Very nice clean comfortable place to stay.

It was a great location. Close to the ferry.And clean hotel.

Our king room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. A hook in the bathroom might be nice to hang a robe or wet towel.

Location was perfect. Room cost fit our budget but was still very nice.

The Wayside Motel is always clean and quiet.

We spent two nights here. It was a wonderful stay. Walking distance to the Ferry to Mackinac Island. Our room was very clean, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and nice hot shower. Highly recommend and would stay again if we get back up there again.

Rooms are not cramped.  There is a coffee pot, microwave and fridge.  Right off the main street through town.  A small hotel that isn't crammed full of people.

A friendly welcome by staff upon arrival to the older, one floor motel style accommodation that has been remodeled throughout. Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Hsk daily, unless requested otherwise. Reasonably priced and convenient to the Ferry Dock for trips to Mackinac Island. Will definitely stay again!

Not fancy-exactly what we expected in a little mom & pop type motel.  The most pleasant surprise was how impeccably CLEAN the room was.  Carla deserves a 10 for her cleaning skills and attention to detail.  Enjoyed the chairs & table that was provided outside each room.  If you are needing a place to stay that provides a clean space and a place to sleep, I would recommend.

Husband and I spent 2 nights here over the Labor day weekend.  Wonderful Motel, very friendly family motel.  Clean, walking distance to food and drinks.  Loved just sitting outside for awhile in the evening, relaxing.  Not a fan of the chain hotels, this place was great.  Not very updated if you're looking for all the bells and whistles, but a great, comfy place.  Would stay again if ever back up that way.

This room was CLEAN!

Great place

We had such a great visit and will be coming back. Having never been to St Ignace, we read reviews of this motel and went for it. We had a friendly, informative check in, a super clean room and were pleasantly surprised with the chairs that let us relax after a long day of driving on the main road. The property was kept up and I wish we lived closer to return on a regular basis. Thank you, we had a wonderful stay!

We spent two nights at the Wayside Motel on a 2,000 mile road trip with our granddaughter.  We were trying to stick to a budget to lengthen our trip.  It was by far the best value for the money anywhere near the Mackinaw Bridge area.  The room was clean and the motel well cared for.  For a resort area, these guys provide a good stay at a reasonable price.  We were within walking distance of Sheplers Ferry Landing and a lot of other stuff.  We plan to come back to this area again.  This is where we’ll be staying.  BTW, these guys are open year round.

A Gem of a Value for Budget Minded Folks in a Resort Area

This motel was exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. Although I had driven past it numerous times, I had not given it much attention. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I needed a last-minute booking. I would highly recommend this motel, especially considering the cost savings associated with booking here.

We absolutely love The Wayside! We try to go to St. Ignace at least once a year and always stay here. I will almost plan a vacation/trip around availability at The Wayside! We’ve stayed numerous other places in St. Ignace but The Wayside is always our top pick. The rooms are always clean & comfortable. Check-in has always gone smooth and it’s super convenient to get ferry tickets at time of check-in too. The bathrooms are updated and always clean with plenty of towels. There isn’t a pool or hot tub and they don’t offer breakfast but we never use those amenities anyway. The rooms do have a fridge and I believe a microwave (we never use it so I can’t remember exactly). I always look forward to our trips north!

We love The Wayside!

I booked this motel due to the many positive reviews I read.  Reviews are accurate!!!!  Management was very friendly and recommendations that we asked for were right on!!!  Check-In was expeditious.  Cleanliness of rooms was immaculate!!!  Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, small kitchen table with chairs....everything we could have wanted, clean and in great working condition.  Bed was very comfortable.  Thank You for a lovely stay :)

Definitely Will Stay Here Again

The property manager was excellent!! I was ill prepared and didn't reserve enough night for my trip. I just called up the front desk and added on another night. It was super easy! Plus, the manager noticed I was looking at the ferry schedule for Mackinaw Island, so he offered cheaper ferry tickets and shuttle service that picks up right in the hotel parking lot! I was traveling with my 2 kids and their bedtime is earlier than mine but if I keep a light on they won't fall asleep. Well, this property has 2 seats outside the room door with a light. This was absolutely perfect for me to sit outside the room and read my book until I became tired. The only thing I consider being a negative was that the vending machine was out of order at the time. Yes, the office did have the drinks that would have been supplied by the vending machine, so it wasn't that bad.

The room we stayed in was very minimal but very clean and clean smelling.  The negative things I noticed was the   ceiling fan in the bathroom did not work well and the front doors all need to be painted.  Other than some exterior work that needs to be done it was a great stay.  The owner is working on remodel.
