Property needs some updates: master closet would not close properly, water pressure not good, and had a weird smell. The property elevator did not work the first two days we were there. Other than that it was very nice, spacious and well equipped. Overall a great stay.

Wonderful ocean views, fun playground, great indoor and outdoor pools, and very short walk to beach. Located near historic St Augustine and many other activities. Condo was very comfortable and had all the basics. Cable was out, but they generously cut some off our bill for the inconvenience. 

Fantastic week with the family

Please note our frustrations encountered at VRBO Housing Unit at 1401 Colony Reef.  These were initial signs of Property Maintenance Negligence, followed by subsequent issues with sink water leak.  

I have attached our immediate concerns upon checking-into the unit,  These were sent by Email to the Colony Reef Management, and they responded.  I also walked to their office the next morning and spoke with Office personnel.  They were sympathetic with my complaint and assigned cleaning person apologized for missing some stuff (dirty coffee pot with grounds, etc).  ----  See attached Email communiques.

On the second morning my wife walked out of the bedroom and noticed that her sock was wet.  Water was seeping up from the LVP-flooring.  Further investigation showed problem area. When we looked under the sink we saw a plastic dish drainer with a plastic container full of water.  When we emptied the plastic container we noticed a slow drip-drip-drip from the hose coming down from the sink.  After reporting leak to Office we were advised that Maintenance would be coming.  We waited for about half hour and then was visited by pleasant Cplony Reef employee. But he studied the situation and determined the leak was from faucet up and behind sink itself.  So he called a plumber and --- we went from there.  We used towels to remove excess water under sink to keep it from leaking under floor.  A Plummer arrived later that morning and repaired the faucet.  He reported that the leak likely was happening for some time as the faucet was very corroded,

My concern to OWNER of VRBO is that this UNIT was being rented as a vacation Residence for peace and relaxation.  Our experience was a far cry from that.   I believe that whomever was here last must have known about the leak and simply not reported it.  When we entered the Unit my wife commented about the lack of a "Dish Drainer" for hand washing small items. We later saw the dish-drainer under the sink cabinet holding a plastic container to catch drips.  Somebody put that there (see attached picture).

I cannot imagine a respectable OWNER doing that, but I can imagine someone who takes advantage of tourists to do so.  My wife and I visit FLORIDA very often and have used Rental Residences close to Crescent Beach. This is the first time that we experienced such a fiasco.  My son and daughter-in-law, and their daughter flew in from SanJose, CA, to join us at the beach.  As per a great time, we made the best of it.   But stress on my wife should not have happened, nor should the inconvenience of the Housing Unit issues.

I am asking OWNER to return 50% of our costs (two nights lodging) for the problems and issues that should not have been experienced by us as renters.  We consider ourselves to be fair and understanding people --- but something unreasonable happened in UNIT 1401. 


Water Leak and Maintenance Oversight Issues --- PLUS NO compensation for Vacation Renter's Inconveniences

Location is great! Huge pool and amazing views of the ocean. Beach is amazing here! Prices are fair and the rooms are comfortable. The location of these condos is great in relation to St. Augustine. Staff has been nice although haven’t seen them much.

On the beach

Family reunion with 52 of us scattered in various condos. Great place for kids to gather in the evening for fun and games on the large lawn space, and pool surrounded by the condos...family friendly and felt very safe...The best thing going was that two of our families had 1st floor rentals right next to each other, so made it much easier to gather and enjoy, and to watch the kids. My rental was not very clean.. had a funny smell to it. Ice Maker not working, sliding door did not lock, No hair dryer (but office staff was quick to supply one), and kitchen had minimal cookware, etc.  Lucky for me, I did not have to do alot of cooking, but my crockpot was a god send! Beds were very uncomfortable! But the A/C worked great..Being right by the elevator was not too much of a problem in regards to noise!

We rented 1406 through Resort Rentals of St. Augustine, so we were able to avoid some fees.  This is advertised as a three bedroom.  The 3rd bedroom's picture made it look big, but in reality, it was tiny.  It has a bunk bed that just barely fits next to a wall.  That room was really tiny.  The condo itself was nice and clean and well stocked for a week stay.  We were on the fourth floor above the pool with a nice view of the beach.  Spend a lot of time on the deck enjoying the breeze.  They have both a indoor pool and outdoor pool.  Hot tub and a kiddie pool.  The hot tub strictly enforces no children under 12, even with parental supervision.  For that reason, we probably will not be back as we have an 8 year old who just wanted to soak her feet.

OK Place.

The property was nice, our unit was clean. Beach is beautiful. Too many fees and a strictly enforced rule about no one under 12 allowed in the hot tub will keep me from returning. I get it that they don’t want a bunch of kids fooling around in the hot tub. The ocean and pool were  pretty cold, so the hot tub was a nice option. Don’t see why a couple of kids couldn’t be in there with a parent. My 3 yr old couldn’t understand why he couldn’t sit in it. Didn’t see how a $150 resort fee was worth it. I’ll stay elsewhere next time. 

Ok stay

This is a summation of this rental;

Bought bleach to clean the moldy: Ice maker, Bathtubs Had to remove tub spout to clean mold, bought caulk to reinstall it. Washed moldy shower curtain. Replaced 1 shower curtain. Window frames were very moldy. Washed all of the rugs (11 of them) they were filthy, could not wash the largest rug Had to clean grunge from couch and chairs (furniture had food, earrings, toy parts and odd trash under cushions. Had to rehang sliding screen on master dootwall (there was no screen on other doorwall. There was dirt, hair and game pieces under the beds Bought batteries for the TV remote Had to clean the electric grill and grill brush Freezer would leak water on floor, drain plug for defroster was plugged, now working fine. Light bulbs were burned out, some lamps did not work Linens, bedding, towels, dishes, silver wear pots and pans were clean. Discarded chipped glasses.

Condo 1410 Sunstrate Travel

We stayed in room 2407, it was a perfect location on the top floor with a great view of the ocean and pool!! Room was very nice and clean! Would return for sure!!  The elevator was the only down fall as it broke down on occasion 

Great Vacation!! 

We stayed in room 2407 for 8 nights and had a great time! The room was very nice, the pool was great and really big. Easy access to the beach which was also beautiful. The only negative thing about the trip was the elevator was constantly broken and we were on the 4th floor. Nit too bad taking the stairs until we had to haul all our luggage down. Overall very pleased with the room, the property and the whole trip!
