Topaz Inn & Suites

This is our second winter at the Topaz Inn in Apache Junction, AZ. We visit here to escape the snow and cold at home and to ride our motorcycles in the sun. The Topaz Inn is our kind of place. Comfortable, relaxing, and the hosts are very nice and accommodating. If your style is the Ritz then you won't be happy here, but if you like down to earth then you will.

Our kind of place

We booked a nonsmoking room with kitchenette but was put into a smoking room that was horrible.  After air fresheners and Febreeze, we laid awake most of the night.  By morning all of our groceries were frozen in the refrigerator and we demanded a refund.  We had booked a room for 8 nights initially.  We were asked to try another room for at least one night before leaving.  It was soooo much better, but we found dead cockroaches in the bathroom vanity.  Would not recommend this place only as a very very last resort.

BEWARE! This place is nightmare fuel. The wife screeches nonstop about being brown & you're not & the husband comes by the day after renting a unit & tries to extort more money while threatening to evict you for non payment even after being shown the receipt he gave you the day before. They also do not practice safe distancing nor masks. You don't even want to know the condition of the units... just stay away for your health.. Beware beware beware!

This is the worst of our holiday. Got traveling late everything else booked up. Night clerk came out with last week's food on front of shirt. AC don't work not one glass in the room. WiFi is the slowest. Had to sleep for  $71 plus tax all I can say drive on should have stayed in vehicle wife needed to rest 

Turn and run 

I suppose winter is the wrong time of year to try to reserve a motel room at the last minute in the Phoenix and surrounding area due to the large influx of those seeking sunshine and warm temperatures. Unfortunately I was on a last minute business trip to Apache Junction, Az. and had the misfortune to book a room at the only place available, TOPAZ INN. Please Please Please  choose a different place to stay. The room #117  was filthy and small, It had an unpleasant smell and had a lot of noisy people there who were residents of sorts. The counter staff were nowhere to be found and check in was a long painful process and the cost was $119.00 If I would have known what to expect there I would have stayed at the YMCA

Stay anywhere else

The water pressure in the shower was a drip, not a shower.  It was impossible to get completely clean with the absence of running water.  Then after we returned the next day we found that housekeeping did not make our bed.  It was as we had left it that morning,

Now for the check out.  I was presented with a bill for more than I was expecting.  I explained to the same man that quoted me the #### price that he told me the lower rate in the absence of the Suite.  Then all hell broke loose.  His wife came out screaming at me.  It was so loud that my wife heard it back in the room. She said that I had signed up for that price on the internet and I HAD to pay that amount.  I told her, calmly, that I paid for a Suite. She the went totally ballistic, yelling and screaming in my face.  She kept repeating, “I’m brown and your white”  I’’m brown and your white”.  I have no idea were she was coming from by playing a race card, but she kept it up over and over.

The discussion, if you want to call it that, got louder and louder. She handed me the credit card slip to sign.  At this point I was afraid there would be physical contact, so I signed, noting refused on the invoice, and departed. I would have been foolish to jeopardize my well being by continuing with this violent person.  In closing, her husband set the rate at $$$$ not me.  I request that you cancel the amount charged and correct the amount that was stated.
