We had no problem returning to the house between 11-5, and really no problems besides that either. This is in a perfect neighbourhood and it's a very cute old house. Personally, much more interesting for me than staying in some big corporate hotel without any character. 

That being said, it was $75 for a room instead of $200 like at some of the nicer hotels. It makes sense that it may not have all the same amenities. And for us that was fine. The owner was friendly and helpful, parking was easy, and it was a nearby place to crash after touring the city.

Brian was incredibly helpful and it wasn't an issue to come/go at late hours. He was friendly and sorted transportation to the airport for me. The accommodation is a bit warm inside, I went late May. Other than that, the location is perfect! Right next to Forsyth Park and a short walk to the centre of downtown Savannah. The beds were clean and comfy. It was the best option for a student, price wise. Good place to stay when travelling through Georgia.

Perfect place to stay in a beautiful historic area.  If your in Savannah for a couple of nights and on a budget this place is ideal. We stayed in the carriage house which had 2 bedrooms and slept 5 of us. 
The owner Bryan was very kind and really cared that we had everything we needed and were comfortable.

Great place to stay!

Best value option in Savannah

Perfect - 

I will start with the good things about this place. It was cheap---$75 for a private room with queen bed and a pretty good location, and parking was surprisingly easy. Also, it was clean for the most part. The owner is a really nice guy as well. For the bad, my biggest issue was the fact that we couldn't return between 12pm and 5pm. And the worst part of that: he leaves the A/C off during that time, *the hottest part of the day*. We got back from a day at the beach on Tybee Island looking to get ready for dinner and our room was STIFLING hot. It really messed up my day. Also, a single bathroom is shared between all guests, which could be up to 10 people at a time. The room was really small and literally just a bed and a chair---not even a table to rest your phone on while it charges. I really wish I would have spent a little more and gotten a motel.

Would not return, especially in the summer

You'll find this listing on hostel sites, but let's be honest, this is no hostel.  It's some rooms upstairs from a strange guy's house with a carriage house out back.  I had read some of the reviews but they seemed outdated and I told myself I could overlook a lot of the complaints.  But to be honest, the bad parts on my trip to Savannah all stem from have staying here.

My biggest complaint by far was that if you stay in the main house you have to be out of the building from 11am-5pm every day.  At first, I thought to myself, that's not so bad, I'm going to be exploring anyways!  But not being able to come back at all to rest in the middle of the day was terrible. Or when one day it was rainy all day and I had to stay out in the rain trying to find things to do to pass the time until I could get back inside and had to buy a sweatshirt as the temp dropped once the rain came.  So this arrangement might be fine for a day or two but if you're staying any longer than that it really will wear on you.  I deeply regret not moving over to the carriage house – I just didn’t want to spend more money that I didn’t really have.

The room itself was just a bed and a chair - the chair I couldn't move (not like there was space to anyways), because it is holding up some sort of fire alarm that will fall out of place and apparently beep very loud if you do – so I didn’t even try to sit in it, it was a place to put my luggage.  It was only February but that room was so uncomfortably warm.  No AC and only a loud overhead fan.   And a sign saying not to sleep with the window open as there's no screen and the bugs will get in.  I didn’t sleep well at all with being so warm and the uncomfortable bed and pillows that were covered in plastic.  There's a balcony that is a bit terrifying with some chairs that didn't seem structurally sound.

Building itself is pretty run down.  Paint chipping.  A shower that you have to fiddle with the knobs or else the pipes make a terrible noise.  The shower didn’t drain well either and my feet were in a few inches of water.   I didn't need the kitchen at all but there's a fridge in there but no real way of reheating food as there's no microwave and no pots or pans or anything to reheat your food with - the owner offered up some aluminum foil to make a makeshift pan if I needed to. I just didn't bother bringing back any leftovers.

Except for the first night there was literally no one else staying in the main house upstairs with me so there were no noise issues.  Being there's only one bathroom, if you get multiple people there I can see getting ready in the morning being an issue - especially with everyone needing to leave the premises by 11:00am.

Location - not too bad really.  30 min walk or so to the parts of town you'd want to be actually visiting.  My favorite route after trying many was through Forsyth Park and up Bull St.  Uber will cost you between $5-10 to get back and forth.  It’s across from Kroger grocery store if you need anything.  Neighborhood seemed nice – people often greeted me politely while I was outside.

Looking back on past reviews, I really had hoped things may have changed over the years, but nothing has.  The complaints I had were the same complaints people had 5 years ago.  I don’t know why the owner doesn’t make an effort to make some very small changes that would make this a much better place to stay (can he still not afford some pots and pans?  He told me there’s no wifi in the carriage house – time to get a new router!).  And seriously, that whole closed from 11-5 thing needs to go…there is absolutely no reason to put your guests through that every single day.  For that reason alone I wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

As you can see, I'm usually a positive reviewer. Not this time. 

This was a disappointment from the start. Their website CLEARLY states taxes are included in the price, yet 13% was added and the man shrugged his shoulder and said "you know, taxes..," but I was too tired to argue. At that bump up you can stay in a motel cheaper, that would be nicer. 

He had problems with his credit card reader and he said "this happens all the time" - I ended up paying cash. It felt very weird and when he said they'd been in business a long time I was surprised. 
From the photos I'd say the house is much nicer than the carriage house. It was old and not maintained particularly well.  
The bed was rock hard (hard like a cheap futon) and covered in plastic! I sweat sweat sweat all night, even though it was freezing that night. Yuck. 
The bathroom is shared and when you go in you lock the other person's door. It woke me up when the others locked my door! The door to the bathroom is in your room. 
The man brought the others in the carriage house late at night, clumping up the stairs, talking loudly. The walls are paper thin - he could have been more considerate for others in the carriage house. 
The wifi ONLY worked in the main house. He pointed to a STEP outside in the backyard and said "you can get wifi if you sit out there!" 
I'll never stay - nor would I recommend - this place again.
