The Milo

As a family of four (2 kids 11 and 13) this was our third visit to this property. A couple of weeks before arrival we heard from the hotel that they wouldn't be able to give us the room type we had booked (around 11 months earlier) which was very disappointing because our kids had been really looking forward to the bunk beds. Elise from the operations team got in touch however and was able to provide a satisfactory solution so that put us at ease and we could look forward to our stay once again. We have always loved the location and feel of this hotel and that feeling was just as strong this time as our first trip back in 2018. The proximity to the sea and marina, the lovely walk/bike path next to the beach for morning runs or rides on the loan bikes is great and this time we made use of the free loan beach chairs too which were great. This was our first experience of a renovated room and while the room type was not what we had originally booked, we loved how everything was relatively new yet finished in a quirky, luxury Californian style. The room was a nice size and was set next to a lovely garden area right off the main road which was a perfect place to sit out for a coffee. It also had a fridge, safe and coffee machine and the shower was good. The pool and hot tub at the front/far end of the hotel is our favourite and we loved that again, making the best use we could. It's shame that the hotel doesn't offer wine tasting/happy hour type events which it used to - these really fit the vibe of the hotel and the outdoor fire pits were perfect for it. We still enjoyed using those though for our games of cards in the evening. Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout from the main desk to the guys at the valet desk. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return to The Milo next time.
