Best place ever, very clean and awesome staff, very fancy rooms, nice grounds,awesome hotel and bar with cheap prices compared to everywhere else. Lots of history at this location and just a very active place especially in several of rooms. Everyone should stay here.

I stayed at Tarpon Inn for 2 nights this spring during SandFest, and I was traveling solo. I really loved the property and my room. So many beautiful historic details remain, but my room had just the right amount of modern touches. If you're looking for a completely modern room layout, this might not be what you're looking for, but I loved it.

My favorite part of the property was the porch and courtyard area out back. I sat out there with a magazine both nights, it was so delightful and relaxing. There was live music as well, I also loved that.

Parking was easy, there are spaces on either side of the hotel. Plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance. Ferry is a short drive away.

This was an incredible restaurant. Small, intimate with amazing food equal to a 5* in the big city. Service was excellent. It is expensive but worth the price. Be sure and get the bread pudding it is to die for!! 

Fine dining and historic inn less than a mile from the pier and beach. Good for families looking to spend quality time together without modern distractions. Cool off in the pool and relax on the patio rocking chairs.

We visited the Tarpon Inn and stayed 3 nights in the FDR suite for Spring Break 2020. It was more of an apartment than a suite with a nice living room, complete with flat screen TV, huge bedroom with attached bath and roomy private balcony, fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, toaster, oven, sink, refrigerator, microwave and all the dishes and pots and pans anyone could reasonably use. There was also a very nice breakfast room. The hotel is obviously quite old but incredibly charming. The staff was friendly and helpful with everything and we had an amazing dinner (they even cooked the red fish  our son had caught that day and served it blackened as we requested!) at Roosevelt's - the hotel restaurant. The pool area was also very nice and as it turned out we had the place mostly to ourselves. Would definitely return- this hotel is a real Texas treasure!!!

If you are looking for nostalgia and history, the Tarpon Inn is a must place to stay on your small historical places list. Franklin D. Roosevelt stayed at the Tarpon Inn during a trip to Port Aransas on his presidential yacht The Potomac. All 24 rooms open onto a shady porch where you can sit in a rocking chair and watch the golf carts go by to the beach. Restaurants, shop, the Port Aransas Ferry, Port Aransas Beach and fishing plus kayaking trails are near by. There is wifi, but the typical amenities like TV and coffee aren't available in most of the rooms. There is coffee served  in the office after 8:15 on the morning. 

Beautiful historic hotel, very reminiscent of the types you use to find in the Florida Keys. Our room was cozy comfortable. there are rocking chairs and ceiling fans outside of each. Great for sitting outside at night with a cool breeze and the sound of palm trees rustling. We had a great stay without the nuisance of TVs and telephones allowing my wife and I to just enjoy each other‘s company. Will definitely be back!

Best place to stay - convenient to restaurants and marina. They had some damage but are back online. This place has so much character. If you are looking for a tv and fancy bathroom forget it. This has antiques and a weathered look and so much history and resilience. The restaurant should be open next month.

Port Aransas is a cool beach town with a small town coastal vibe. It’s NOT the place to stay in a typical chain hotel with a room that might as well be in Dallas or Tuson. The TravelinAmigos wants an Inn that is part of the local charm and that’s what the Tarpon Inn is. Port Aransas won’t be the same without the Tarpon. Sure it’s not a spiffy beachfront condo, and there are certainly Family trips where the condo plan is a great fit. But, we were on a couple retreat weekend to relax and the Tarpon Inn was the perfect choice. We love the coastal vibe, love hanging on the porch with coffee in the morning and walking over to a breakfast spot or Virginia’s for afternoon oysters & beer overlooking the bay and our favorite lighthouse. Although it hasn’t reopened quite yet, Roosevelt’s for dinner at the Tarpon Inn keeps us coming back again & again. Put it all together and the Tarpon and it’s surrounds make for an easy, laid back coastal weekend that is perfect for us. We can’t wait to go again.

It was great to stay in a historical hotel on our fishing trip. The staff was excellent and service was quick. It was amazing to see a building which could withstand  Hurricane Harvey so well. It was a great experience staying there.

2nd stay this time with my wife.  Located in the middle of town; walkable to restaurants, fishing fleet, and a just built fishing pier that gave a beautiful view to the sunrise over the bay.  1 minute away is the Coast Guard station where you can view the colors raising at 0800.  We were there during Spring break; great news they don’t allow unaccompanied people under 25? So none of that to contend with.  It’s a motel type arrangement with no internal lobby so enter your room from outside.  Kind of noisy at night as there is a bar next store and you’re pretty much right off the street but quiet after midnight or so.  Small, clean and comfortable rooms and if you’re an early riser no lobby to get coffee but great little donut spot next store opens at 5 or so.   No frills however a convenient clean and historically cool place that we will definitely return to.

Charming historic property

Of all the options for staying in Port Aransas the Tarpon Inn is definitely in our top three. It is a beautiful historical structure facing the water with a lovely upper and lower deck where you can enjoy some time to relax. There’s a courtyard in back which leads to the fantastic Roosevelt’s restaurant, as well as a separate cocktail lounge. In addition to those options, it is convenient to walk or cycle to other restaurants, shops, and of course, the beach.
The accommodations do leave a bit to be desired. We’ve stayed there a few times, and the queen room has only one night stand and lamp. So, as a couple, it’s not ideal. There’s no coffee pot in the room, but there is coffee downstairs in the lobby. Though the staff is very friendly, they don’t seem very familiar with the amenities, activities, or establishments visitors might be seeking even though the front desk agent we spoke to had grown-up there.
There are chairs in the room to relax, however, no tea table to rest your drink, book, etc. There was a beautiful wardrobe, but no bar or hangers for your clothing, just one stubborn drawer at the bottom. 
We prefer to go in the off-season when things are quieter, but there hasn’t yet been enough hot water during our visit in winter to fill up the bathtub. However, once the pipes heat up a hot shower is easily enjoyable. Perhaps these are just the inconveniences of a historical building. It’s a very charming inn with a terrific location, and we will certainly return. 

Charming & convenient to dining, shops, beach.

Our room was quaint - a bit worn, but very clean.  The wind howled through our door all night and did interfere with a good night’s sleep.  Bed was a bit soft and pillows a bit flat.  We enjoyed a nightcap at the newly opened Roosevelt - a welcoming spot with a neighborhood pub vibe - a nice alternative to the beach bar scene.

In "COVID" time, we were not sure what to expect at the Tarpon.  Stayed here for 2 nights and what a great experience.  1st off, the Customer Service was WAY beyond my expectations.  Stassi (sp?) in the front was friendly, accommodating and responsive to any of our needs.   The other ladies were also kind and friendly.  We were even provided a can of Off, from a personal stash (which you will need!!).   The restaurant is nice, and food was great.  I am a vegan, so there was only one option for me.  The chef made it to perfection and it was delicious.   There was plenty of sanitizer, room was clean and the property was a nice walk to the beach.
