Sea Cove Resort Motel

Places like this are an endangered species. I love the charm, the personality, the luscious garden and green space, the "Old Florida Nostalgia" of Beach Motels, I love the price for such a large amount of space and amenities! I remember when A1A was lined with these motels, in Pompano and Deerfield... I only wish there were more like this! Only con, is that they closed the pool at 7pm, citing "regulations"-- one of my main reasons for coming was for the pool. And I love a good night swim! So, that's a disappoinment. Other than that, I got what I paid for (no, it's not a spic-and-span, modernly updated, shiningly clean room-- but those aren't the most important things to me in choosing a "staycation" place to stay for the night.) Donna, the lady up front who checked me in, was a pleasure to meet. I haven't seen the other rooms, but I booked a standard/studio (not the suite/full apartment that they offer), and WOW-- it's huge! I got an upstairs room-- with two double beds, a pull out couch, and full kitchen including functional gas stove, microwave, full size refrigerator, sink, and cabinets stocked with dinnerware. Not sure if all of the rooms have this? But I was impressed with both the size and functionality of the room. Free, private parking is available (I chose a parking space in the "back/corner row", which offers more privacy and isn't in the front directly off of busy A1A. This place surely won't be for everybody-- everyone has their own tastes and preferences. But I love it here, and it is exactly what I was looking for when I booked online (not having actually seen the property in person yet, so I was weary.) But it actually exceeded my expectations. Like I said, everyone has their preferences though, and this is definitely an old motel, but I thought the online pictures and descriptions made that very clear from the get-go, so I'm not sure why some of the negative comments allude to this. Last week, I was in a $200 hotel room (w/ $35 a day resort fees and $40 for valet) on Ft Lauderdale Beach-- and it was spectacular as well. But the difference between those places is like night and day, so be aware this is a MOTEL before you book it! If you're looking for a ritzy hotel, look elsewhere. But I enjoy these little beach motels even more than those fancy places sometimes, it's just a whole different experience and "feel" to it; but one I am very satisfied with!
