Rip Van Winkle Motel

As a party of eight bicyclists, traveling on a budget, this motel met our needs perfectly. The staff were especially accommodating and helpful. Having a restaurant (Gus' Red Hots) next door was a real help.

Was a quaint comfy cabin to stay in. Place was queit and owners were very freindly and helpful, they even gave me a block of wood to put my kickstand for my motorcycle on. AC worked great and short walk to the city beach and a great restaurant right next door.

Very nice bathroom for a little hotel.  Clean

The cabin I stayed in was nice, pans available were not very good and I was chasing mosquitos the first night.

Great comfortable bed Free internet cable TV, service animal excepted, would stay again if in the area

The property is sound proof, we had a great time at the place. There were 2 queen beds separated by a door, it has 2 TVs for each bed. Kitchen and utensils were provided also. Nice stay overall.

the motel is super clean.  the bathroom is perfect!  I have nothing to say about negatives

Facility is okay.  Windows have built-in blinds but the surrounding property has lights on all night so it looks line it is always daytime when in the room.  Parking is limited but the owners had a grassy area next to the hotel for boat parking.  Toilets are the small round kind suitable for small children.

Okay for the Price

This is a very "you get what you paid for" type place. We started to look at it more like camping, but indoors with a bed, heat and tv. The staff was lovely, and they came to bring new towels every day. No vacuuming or anything in-between and we made our own beds, so I can't speak to their sheets. We did find one towel with a bit of a stain and a shoe print on it that we thought was new, so I would just recommend your own towels. Their sheets were pretty thin as well so we brought pillow cases and our own blankets. They upgraded us for a few extra bucks a night so we could have a kitchenette, which was overall pretty well cared for. The room was pretty big as well, with 2 queen beds in separate rooms, but no couch. We accepted because we wanted the kitchenette though. The bed was a bit soft and lump, but again it was a bed! What more can you ask for for the price? The location is GREAT! Right across from City Beach with a nice little dog park (we brought our dog, $10 extra a night- not bad!) Really close to the ferry to VT and really close to some cool sights and restaurants in Plattsburg.Overall a little run down, but lovely little place to stay if you're prepared for it. :)

comfy bed, remodeled, large tv with plenty of cable channels, fridge, microwave. Restaurant next door. Close to beach and ferry.  Construction guests can be noisy, otherwise pretty quiet.

Quiet, comfy bed, fridge, microwave, table and chairs, lots of cable channels. Looks to be recently renovated. Good, reasonably priced restaurant next door. Had a greasy handprint on wall above toilet, so cleaning could be better.

Inexpensive, clean and quiet.  A motel room basically, a not sketchy motel room.

All the important things worked great, tv, wifi, AC, hot water, shower..... Still needs to be refurbushed, just outdated, needs  some finishing touches, pictures, bedspread, curtains for quietness(had nice blinds)
