Stonehouse Manor

The Stone house manor is one of the most beautiful places We’ve  ever stayed.  Jane and Tim are the perfect hosts for such a wonderful place.  We stayed in the Lakeview room and we had a nice breeze all night and we could hear the waves crashing onto Popham beach.

   We stayed in "the Blue Room" whose walls are more like mauve.  The two bay windows provide not just room but a wonderful cross breeze.  Night here is as black as one can imagine and devoid of any noise.  The bathroom in this room is smaller than the others,  but adequate.  After tramping about Freeport on a rainy day we returned in the afternoon and I had a peaceful and restorative nap.  Now we are sitting on the couch in our room relaxing with a drink.  Why we are not on the balcony at the rear of the house I cannot imagine because it is enormous indoors and out.  Maybe tomorrow I stay awake and we enjoy that,  although sun is promised for tomorrow and Popham Beach is only a ten minute walk from here. 

Breakfast was delicious and precluded lunch anywhere;  my appetite only is beginning to return at 6PM.  We will be back at Spinney's Restaurant again tonight in hopes of the Strawberry-Rhubard pie.  The Blueberry pie last night was small wild blueberries with a magic balance of cinnamon on a flaky crust bottom and a crumble topping.  My mother's nickname was 'Cookie', but I know I have never had blueberry pie so good and her cakes and pies were supreme. 

The walk back from Spinney's last night was perfect for settling the lobster and onion rings before bed. 

It is a lovely place to stay. 

From the  moment we arrived until we departed our entire family (14 in number) felt completely at home at this wonderful B & B.  The proprietors were unbelievably kind and generous along with their small staff.  The house is beautiful, the setting is bucolic and the breakfasts and dinner that we were served was altogether perfect.  Each room has its own special charm and had all the comforts of being at home.  We absolutely felt so lucky to have found this special place and we would all love to come back.

Stonehouse Manor is a classic, charming, well preserved 1890s summer "cottage," sited on a picturesque landscape complete with pond, a few minutes walk from a world class beach. The owner-operators, Tim and Jane, are friendly, generous, and engaging, but not overbearing. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed with no detail overlooked. Tim's blueberry muffins and scrambled eggs were perfect and our breakfast conversation most enjoyable. We're looking forward to our next visit!

The hosts and help were so kind and generous.  You felt like you were really on vacation by the amazing breakfast, and graciousness to your every need.  A big shout out to Lorenzo, who literally Carried my older dog up and down the stairs of the carriage house we stayed in due to her bum left leg (she is 15).  He is also a great cook offering to serve us breakfast outside when it was just the two of us.  Walking distance from the most gorgeous beach in Maine, on a lake with a beautiful large lawn ... a rustic carriage house for people who have furry children.  It's a little cottage with a great deck with a grill.  Super comfortable beds.  These folks really Are pet friendly and the whole atmosphere is so relaxed yet high end . . . would go back in a heartbeat!

Overall solid location and i found comfort and relaxation at the property. The only issue of mine would come from a bad pink eye infection after leaving the property and i can only make the assumption this was due to the owner farting all over my pillow because i checked in after hours. So sad to have experience that i couldn't open my eye for a week.
