Blue Haven Motel

The friendliness of the owner, the fact that he thought enough about his customer to warn me to be aware of the many deer encounters there had been.  Very personable!

The room and bedding were clean, bed was comfortable, TV and Internet worked well.This was not an expensive stay, and very much worth the money I paid.

The rooms are large in a great location, the motel is charming and staff are knowledgable, available, accessible and very friendly.

The people who helped me were extremely friendly and accommodating.  They even shoveled off my front entrance from the snowstorm from the night before.  My room was very clean and fresh.

Great place and value for one night stay.  Manager even called me because i was arriving after dark to warn me about driving carefully and to be on the look out for deer, I did come across one and appreciated the heads up.

Very friendly people.  Clean place to stay.  Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores.

I appreciate the "old school" style of this motel.  No fancy frills, but just what I was looking for.  Spent five nights here and on each day after returning, the room was nicely cleaned with fresh towels.  The staff were friendly, and there were no issues during my entire stay.  If you need a comfortable, quiet place with no frills, I recommend this motel.

This is a small, older property so tihe passage of time is apparent but the owners work hard to make it homey and friendly.  I love the brightly painted walls and the flowers at the entry and in pots in front of rooms. When i stayed the day had been very hot and the owners made sure my room was cool when i arrived. I would stay here again, for sure.

The motel is an older property, maybe early '60s, and while it does show its age, we were very happy with our stay.  The rooms are acceptably clean, and come with the standard - fridge, microwave, wifi.  The furniture is older, but for $60, you can't expect 'brand new Holiday Inn' décor.  The bathrooms are fabulous original tile and fixtures, very blue.  They are well kept, and the water pressure/temperature were very good.  The owners were pretty nice, and gave me an old postcard of the place.

We spent two nights here, and one of the best parts was the very short walk into downtown, so drinks at dinner were no problem.  I think we actually stayed in August '18, since we were there for the state fair.  It's a very short drive up to the free parking/shuttle in Des Moines, and you save a bundle and avoid crowds.  Osceola itself is quiet and pleasant.

Convenient and budgetastic

This is a simple motel in a small town. But the room (and town) was comfortable: Clean and fully functional, and very low room rate. The innkeepers are nice. Do note that they definitely want guests out promptly at 11 am; I found it a bit odd that I was called at 10:55 to nudge me out, even though in actuality I was halfway out the door when the phone rang. A good restaurant and a bar that has decent live music Friday nights are only a few blocks away. No coffee available at the motel but, again, only a few blocks away you can find a coffee shop.

Good small town stay

Didn't like the look of our original planned motel, so took to TA and found the Blue Haven just down the road. Sure, it's an older place but our room was clean and everything worked just fine. Fairly quiet considering the location; OK, an occasional train went by but nothing that kept us from a good night's sleep. We felt safe and secure (not so sure that would have been the case in the other place down the road...) Pleasant staff, nice price.

Decent overnight stay

Stayed here last night. This place is easy on the wallet. It's clean as well. It seems close to the Amtrak station too. It is outdated, but if you're like me you don't care one way or another. Actually the throwback look is appealing to me because it reminds me of when I was a kid. I'll probably stay again. Friendly staff too...

Good

Some people may be surprised by the dated decor and wood paneling, but I thought it was great. The check in staff were great and the area was quiet and comfortable.

This is an older property but well kept. My room was very clean and comfortable. The owners were personable and available for questions or help if needed. I would stay there again if in the area.

This was perfect for us. It’s an older motel, very clean, very friendly staff, convenient location, quiet, and economical.
