Blue Horizon Bed and Breakfast

I am winding down a fabulous week at Blue Horizon B&B. I can't say I've ever had a more relaxing stay in a more beautiful space. Upon arrival, you are greeted by sweeping views of the Catskills that seem to go on forever. There is a spacious wrap-around deck allowing for endless enjoyment of the breathtaking horizon. Upon entering the lodge-style space, you find yourself in a soaring great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable furnishings,books, and stylish appointments that reveal this is not only a B&B, but a well-loved home. The hosts, Eddie and Alden, were completely accommodating to my needs as a writer looking for a quiet space to work. The meals were delicious and prepared with care. They happily made coffee to keep me going. I stayed in the Yellow Room which is located on the basement level of the house. Despite being on the lower level of the home, because the lodge is built into the side of a small mountain, the room has two windows that face the woods and a meadow allowing for plenty of sunshine and drapes that can be drawn for privacy (from what? Bears??). There is a clean bathroom (not en-suite) that is accessible via the TV room adjacent to the bedroom and it is reserved exclusively for the use of the Yellow Room occupant. Because the B&B is also a working home, you have the delightful opportunity to enjoy Eddie and Alden's company (as well as a beautiful kitty), or you can choose to use Blue Horizon as a base from which you can enjoy the beauties of the region. As it is located in a fairly secluded area, be prepared for a lack of cabs/Uber, nearby pizza joints, etc. The guys were terrific with recommendations on where I could pick up groceries, which they allowed me to prepare in their kitchen. Other regional amenities and restaurants are accessible by car, so be prepared to explore the nearby towns. Highly recommended if you are looking for an out-of-the-way, quiet and secluded B&B experience in a truly lovely environment.
