Mountain Meadow Inn Bed & Breakfast

The innkeeper Kim took my reservation on very short notice. The house and property was very fitting for the countryside. My room was clean and extremely comfortable. She even lit the outdoor fire pit for me! In the morning, I got a very unique breakfast experience. I have several dietary restrictions which she accommodated easily. The eggs came from their hens and the vegetables from their garden. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. 

I have to echo the sentiments of others whose reviews convinced me to stay at the Mountain Meadow Inn.  This place was perfect!  Such a bucolic, peaceful setting, Kim is a lovely host, who makes pretty much the best pancakes i've ever had!  The room was bright and beautiful and like a bedroom in a family home.  The chickens in the yard were friendly and their eggs enhanced breakfast!  And the fire pit at the end of the evening was a great way to wind down, meet some new friends, and see the stars come out.  Could not say enough good things - you will not be dissapointed!

Kim, one of the owners, welcomed us and we had a wonderful stay at the inn.  Since it was a "light" weekend, we were upgraded at no cost to one of the rooms that has its own bathroom.  This was very kind as we were going to a wedding and having our own bathroom to get ready in, made it very nice and enjoyable.  In the morning, Kim cooked us a delicious breakfast with farm fresh eggs from her chickens that roam the property outside.  All in all, it was a lovely stay.  Clean, good bed, and warm hospitality.  A 10 out of 10!

Perfect Retreat!

Everything you need, plus farm fresh eggs!

3 1/2 star review, with a few minor details this place could easily be a (4) star resort destination.

First off, I love Ms. Kim! She is such a sweetie, she gave me a bottle of wine when we checked in and said Happy Birthday to me. (hugs)

We came here but treated this place like Las Vegas, we weren't here all day because we were out exploring. Lets break down the amenities of this charming Bed and Breakfast:

Bed:
What we saw on Booking.com was not the same room. We didn't have a big sleigh bed, it was a smaller two poster bed. I get the shared bathroom, not a big deal for me. (My wife wasn't a fan) She wanted to dry her hair in our room and there wasn't any electric outlets close to the mirror. It seems a little hokey. The temperature in October, the room did get hot quickly. We opened the top window a crack and had a breeze of cool mountain air come into our room. Delicious!
*Ms Kim Suggestion - If you have a shared bathroom, you should provide robes. I didn't care, I went out shirtess with sweatpants but my wife couldn't. Robes for the ladies?

Breakfast:
Ms Kim can cook! When you first pull into the B&B, you see chickens walking around the farm. Your breakfast eggs are from these chickens! Talk about Farm to Table, it doesn't get any better. Breakfast was pancakes and eggs, the next day was French toast and eggs. Each meal was served with fresh maple syrup and jam Ms. Kim made with grapes from upstate NY. Just want to point out, if you never had a NY grown grape you are missing out! Those big, plump seedless supermarket grapes are from, I dunno Mexico, are yucky compared to NY fresh fruit. And they sell them by the bushel! Anyhoo, you have a few grapes as garnish with your meal. 
Here's the issue, I don't like scrambled eggs. It would have been nice to been asked how to you want your eggs cooked (I told Ms. Kim on the second day, sunny side up)
As for the kitchen, my body clock said to get up at 5:30am. Ms. Kim got up and made coffee about two minutes later for me. I really didn't understand the rules of the kitchen too well. I see there are pears and bananas. Are they for guests? Do you know what guest like early in the AM? Fresh cookies, cake slices and scones. My wife doesn't eat breakfast much less pancakes with syrup. She would have enjoyed a scone with fresh jam and coffee. Don't get me wrong, she did have pancakes with jam. It was soon good!!! She did make due the second day, a slice of toast with the fabulous jam. (She doesn't like French Toast)

Ms. Kim gave a few wonderful suggestions with things to do and see around the area. I've been skiing in Hunter Mountain since I was a teenager and my dad had property in Watkins Glen back in the day. A full tank of gas is all I need to explore the area before the snow. There are so many things to do any time of year. Hiking, biking, fishing, its all here in New York baby!

This is my long birthday weekend, I wanted to hang this weekend in Woodstock, visiting some antique stores, have a great meal and just relax. Done and done!

I have to point out and this is a biggie, there are cats in the house. I am deathly allergic to cats. At least when I was 20, I know to not pet them or have them curl up next to me. My face would blow up and ruin my weekend. It was cool, I had coffee in the parlor with my book and a big black cat. No one was sick.

When we were ready to check out, we said our goodbyes. I say, raise the room price an extra 5 bucks and give a small jelly or syrup jar. It was that good and would have been a nice touch. I don't want to be a nit picking, I just loved the jam so much.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Mountain Meadow Inn. I would recommend this place for skiing as well as a quick, romantic get away.

A quite, B&B getaway weekend

There were literally hundreds of bugs (gnats and mosquitos) on the ceiling, on the walls, on the bed, IN the bed, in my hair and on me!  It was like a scene out of a bad movie.  I tried in vain for awhile to kill some but more just kept coming.  The owner said some rooms were better than others with the bugs.  I think no rooms should have that situation.  Most unpleasant and really too bad since the house and room were cute .  Right on the road, though so you do hear the cars going by, even though you're in the country.   Breakfast was pretty simple -- just scrambled eggs and pancakes and toast.  Because of the unpleasant bug experience, this B&B seemed overpriced.
