Had a lovely stay at the Hartland Hotel. I am glad I found this place as a base for a ski trip to nearby Brundage Mountain. 

Jenn made us feel very welcome and even was able to provide us with an upgrade using a special rate from their Facebook.  We had a wonderful room with two queen beds, fireplace, and kitchenette.  I hope to come back again, next winter when I venture out to Idaho to ski.

I am sure the motel part of this lovely inn isn't for those who are looking for a Ritz Carlton experience, but let me tell you why I've scored the motel so highly. It is well earned and I am a huge fan.

I was passing through this area of Idaho, on my way to Northern Washington. I really only needed a clean and safe space to sleep in, but I am a major stickler for clean. I also need a comfortable bed, and a place with good heat. I hate being cold, and I am cold more often than not.

I booked the room and received a kindly text from Doug, giving me my virtual key to the room. That worked out beautifully as I arrived on the late side, and it was very convenient to smoky, pull up, unpack, and get comfortable.

When I rolled in, I had a nervous moment. I opened the door to the room, and it felt colder in the room than outside! I texted Doug, thinking I may be having a tough night. Doug, showed me how to turn on the heat, and within 20 minutes, I was in heaven!

The room is small. I was a single traveler, but it would be fine for two.  I grew up sailing, and I spent a decent amount of time living in NYC. I am good- in fact, happy, staying over in smaller, cozier rooms. This room fits the bill. That bed was so comfortable!

The floors are gorgeous real wood planking and the sink is no weak little sink. It is a deep basin and the faucet is great! I could actually wash my face and not feel like I would flood out the room if I left the water on to rinse the facecloth. I loved the slate counters. The fridge was perfectly efficient. The TV was large - and given the coziness of the room, I felt like I had my own personal movie theater in the room!

I understand each room has a slightly different decor, but I really loved the feel of my room. It felt very lodge (y) and yet, so darn warm and cozy and inviting. I slept like a baby in that room, and woke up happy and refreshed, the following day.

There is a lovely little yard that is shared with the motel, carriage house, and historic inn. There are picnic tables, places to walk and play with dogs, and spit green grass.

The town is small and just a short walk from the motel. There is a gas station, pizza place and a Subway within steps of the motel.

The best part is that Doug is right there in a minute, if you text him. He is affable, and even better, ready to help you to make your stay the greatest. You can tell that he really cares about the property and the guests, and that is everything.

This hotel is certainly a gem and it is perfect especially, if you need a great stopover for the night. I already booked another night. I will be going out of my way to stay there when I  make my trip back home.  

This hotel is the perfect spot for those of us  road weary travelers because entering these roos is like entering a warm, loving hug. Don't expect chocolates on your pillows and an onsite spa, but expect a friendly welcome from Doug and a warm comfy bed when you drive  on in.

The owners are very friendly and the location perfect for riding Brundage. The coffee shop across the road is very good and we were walking distance to the grocery store. We got multiple days off amazing powder and then some hot showers when we got be back to the Inn. Will come again!

The hosts, Sara & Rory, have met all the safety health recommendations and provide a wonderful relaxing experience in this unique historic setting.  The suite was spacious, very comfortable, well-appointed and nicely decorated.  We walked to nearby restaurants and enjoyed golf every day!  Beautiful mountain views in this lovely setting.  We will definitely be back again! Thank you!

We found this place while planning our annual motorcycle trip this spring. They have excellent accommodations and a beautiful historic property. We stayed in the carriage house which far exceeded our expectations. After supper at a local eatery we came back and had a couple beers at the beer and wine bar on the main floor of the old house. The owners only had one rule while we had our drinks. We had to pick a record to listen to from their collection of vinyl! At the same time we had a wonderful visit with the owners. They even provided us with some old towels to use to wipe our bikes down after it rained that night!  We will definitely stay again when we’re in the area.

Our family was in New Meadows for a family wedding.  Most of us stayed on the property of this historic bed and breakfast 1910 restored mansion.  The main house is full of antiques and is a family business run by Rory and Sara who could not be more gracious.  The grounds were beautiful this summer, full of lush grass and plantings of flowers.  It had a feeling of nostalgia with a beautiful barn and trees.  On the property are several kinds of accommodations.  There are two strips of single story motel rooms with various capacities and a recently built carriage house with large updated rooms and bathrooms. We stayed in the main house in the Josephine room.  We enjoyed the four parlors and the bar and especially the covered porches.....It was fun watching and meeting up with family coming and going.  I  hope I can add photos because everything is so picturesque. There is a fun cafe we met almost every day for breakfast called the Granite Mountain Cafe.  The Intersection Bar across the street has the best wings we have ever eaten.  One day we drove to Riggins and went white water rafting. A couple of times we drove to Mccall to kayak, dine and walk around enjoying the mountain views. I wish I had the money to buy this place.  It is amazing.


We came to New Meadows after riding the Weiser Trail.  We stayed one night in one of the motel rooms. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. The best part was talking to the owner about the history of the mansion and the town. The house is filled with family momentos and period furniture. It is a lovely way to get to know rural Idaho. We would stay here again.

My husband and I happened upon the Hartland Inn as we were traveling through the States.....what a delightful surprise!
We chose to experience the charm of the historic mansion and take in the full B&B experience, and were warmly welcomed by Rory and Sara, who were willing to share stories of the home and surrounding area.
We enjoyed the Sean Room, which was spacious, comfortable and clean.
Following a good night's sleep, we were served an AMAZING breakfast! Fresh, creative, locally sourced, abundant and generous.....absolutely delicious!
Rory was happy to supply a "to-go" package, so that we could enjoy the "still warm" blueberry-blackberry scones, for the road. We simply couldn't fit them in, after stuffing ourselves on the wonderful breakfast selections!
Rory and Sara have brought their personal flair to the Inn, since taking it over only one and a half years ago, and we wish them all the best in the future.
Thank you for your hospitality......we will look forward to staying with you again when we return to the New Meadows area!

Our stay at the Hartland Inn was a wonderful experience & we would definitely return, as well as refer our friends & family!  The rooms are clean, beautifully appointed and the continental breakfast ( for the Inn patrons) was an amazing gourmet delight!  We not only loved the quaintness of the Hartland Inn but the friendliness of the proprietors made us feel like we were family!  Will definitely be staying here again during my next travels to New Meadows. Thanks Rory, Sara & Violet for opening your home to us & allowing my extended family to tour the Inn and answer all the many history questions they had. You guys are simply amazing and I look forward to seeing you all again real soon!

We stayed in a suite with a fireplace, in the carriage house. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.The beds were extra firm. There are some sweet decorations in the room and building that keep with the historical atmosphere.
