We are here for the Mayo clinic. This hotel is 2 blocks from the clinic and the hotel next to ours has the subway entrance. Very convenient. Rate per night was great. We booked through hotels.com. Our stay was for 9 nights. Room was large, clean & neat. We had a queen bed, sofa bed and a matching chair along with a desk chair. We also had a large coffee table. TV is by spectrum, good channels but the guide did not work on the remote so you could not check to see whats on. Linens and towels were crisp and white. Bathroom was updated. Shower is stall only but it was new and clean. It had a bench if you needed to sit. New ceramic tile floor in bathroom. The rest of room had new looking clean carpet. Heat / AC unit worked great. My husband likes the room hot.  We were both surprised that we had to turn it down to 69 otherwise we were too warm. Shower was nice and hot. Continental was good enough! Coffee was strong & tasted good. Name brand mini donuts and muffins are offered. Name brand breakfast bars too.  Bananas, halos and apples were offered. Quality of fruit was very good. Oatmeal packets were available and you could get hard boiled egg or yogurt on request. Juices offered are orange or grape. You can eat in breakfast area or take to your room. Staff was polite pleasant and anxious to be helpful. They told us about the free shuttle to Walmart which was great as area food stores were expensive with poor choice options.

It took 3 visits to check-in to actually get a room.  The first room they gave me had not been cleaned.  After 10 minutes the clerk (very nice person, she was doing her best and apologized multiple times) was finally able to figure out how to move me to a new room.  Unfortunately that room was locked and I could not entered (yes, the key card was working).  Finally the third room I was given was enterable and clean.  Once in the room it was adequate, this isn't a 5-star hotel, but the price and location somewhat make up for the very dated and somewhat glum atmosphere. They saved themselves from as 1 star review, because on checkout the employee working noticed my key card envelope had 2 scratched out room numbers and inquired.  They did refund me about one third of the stay cost. I would probably stay again if the original room price was available.

Kind of what I expected....

This was the worst place I ever stayed.  Room was dark and smelly with stains on carpet.  Filthy bathroom.  No shuttle as advertised, but this was due to Covid.  The soap actually smelled stale and the shampoo was watered down.  The door did not close properly.  Looked as if it had been broken into.  Really thick dust on vent fans and AC unit.  Desk could not answer questions and had trouble operating check in system.  I booked 5 nights but only stayed one and that was I got in late.

Don’t stay here.

We had a week at Mayo. The location is great for the Gonda and Mayo buildings. Around the corner, the mayo subway level is available ate the Rodeway hotel door. 
This may have been a dorm in the past but is very dated. It was acceptable cleaning wise but I was Leary. No coffee maker in room. The room was very dark. No cups provided in room. There is a coffee machine as well as juice and some minimal breakfast item in a large lobby. They are slowly doing some updating in rooms but our window looked out onto a dumpster with toilets etc in it. The staff was friendly. The owner was not so much. They had cookies out in the afternoon. The rate w/o tax etc was $84 so it was a good price but you get what you pay for. Free parking. I didn’t have maid service all week as I didn’t want anyone in our room. Pics below may help. We will only spend more on future trips. 

Sub par adequate

The staff here is very friendly and helpful. My room was quite large, clean, and comfortable.  The hotel is quiet.  I didn't have the included breakfast because of tests I was having done.  But it looked ok. The price is reasonable for the location.  The best thing about it is the location - just two blocks from the Gonda Building at Mayo.

Very nice stay and convenient to Mayo Clinic

This is one of the few budget options (around $100) that is very conveniently located to the Mayo Clinic. The room was very spacious but not especially clean. The bed was lumpy, the linens of poor quality, and the pillows hard. The room hasn't been remodeled since the 1970s (perhaps original?). The breakfast was bare-bones continental.

About what you would expect for the price

Our room smells like pee and fire smoke damage our door wouldn't close properly doesn't seal properly bed is itchy and lumpy and uncomfortable there are stains on the carpet toilet seat doesn't stay up for men constant drip in the walls keeps you up all night AC heater has a stink spouse allergic to something on bed had to take a Benadryl no bath towels 

Anniversary 

Perfect location if you are going to Mayo clinic. They offer free transportation back and forth, we didn't use it because climate was perfect for a walk. 

They offer free breakfast but mostly carbs with the exception of the hard boiled eggs.

Staff is excellent, hotel is very plain but  have free coffee day and night close ti ther reception area.

Rooms include a refrigerator and microwave.

Close waking distante from Mayo

It is a short two block walk to Mayo and Gondo.  Simple clean accommodations, super quiet concrete building.  If you want more than a bed and breakfast you are in the wrong place but it is clean and the rooms have what you need.  Also has FREE PARKING which makes the price even better.  Elevator works !! and that's great because the only ice machine is on the third floor of the four story building.  Right next to Residence Inn so I had a good view of all the rooms that were almost twice the amount per night I was paying and they had to pay $16 more a night for parking (ha ha).  If you are going to Mayo there is a discounted rate so ask for it or look for it on their web site.

Best price near Mayo

Worked out fine because of location.  Great if all you want is a place the sleep and breakfast bar.  Nothing special but parking was included.  Check-in and check-out  were quick.  No extras like water in the room.  A/C was a little loud and tv remote didn’t fully work.
