Door would not lock , toilet ran all night !!! Stay away

The staff is super nice! The room was low cost compared to surrounding properties, but that didn’t affect the quality or cleanliness. It was cozy and quiet. I didn’t have any issues, and I would stay here again.

The staff was wonderful. Great place for an overnight. Was a bit humid, could hear other rooms TVs, but all in all great for the price!

Property was clean staff was very personable .

Soft sheets and a comfortable bed. The room was HOT when I arrived via motorcycle, it would have been nice if several rooms were prepped for the expected number of guests.

Very convenient place to stay as I journey along the MRT - Mississippi River Trailway

Beautiful view, gps wanted me to walk on water to get here.Ate at Anchor Bar close, great burger.

We would like to thank the staff when we checked in for moving our room to a lighted area being as we were on motorcycles. We had booked a room online which was on the dark side of the hotel so he voluntarily moved us up to the front so we were in the light. We can’t thank him enough for doing that for us!!

This was your basic cheap motel. Easy walking to a couple bars and restaurants, parking in front of door. Check in was easy and guy was friendly. But this is an older motel with a bit of a shabby run-down feel to it. I'm not fussy; the sheets were clean and toilet flushed, so I was content. However, there were dust bunnies in the corners, and lots of frayed fabric, and worn surfaces. My room (22?) had two rooms and the bedroom didn't have a tv and the chairs were a bit worn in the living room area. Again, functional and no bugs, so for one night to crash this was perfectly acceptable but not sure if I would want to use it as a base for a long vacation. Not nearly as bad as some of the other review would lead you to believe, however not as nice as it could be with a little TLC.

We were upgraded to a bigger, better room because of a booking mistake on the hotel's part.  The person at the desk seemed a little reluctant about the upgrade, but did it.  The room had a very comfy bed and thick carpet.  Older but elegant furnishings, which I liked though  I know that not everyone would.

V. Good room as a result of the hotel's reluctant upgrade

The gentleman that checked me in at the front desk was very courteous. He wanted my stay at The Itascan Motel to be a good one. He assured me they the room I was getting was clean. He explained the remote for the air conditioner. That came in handy! For one person, I ended up in a room that had three queen sized beds, room #17. Two were right there when you walked in, the other queen sized bed had a bedroom of its own. Room also had two sinks, a shower (no bathtub), a refrigerator, flatscreen TV, small microwave oven, and a coffee maker.

The decor of the room is a bit antiquated, but I didn’t have any problem with that at all. Actually, I found it amusing. When I stay at hotels/motels, I look for the “Three C’s.” 

As mentioned above, the gentleman that checked me in was “Courteous.” The room I stayed in, #17, was “Clean.” I easily fell asleep because the bed and pillows were so “Comfortable.” 

WiFi: After several attempts to connect, I gave up. Directions are taped to the inside of the room door.

Shower: The water got good and hot! Nice!

Air Conditioner: Works with remote. Seemed that the fan only had one speed, slow. I couldn’t get it up to medium or high. Still, even on low, it kept the room cool.

Smoking: One of the hotel guests was sitting outside of his room on a chair smoking. I was getting wafts of smoke as I brought things into the room.

Quiet: I slept so well, not only because the bed clean and comfortable, it was so quiet here during my stay.

Parking: I enjoy it greatly when I can park right outside my door! That’s always a plus!

Bottom Line: I’d stay here again! Thank you very much to owner/manager!


Courteous! Clean! Comfortable!

It was clean, it was cheap, the front staff was friendly enough. The heat for the room was provided by a oil heater, which I had plugged into the outlet and realized an hour later that the outlet didn't work very well and the heater had stopped heating. I was cold almost all night long, about time for me to get up and leave it was finally beginning to get warm. The bad had some kind of protector on it that basically felt like sleeping on 5 mil visqueen plastic. The room was very very very small, and the bathroom was absolutely tiny. You had enough room to get to the toilet and sit down but that's about it. Forget about two people even being in this bathroom at the same time, let alone two people doing something at the same time. Although, it was by far the cheapest room in the area that looks decent, if I was in the area again and needed a room, I would probably stay there again.

bare bones basics

My group had a hotel mixup down the road and everything else in town was booked solid.  We came upon the Itascan as an absolute last resort at midnight...by the look of it we were all a little nervous.

The woman who checked us in had the absolute best customer service I've ever experienced!  She gave us a discount on the rooms after talking to us a bit regarding our situation without us even asking.  She also told is that we were perfectly safe because her husband is a police officer!  I can't speak her praises enough.

The rooms are extremely outdated and have an obvious, strong smell of years of cigarette smoke.  They're well used.  The AC unit in my room is definitely from the seventies and the filter was a bit gunky so I didn't turn it on to try to take care of the stuffy feeling but the overall temp was comfortable.

The room was shockingly clean.  I didn't see one fleck of debris on the carpet, one speck of dust anywhere!

Yes, the shower is tiny, beds are old...well, everything was a bit aged but the cleanliness was a huge surprise.  

Overall, I'd say it's a good place to stop if all you're doing is taking a night's rest.
