The Betsy - South Beach

We recently celebrated my birthday at The Betsy in South Beach, and I couldn’t have asked for a more memorable evening. From the moment we stepped into the bar area, the experience was elevated by a talented pianist playing beautiful music that set the perfect tone for the evening. My girlfriend and I relaxed in the comfortable lounge seating, enjoying a bottle of champagne and an ounce of caviar served with all the classic accoutrements. The caviar was of excellent quality and surprisingly good value—something not easy to find in this part of town. We were running a bit late for our dinner reservation, but the staff was incredibly accommodating. Our server, Nathan, ensured our table was held and discreetly informed the team that it was my birthday. When we were escorted to the dining area, we were seated at a lovely table and warmly welcomed with The Betsy's signature popovers—fluffy and flavorful, reminiscent of BLT Steak’s version (which makes sense, as we later learned the chef had a background there). Nathan was a true professional—personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. He guided us through the menu with thoughtful explanations. We started with the Betsy Crab Cake, which was fresh and expertly prepared. For dinner, my girlfriend enjoyed a perfectly cooked petite filet mignon, while I indulged in the wagyu burger with hand-cut fries—birthday calories don’t count, right? Everything was delicious. A special shout-out to Amy, the manager, who ensured every detail was flawless. Her attentiveness and warmth did not go unnoticed. To top off the evening, the team surprised me with a birthday dessert—complete with a candle—and it was the perfect sweet finish. The Betsy itself is a South Beach treasure. Located at the quieter, more refined end of Ocean Drive, it offers easy access with close parking or valet. The rooftop is stunning, the ambiance is eclectic yet elegant, and the hotel is filled with striking retro photography that adds depth to the overall experience. As locals from Miami (and former New Yorkers), we appreciate good service and high-quality food—and The Betsy delivered on both. The staff were all genuinely pleasant and hardworking, creating an atmosphere that was refined but never stuffy. A sincere thank-you to Nathan, Amy, and the entire team for making our evening so special. We’ll absolutely be back.
