The Weathervane Motel

Quite surprised by the other reviews but me and my husband had a fantastic stay. The rooms were clean and the owners were very helpful. It's a husband and wife that runs it and they were accommodating and helpful when we had questions. They also were very helpful with suggestions of what to do in the area. We'll definitely be coming again when we're in the area.

We just stayed for two nights. Everything was clean, quiet and a pleasant. This is an affordable option for spending some times in the beautiful Berkshires. Will definitely recommended and use them again.

Good position, clean, lost my glasses and they found them and called me. Could do with a little updating but would have no problem staying again. A good bar and restaurant is within walking distance overlooking the lake. We ate there and it was good. He gave us free beers.

Clean and Great value

Quick, easy, clean and affordable stay in the Berkshires!

Overnight stay

Stayed here while attending a wedding in the area. Basic motel, basic furnishings, dated. The bathroom needs an update-shower surround was stained, fan did not work, thin towels and the TV did not work. 
Basic for sure. 
Glad we were only staying for the  night.
Read the other reviews and they were accurate!

Adequate 

We booked through Hotels.com for 4 nights at about $80 per night.  Basic room had 2 double beds, free wifi, wall mounted flat TV,  coffee maker, microwave and fridge.  You park your car in front of your room.  Motel sits back off Route 7, with a large lawn in front.  Nothing fancy, but adequate accommodations for staying in the Berkshires.  Some minor road noise, but not too bad.  Motel has 12 rooms.

Our rooms were clean, but dated.  The air conditioners just about kept up with the humidity, but not very well.  Like a lot of motels in August, it's always a bit damp from humidity and thunderstorms, so good AC is important so that the rooms aren't sticky-feeling.  

The bedding and towels were not luxurious, but they did the trick.  Check in was fine.  The price was fair for the comparative distance from the big arts attractions.

One ick factor: while it was clear that the linens were properly laundered, etc., the person doing laundry just have long black hair, and there would be a strand of hair stuck to the laundry.  Hopefully that person can wear a hat or tie their hair back, and the motel can invest in a better dryer filter.

Clean but dated

I am not sure who my beef is with, the ownership or Booking.com because each blames the other party.
I accidentally double booked rooms at the Weathervane and discovered the problem two weeks in advance of my stay and tried to cancel one of the reservations. One r derivation was a single night, the other was a two night stay. While I only needed the one night, I offered to stay two nights and asked to cancel the single.  I called the motel who instructed me to contact Booking.com, which I did. The folks at Booking.com put me on hold and tried contacting the motel.  Several minutes later the lady at Booking.com came back on line to say she tried the 3 numbers they have for the motel but nobody would answer the phone. We verified the number that I had successfully used.  When I arrived at the motel the clerk was very aware of my reservations but told me Booking.com never contacted her even after I said I was on hold with them while they tried. The clerk refused to cancel the single night but said she would try to rent the last remaining room on my behalf.  Already suspecting the truth wasn't being told, I was told the room wasn't rented but I had no way to if it had or had not.
Two weeks notice and they refused to cancel the lesser of two rooms. Someone isn't telling the whole truth but I have used Booking.com multiple times without a problem. 
The motel itself is a small mom & pop operation, very basic but clean with a small shower stall.  
There are other motels in the area.

Uncooperative owners

Way too expensive for what it is. It's a cheap motel room which is way over priced. It was clean, no breakfast included, and I thought there was, or should have been for that price! Tiny bathroom, towels weren't great, but I wasn't surprised..

Awful value

Towels can be used to read through. Rooms small. Stayed here years ago, absolutely no upgrades since then. I would not recommend staying here even tho Travelocity gave it 2.5 stars. Not even convenient to many restaurants.

This has seen better days

Booked this place because I had a ticket to the BSO at Tanglewood.

Upon arrival, all of the owners' cars (all black cars of the kind usually used in transport services) were double parked and completely filled the parking area for the motel office, which is set away from the guest rooms.

I rang the bell for the motel office twice and then called on my cellphone.  It took someone five minutes to arrive and check me in.  It was 7 PM during summer, so I wasn't showing up after dark or at some weird hour.

All of this was no big deal compared to what ended up happening.

The motel office was small with sparse, perfunctory decor - a Hindu calendar and an iPad.

I was given room 101.  I booked a room with a single king bed and was given two double beds.  Again, not the biggest deal, but because it's Berkshire arts season, lodging is in high demand.  Also, I am a person of color, so I usually don't get the best establishments have to offer.

I was in the room for a couple of minutes.  From what I saw, the decor was old and cheap but it would have been okay for one evening.  Not the best place by a mile but okay for under $100 a night.

Upon entry, I noticed there was white duct tape across the center of the room's window and also around the entire window frame. Written on the duct tape across the center of the window was "broken glass".  The window was unlocked and slightly open.  Because I am a woman traveling solo, I had to inspect the window to ensure that it did lock and the glass wasn't just taped in or anything like that, because that's what it looked like.  In the process of doing that, I was cut by broken glass.

I grabbed my stuff and went back to the office.  When I exited the room, I noticed the woman who checked me in had been watching me from a window in the house where the office is.  I told her that I was not staying.  She replied that she would not refund my money(!)  I told her that I would then put in a dispute with my credit card company.  That it was ridiculous that they would rent a room in that condition.

Called the booking site I use for lodging reservations.  They are usually pretty good with handling problems during stays, but I will sue if I have to.

In short, this business rented me an unsafe room with a broken window and sharp glass that cut me.  I ended up missing the performance I was supposed to see at Tanglewood because I was in my car bleeding and on the phone with the booking site.  Can I ask, what if I had kids?  Would they even care, I wonder?

This is a shady business - avoid!
