Excellent appointed super clean accommodation close to parks, restaurants, beaches, grocery stores. I am a repeat guest and always impressed with this condo. Beautiful sunsets, and the treat of seeing many turtles on my daily walk in Kalama Park! Excellent hosts!

The condo was even more beautiful and clean than it looked in the photos. Plenty of room for us, well laid out and labelled (drawers etc - very helpful) and everything we needed was here. Beach chairs, umbrella and even a cooler were provided! Sunsets were beautiful and can be viewed from the comfort of your own lanai. Very close to restaurants, bars, grocery stores etc and right across the street from Kalama Park and of course the ocean. We are repeat guests and highly recommend this property.

You are so on top of it and seriously amazing.  You have been so easy to work with for both of our reservations.

Well this was our 5th time staying in this condo and already have our 2 weeks booked for 2021. When you find a condo with a great location, great view, great amenities etc. why look elsewhere! Last year Dorli put in a new fridge with ice and water in the door, nice addition. Also Love the mini split AC units in main living and and bedroom for separate control. Even though I travel with my own knifes noticed the new knives in the condo were a definite upgrade.

Island Surf 501 Gem!

We recently stayed at #312 Island Surf listed on VRBO.  Unfortunately, #312 Island Surf isn’t the “home” we were hoping for.  Everything about this unit was disappointing.  The master bedroom shower did not turn on, and the toilet did not flush properly, and tank ran all night.  There was barely any water pressure from the second bathroom shower, and the water in the tub did not drain.  Both bathrooms were filthy and the fixtures were old and rusty.  I called the Onsite Manager to attend to these items, who did respond quickly.  A plumber attended the same day to fix the master bedroom shower and auger the toilet, but ignored the other issues.  The following day, I called again regarding the kitchen tap dripping non-stop.  The Manager explained that they are aware of all these issues, as the previous guest had complained as well, but it is a big problem which can only be resolved by shutting down the water to the unit for 2 days.  If I was okay with this, then they will shut down the water to repair during my stay.  Obviously indoor plumbing was something that I wanted, so I had to live with the problems.  Other than plumbing issues, the window air conditioners rattled and were put on a timer so that you had to turn it back on every hour.  The second bedroom had no drapes (only sheers) so my kids couldn’t sleep after the sun came up.  I have never slept on a more uncomfortable bed.  If you have back issues, please be warned.  Everything about the unit was gross, the furniture and walls were sticky and dirty, and nothing was updated.  The location is good.  I reached out to the Management Company, who responded with “Sorry you feel this way.”  ……. Hmmm …. He is sorry that I feel the right to have working plumbing and cleaniness???!!! Honestly you can find a better place.

We travel often, and one of things we always do is to inspect the rental property for being sure it is clean and as described by the owner, especially the beds in order to be sure they are clean and do not have any bed bugs!  When we removed the covers from both mattresses in the bedrooms, to our shock they show huge areas of "pee stains".  It was disgusting, and raised huge concerns since we believe that this is unhealthy and unacceptable.

We refused to stay at this condo, and we booked rooms in a hotel for our stay.  We were so grossed out by the smell and what we saw.

We contacted VRBO via telephone and they instructed us to contact the owner and send them the pictures of the dirty mattresses which we did.  To our huge surprise and disbelief, the owner responded partly by saying "Lastly, high quality mattresses, such as my Simmons Beautyrest Pillow-top mattresses, are very expensive and are not normally replaced because they have stains on them. That is why there are mattress pads, mattress bags and mattress covers - to protect the mattress AND to protect the user. The mattresses are sprayed with sanitizer between every guest and they are perfectly safe to use.".  The owner simply believes that by spraying and covering the stains on these mattresses that guests should not worry!  I will leave it up to you to decide.

The condo listing stated in Amenities "AIR CONDITIONING".  By default, this should mean an air conditioned condo!  This is also not a correct representation of the facts since there was one small a/c unit in living room area.  We started the a/c the minute we walked into the condo since it was too hot despite the fact that windows were open and fans were running in each room.  After an hour, the temperature in even the living room was 78 degrees.  The rooms were much hotter.  When we contacted the owner, she stated "As for the condo being hot when you entered - yes, you are in the tropics. The fans were left on and the windows were left open slightly, at my request, so that you would not enter into a very hot condo. I have no control over the sun and the temperature in Maui."

We requested a full refund from the owner which she did not even address in her reply to our email.  She simply said "I apologize if you did not find everything to your liking", then she added "Again, I am sorry that my home was not to your liking".  

In addition, the owner stated "I pride myself in presenting a very clean, attractive and well-stocked vacation rental condo. My guests, over the past 9 years, have never had complaints such as yours.".  I guess no one ever looked at those mattresses!

We contacted VRBO again and requested their help in resolving this issue.  We have not heard from VRBO yet, but we hope that we do soon.  We rented from VRBO  in the past and we had good experience, so I doubt that VRBO is aware of the issues with this condo and that the owner is hiding this filth from guests. 

In addition, the owner stated "I pride myself in presenting a very clean, attractive and well-stocked vacation rental condo. My guests, over the past 9 years, have never had complaints such as yours.".  I guess no one ever looked at those mattresses!

Our main concern is to protect other potential renters.  We wanted to share these photos with others so they may know the facts, and avoid being scammed by similar listings.  We hope we will be refunded the money we paid for rental cost and the $500 deposit since we never stayed in this condo unit.  I added pictures of both mattresses so you are able to judge for yourself if the owner is being truthful in describing her property correctly on the VRBO listing.

The owner of this unit proceeded by rating me as a "POOR "guest on my VRBO profile simply because I pointed out the filth on the mattresses despite of the fact that I contacted her often before our trip started, I paid her the advanced payment on time, I paid the rest of the rent money before we arrived into the condo and I paid her a $500 deposit for if we damaged anything in this condo.  I did everything 100% correct.  We also never stayed at this unit, so she should at the least refund my $500 deposit.

In our opinion, the owner and VRBO should apologize and at the least refund us the money we paid to rent this property.  In addition they should compensate us for our troubles and poor treatment by this owner.  They should pay for our hotel stay cost.  Hotel charges were in access of $1450 for renting two rooms since were were two couple.
