Monadnock Inn

Hi it’s a beautiful inn and very comfortable

The place is over coming new ownership so it has work being done but the new owners seem nice and our room was nice a clean and the bed was super comfy. I would love to see it in a year to see all the renovations done.

The Monadnock Inn is historic and charming, located in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.  Hosts are very friendly, helpful, and our room was very comfortable.  We will definitely be back.   The large veranda with rocking chairs is the perfect place to sit and enjoy an early morning coffee.

It is a novel and charming experience to stay in an old country inn.  This hotel fit the description exactly.  Creaky floors and doors add character to the place and to the experience.   The proprietors take good care of you, and add to the enjoyment of a retreat from the fast pace of the contemporary world.

We had a wonderful stay! The owner was very sweet and helpful.

It is like stepping into the past. The antique furnishings and the inn being built in 1832.

This Inn is vintage but clean and comfortable. Exactly what I hoped for in New England!

When I first pulled up, I was disappointed to see that the Inn had obviously seen better times. But once I walked in the front door, all trepidation quickly left as the historic ambiance of this 197 year old Inn overtook any negative feelings I may have had. This old dame has had its share of problems and still needs some tlc but the feel has not left her. Each room is unique & special and if you are looking for a true New England Inn experience, you have found one. There are no cookie cutter rooms here and the welcome with which this 1830 Inn embraces you will not disappoint. I enjoyed my lavender walls, comfortable bed and claw foot tub and will definitely be back!

A stay in old New England

It’s a very old Inn.  They were not serving food, but that made the stay very quite and very peaceful.   If you like a lot of attention, don’t stay here.  I like the serenity and would stay here again.  If you do need assistance,  The manager was responsive if you call the number of the front desk. I set up my laptop for work in the non used dining area and worked peacefully for several hours.  👍

Restful and relaxing

A funky old in with uneven floors and some paint that looks like it was done by a drunk amateur. It has personality. It also had plenty of quilts/blankets, which I rarely get enough of in other hotels, and the AC worked great, too. I'm sorry that the restaurant/breakfast wasn't open, but maybe next time.

This is your home grown type of Inn, antique furniture, creaky beds, flower wallpaper. It’s about the experience, which I am a huge fan of. It’s an old dusty adorable inn, it has character & charm. If you’re looking for a fancy hotel this isn’t your place. I personally prefer the mom & pop feel. It makes for great memories. The woman at the desk was kind and thoughtful. Additionally, it’s in close proximity to mount monadnock.

Charming Inn

I just stayed one night this trip, so I can only judge by one night, property was very homey and well cared for, I had a small room because that is all I needed, it was very cozy, the only disadvantage was no tv in the room and my internet wasn’t the greatest, not sure it was my fault or just the connection.

Quaint inn, reminded me of a Victorian home

When I was browsing for New England BnBs within weekend distance of Boston, I had a LOT to choose from. So I highlighted the items most important to me: 
1) A fancy hot breakfast included with the room price, 
2) Comfy-looking rooms with professional-looking decor and decent bedding, 
3) An en-suite bath, 
4) Reasonably affordable, and 
5) Accepting visitors from Massachusetts during Covid.

Monadnock Inn fit the bill on all counts, and I was very excited to find it. So many other places weren't serving breakfast, or sounded good on paper but were poorly furnished, or were stupid expensive.  Monadnock Inn was a good balance of all my priorities for the trip.

The inn could certainly use some maintenance, and some art and fixtures could be updated. Our ensuite bathroom was sufficient but not luxurious. Or even nicely appointed.

But you know what WAS luxurious and nicely appointed? The GIANT FOUR-POSTER BED that was waist-height and covered with poofy bedding! The room was extremely cozy and comfortable. And what quick glimpses I saw of the neighboring rooms (their doors were open as we walked by), the other rooms looked perfectly lovely as well. 

And the food and service were great! We had appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and everything was delectable. Brunch was delicious, too. I've had better french toast, but the breakfast sausage was amazing. I wonder if it's sourced locally. 

The inkeeper (Dave, I think?) was relatively new, I think, and he was a down-to-earth, jovial fellow who obviously took pride in connecting with guests and making a nice experience. 

So know what you're looking for. If you're looking for a modern, spotless place with shining brass and white-gloved staff, this is not for you. If you're looking for a down-to-earth, charming, old-fashioned, and comfortable country inn, with delicious food and pretty rooms and friendly staff, then this place is pretty special.
