A gem in Havana. I found this the only pace to stay along the main highway. I lucked out. Remodeled and updated room looked new--including the bathroom! Electonrinc locks, WIFY, Fridge coffee maker. Huge Room with 2 nice easy chairs. Clean carpet. Service was friendly. Quiet place. 67-70 inch LCD flat screen on the wall. The reception was not good, but hey I am not a TV addict anyways. Definitely would stay there again on my travels on the back roads of America! Only $50 a night.

Choices in my hometown of Havana are limited but Red Lion Motor Lodge met my requirements of low prices and cleanliness. I spent three nights July 23, 24, & 25 of 2018 while visiting family and friends and was completely satisfied.

After reading the very mixed reviews we were somewhat hesitant about making reservations at the Red Lion.
Our experience was good in every way. The room was very nice, clean, comfortable, door parking, affordable and very quiet. The shower was just right and a good nights sleep. 
We look forward to attending future Drag Races and Festivals in the beautiful little city of Havana on the Illinois River. Checkout the brick paved streets downtown..!
Put the Havana OctoberFest on yer bucket list...

Good experience at the Red Lion in Havana IL

Clean & reasonably priced.

I used this hotel for a two night stay recently and it was fine. Not a five star property, but it was clean and served the purpose. One minor complaint was that I went to the front desk on the afternoon after my first night’s stay and was asked if I needed clean towels. I did not, but when I got to my room, I discovered their had been no housekeeping performed at all. I’m not sure why the room wasn’t checked that morning. I think I may have been the only guest there that first night The next day the room was  cleaned. 

Reasonable Lodging 

My husband and I stayed at this motel for two days for my friend's wedding. The motel wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best either. I noticed how the room appeared clean but the bathroom didn't once I inspected as I found lots of dust and hair throughout the bathroom. The coffee pot was filthy and everything appeared dusty. I found spider webs so I don't trust that they did a proper cleaning throughout the room. The towels were pathetic. My husband is tiny and barely had enough to cover his body. If you are going to stay, bring your own towels. They were thin and more like a giant washcloth to me. The king-size bed was really comfortable. The main reason we stayed was for the price. The day-time receptionist/maid was very kind and informative.

Lastly, they advertise on the website they offer a room with a Jacuzzi (only one) but when asking about it at the front desk, it was noted to me that it doesn't even work if I did end of renting that room. Secondly, they advertise continental breakfast but nope, they no longer offer that as well. If you don't offer it then don't advertise it!!! I will consider other options if we stay in the area again, even if I have to travel further.

Wedding Stay

Came to do the Spoon River Drive tour Oct 2017.  Stayed at the Red Lion.  DO NOT FOLLOW GPS it takes you a screwy way.  If coming off the big Bridge-turn at the McDonald's, go up a few blocks and turn at the stop sign at the BP gas station, that street takes you directly to Red Lion.

The carpet was new, so that was nice.  Has a nice sized mini fridge and microwave in room, has a hair dryer.  All decent.  The bed was super comfy, stayed in room 131. TV reception is not good.  The negative is the bathroom was not cleaned well at all. Stray hairs all around, and there was 3 of us in the room, so ahead of time they should have put in more towels.  They only put in 2 towels, 2 washcloths, 1 hand towel.  Luckily one person in our group decided they wouldn't shower that day.    The choices are super limited, this really isn't bad at all and I would say go ahead and stay here.  You'll sleep soundly.  We plan to do the Spoon River again, and we will stay here again - we'll bring some wipes to wipe down the bathroom a bit (snicker snicker).  This review is from 3 middle aged ladies. (45-50 yrs)

Decent enough to stay & to return if in the area. Comfy beds was a big plus.

Oct 2021 visit. There isn't much choice in the area-so you are basically stuck choosing this place.  I was here 4 years ago and it was a bit better back than, has gone downhill.  The room smelled so bad, so musty, moldy like an old basement. A GIANT trailer directly next to/partially in front of our door filled with garbage.  They were possibly fixing an area of the roof ?? but there was other kind of garbage in that trailer too-I was shocked that they actually put people on that side-back of motel-they should be embarrassed to do so.  Housekeeping does a terrible job. Furniture is old and cruddy, but was dusty and needed to be cleaned well.  Light fixture by the beds did not work/turn on.  HAIRS from previous guests all over the bathroom floor!  The soap-had to be 5 years old, brittle, hard, dried out, no smell.  The towels-I do think were washed, but being stuck in that stinky, musty room - smelled the same way.  Spider webs on the HEADBOARD. We don't think anyone actually had stayed in that room for a while.  Too musty/moldy smelling, too many spider webs.  TONS of bugs-dead by the front door. June bugs, Stink bugs.  This place needs to go around, put on the A/C prior to guest arrival, open windows, air it out, purchase and install Glade Plug Ins. Make sure all the fixtures work, VACUUM well.  Check prior to guest check-in for bugs, trash around the front of the door.  SO DISGUSTING.  surprisingly/shockingly the bed & pillows were comfortable.  the TV worked in our room but was fuzzy/static.  If you can AVOID THIS PLACE DO SO.  Additionally, I think some people may live here!  3 rooms had pots & pan set outside their doors, boots, shoes..  they are cooking in there!!!!

Before going here, get a candle or room spray & Lysol wipes

Fall 2022, disgusting!! Bugs everywhere. the musty smell was overwhelming!! The put us in a room towards the  back that had a GIANT trash dump9 in front of  it..why would  they do that? DISGUSTING 
The 2 lamps by the beds didn't work, 1 didn't have a  bulb even. The towels I think had been in there for 1 year, musty & undress. It was obvious no one had stepped foot  into the  room for MONTHS there were cobwebs on both headboards- significant amount of webs!! People live here in the rooms I think,  its housing for transient people.
