What a great little B&B! Super friendly couple that are very helpful. Beautiful clean room with comfy bed. The earplugs are welcome as the coqui frogs are very loud every night. Breakfast is delicious every morning. Will definitely stay here again.

Spent 2 nights here, while visiting the east side of the island. The Bay House is close to town, and we were able to walk to Jackie Rays for dinner. Highly recommend! Food was excellent! Bed was comfortable and ear plugs are provided for the coqui frogs that you will hear after sunset. Breakfast each morning on the lanai was a delight. Fresh fruit, banana bread, and an egg dish. Very relaxing to eat on our lanai listening to the crashing waves. There is “help yourself” to chocolates or popcorn located in the common guest area. You can also use the small refrigerator in the common area, if needed. Great place to stay, if you are in Hilo. 

Tina's hospitality far exceeded our expectations!!  We wanted a place to stay for a few days on the east side of the island after spending 5 days near Kona.  This was the perfect choice!  Tina greeted us and explained how everything works.  She prepared outstanding breakfasts for us each morning, and we enjoyed eating them on our private lanai.  She even gave us ear plugs in case the coqui frogs were bothersome.  (We just drowned them out with white noise from our phone app.)  Highly recommend this if you want a few days on the east side, which I also recommend.

My wife and I stayed in the Harbor room and enjoyed our visit very much. The decoration of the room was marvellous, there was a balcony with a gorgeous view over the bay and the location is very close to town, but doesn't feel like it. I didn't actually meet the owners, but my wife told me they were lovely. There was a lot of frog calling noise at night, and ear plugs are provided, but I found it quite restful. Some drinks facilities in the room would have made the place absolutely perfect.

Our recent trip to Hilo was made perfect at the Bay House Bed and Breakfast.  The hospitality of Tom and Tina was over and beyond our expectations.  The rooms are simply lovely, beautifully decorated , with extra comfy beds.  We spent lots of time on the lanai watching the ocean and views of Hilo. A wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, banana bread, and eggs was served on lovely china and was so delicious.  Our every need was taken care of by Tom and Tina and we left feeling like family!  We would recommend the Bay House to anyone who visits Hilo.

When we’re traveling, we’re looking for lovely views, clean rooms and a comfortable bed, and a tasty breakfast. We found all this and more at the Bay House. Our Bay Room was charmingly decorated and came with a leather recliner loveseat. We watched surfers and ate breakfast from our lanai. The bathroom was immaculate and well-appointed. Breakfast always included fresh fruit, eggs, bread, coffee and some fresh baked goodie. We could use the refrigerator to store leftovers from lunch which we often ate for dinner on our private lanai.  

The Bay House is an ideal location for exploring Hilo and the surrounding area. You are short drive, or even within walking distance of the downtown area. It’s a 45 minute drive to the newly created black sand beach at Pahoa, which we did on Tina’s recommendation. If you go, be sure to treat yourself to lunch at the Pahoa Fresh Fish. We also visited the Tropical Botanical Gardens, Rainbow and Akaka Falls. Oh, and we did some swimming at Carlsmith and Richardson Beach Parks.  

Tina was the perfect hostess. She was hospitable and also respected our privacy. She thoughtfully put out wine glasses, chocolates, and popcorn for us in the evening. Hoping we get to return here.

We stayed 5 nights in the Palm Room. The room is south side of the house. There’s a nice sound of crashing waves and also, since the house is near the Hawaii Belt Road a fairly constant road noise. The bed was comfortable and the towels in particular soft and bright white. We experienced only two different breakfast menus during our stay, so the food while initially tasty became boring. Amenities were sparse.  For example, there were 6 different types of tea bags available, a nice selection, but only one bag of each type. The location is very close to Hilo, but there’s no sidewalk to town and we felt uncomfortable walking close to cars at going 45 mph. Parking in Hilo was readily available.

We stayed here 3 nights as a couple and had a lovely stay. The location is excellent - on the bay, only a couple of mins drive to the center of Hilo. Each room has a lanai looking out over Hilo Bay. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with enough space to spread out. Breakfast was lovely. The hosts are very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
