After a long day of driving, we were blown away by the serenity and beauty of the views from the lodge. Our upper bluff room balcony offered a wonderful place to watch the stars come out as we sat outdoors late into the evening. The room was clean, quiet and calming with all the expected amenities. The restaurants were closed on the Sunday evening to Monday morning of our stay so plan accordingly. Fortunately we had packed ample healthy snacks for our road trip so were disappointed but not without options. The pool area is stunning as is the old school grandeur of the lodge lobby. In our experience the front desk staff was courteous and friendly. The only drawback is that for a one-night only stay along a road trip, the 20 plus mile trek from I-59 to the lodge...then back out again in the morning is long. The location of this resort is more suitable as a several-night destination.

We stayed in one of the chalets. Not only was our weekend a great value, the chalet was lovely! And the views were stunning! The furniture was nicer than some I’ve seen at other state parks, and the mattresses and linens were great quality. We are already planning our next trip back.

A little outdated, but clean. The view from certain patios is absolutely breathtaking. I love this place. This was our third trip to Lake Guntersville, but the first time staying at the lodge. Would stay there again.

We stayed in a non-balcony room and loved it!  The picture windows gave us a great view of the lake and hills.  We were lucky to spy an eagle flying nearby. The lodge rooms were nice and roomy for us!  We enjoyed dining in the restaurant in the evening. We loved being on top of the mountain. Everyone was very helpful. Walking the grounds and taking in the views from the pool area were enjoyable. We enjoyed visiting Guntersville and having lunch, as well as the museum downtown. We took day trips to the Space Center and Cathedral Caverns. We are looking forward to our next stay in May 2023.

The lodge is very impressive. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. Easy access from the room to the restaurant. From the balcony, you can look down on the lake and sea eagles circling. While the lodge is expansive and very attractive, everything but our room and the restaurant was cold. This may have been because we were there during the off season. We had looked forward to hiking a couple of trails. However, it was 39 degrees, misting and windy.

Weekday continental breakfast was adequate, I understand weekend is better.  Restaurant is only open certain days and it's a long drive back to town. We can't wait to go back. 

We haven't been able to for four years. Two hurricanes and do to Covid outbreak. The Guntersville dam is really awesome and the state park. There is a lot to see and do there. We stay at the Wyndham  at Lake Guntersville.  It is really nice.The staff is really  friendly and great.The restaurants  around  there are good.

We attended a wedding here and the wedding was spectacular and the scenery and views are breathtaking. The rooms were nice and it was very quaint, and quiet atmosphere. The lodge is beautiful with zip lining and golf course two minutes from the lodge. Lots of trails if you enjoy hiking. Deer running around everywhere. If your into camping the campground was amazing we had friends staying down there and lots to do. Cliff jumping, bike riding, one wheeling, beach sitting, swimming, boat rental. Super fun State Park definitely recommend a trip here.

The lodge is very well kept, as well as the rooms themselves. We stayed in a king, bluff side, which I definitely recommend for the view. Even though we went off season, the restaurant was open all day and serves breakfast lunch and dinner. Prices were super reasonable. We ate breakfast twice, and one night had the pulled pork nachos, that were really good. Because of covid and off season, zip lines did not run, and the lounge was only open a few hours one night we were there.  We drove around the park and saw several deer, visited the camp grounds, where they have a very nice beach. My only complaint, is if you are a coffee drinker, the in room coffee is not very good. If you are an early riser and like coffee, the resturaunt doesn't open until 8. I did understand that during the week there is a continental breakfast, but not sure what time they begin to serve. Overall a great weekend get a way.

We stayed in a chalet at the Lodge while attending a friend's wedding.  Everything needed was in one spot.  The vows were taken on the balcony overlooking the beautiful lake, the rest of the activities happened just inside, including the meal, dancing, and cutting of the cake.  Attendees could lodge here (room or chalet options), dine here, vacation here (zip line on site, plus lake activities and horseback riding nearby) and town is close by.  There are plenty of walking trails, a small cave to explore, and an area where you can see emus, donkeys, and goats.  Outstanding scenery.  Chalets are...rustic, need some TLC, but beautiful views of the lake.  Chalets come with outdoor bbq stand, two TVs (you have to aim the remotes properly for them to work), two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, gas fireplace, balcony, kitchenette, etc.  Carpet needs to be stretched.  Bathroom exhaust fan is rusted and half falling off, but everything works.  The balcony is cement with small stones in it.  Don't walk barefoot.

Pleasant Lodge Stay with Serene View

We recently stayed  in a suite at the lodge which had two rooms…the bedroom and a sitting room with a leather sofa and chair, a coffee table, plus a wood table and two chairs.  The TV was in a cabinet with drawers.  There was a second TV in the bedroom.  We also had two closets and 1 full bath which featured both a bath tub and a separate shower. There was also one half bath.  Plus we had two picture windows to view the lake.

There is an elevator or you may use the stairs which are close by.

We went to the dining room for dinners and breakfasts.  Each time that was a buffet probably due to the fact that two groups were meeting at the lodge.  We did not need to drive into town, which is several miles away, for our meals.

If possible drive around the park to see the golf course, the camping areas, the cabins and the chalets which are located near the lodge.

Good choice for lodging

The Lodge was more than we were expecting.   The 3 floors were arranged in an unusual “split level” form with entrances forming down the middle.  The view of the lake was spectacular and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking it.  Most of all the place was quiet.  The Lodge itself is beautiful with a large stone fireplace, big black bear, a beautiful Conference room and a restaurant buffet that was fairly good.

The positives: Go For The View and the lake. Both are amazing. Stay in a chalet. We had 403 and it's been somewhat renovated. The trees have been cleared so you have this great view from the balcony on the back of the chalet. We had coffee with the eagles this morning.  I would say the furnishings are basic but fine. It was clean although 4 or 5 people sharing a chalet with one outdated bathroom is not the best. But it had a kitchen and a game table, TVS in every room and these huge windows with the view. The beds were very comfortable. The sofa in the den area is NOT a sofa bed. Front desk personnel confirmed that every chalet had a sofa bed and that is is not the case. We wondered why a national chain like Hilton taking this over and completely making it a star property? It has So Much Potential. The restaurant is good but only open on the weekends so plan ahead and bring snacks. The pool and gym were both good. Plan to just sit outside on the back balcony and take in the views. Really exceptional. The main lodge and check in area are better than expected. It's a lot like Brasstown Bald in GA but bigger. Everybody working here is super nice. I see so many good things about this place, but it still needs more updating and they are so close to hitting it out of the ballpark but still needs some work. We heard from several other guests that the rooms at the main lodge are outdated. I cannot comment on that since we didn't stay there but we were glad the chalets had been updated recently. Also great are the golf course on property with nicely manicured greens and the zipline service. Both are on the agenda tomorrow. Plenty to do. As I said, so close and so much potential.

Pay for a room with view of the lake.  Worth the extra expense. 

Planned a month or so in advance for an Aug 30-Sept 1 trip.   Booked a challet.   Upon arrival the place was not super clean but adequate.   Smelled funny inside too.    No wifi was present.   Called lodge personnel and was told maintenance would come out but never did.   She also stated some of the unit's hadn't been updated yet.   I stated that I rented a room that said it had wifi.  I was then told I could come get my money back and leave if I wanted.    Not even offered another unit. Luckily our phone hotspots worked enough to get by but that's not the point.  Final bill was nearly 100 bucks more after "fees".   Seafood Buffet in lodge was horrible.    Service in there was less than stellar.  Overall the only positive was the view.   Golf course was half shut down too.    Wont be back anytime soon.
