Very clean, very friendly staff, the rooms are very spacious, stayed here a few times and always come back, always satisfied when staying here. Such a wonderful place to stay if you want to go to AC and want a cheaper option, i highly recommend staying here.

My husband and mom and me the stay was great we love it. All the restaurants are really great. The bakery serve wonderful breakfast. The restaurant Fred and Ethel 's great lunch or dinner .Nice shopping .Lake side Grill had a Prime rib Special on a Friday great food good service and

This stay at Smithville was just picture perfect! We stayed in a village room #210- an adorable cottage nestled in the path of the shops of the village with a nice porch to enjoy with chairs and a small table to watch the passersby's enjoying shopping. The room was simply antique classic cozy with a faux fireplace and antique Raggedy Ann dolls as decorations- and  immaculate! 
The bathroom is spacious with a double sink, hairdryer and had the most luxurious bath towels I have ever had the luxury to wrap myself with! 
The adorable breakfast basket is made to order with a croissant or delicious muffin- kept warm until you pick it up at the friendly Inn's check in desk, along with a yogurt - flavor of your choice, and juice and coffee or tea. All this is tucked into a picnic basket to tote to your room to enjoy!
No need to leave the grounds with the restaurants and nighttime entertainment at Fred and Ethels bar and grill- which had delicious food also.
The stay here was like a fairy tale come true and I'm sure to be back again!

We had an event for a 60th wedding anniversary with a stay at colonial inn. About a week before the stay we had a death in the family. and they graciously cancelled the booking AND refunded our money. I would recommend this place just because of the customer service. A+

We loved the friendliness of the front desk staff. She made check in easy and quick. The cafe was well stocked and clean. We were impressed with the perks that came with our stay.  We received free cookies and and a beverage at check-in plus the promise of drinks or more cookies throughout our stay. A light breakfast was provided with between fresh muffins or croissants and included juice, tea or coffee and yogurt. You could enjoy this at the cafe or return to your room with a basket and eat in privacy. The rooms are clean and enough towels and toiletries were provided to last several days. The room included a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The had plenty of blankets and the pillowes are substantial, not those flimsy puffs of air you get at some hotels. We took advantage of the close proximity of all the shops Smithville had to offer by walking for hours and then enjoyed dinner at Fred and Ethels later that night. We would love to return to this Inn again!

Cozy dream come true!

If you like historical aesthetics with a modern touch, this is the place for you. I stayed in the historical village surrounded by all kinds of great shops and great places to eat. The room was very clean and all the linens, decor, and furniture was very high quality. We also got complimentary breakfast in the morning. All the staff were very nice and accommodating. I will surely be staying here again in the future.

Smithville Colonial Inn great place to go back in time and relax!

Comfortable, clean, quaint lodging. We stayed in the barn (room311) and had a nice porch surrounded with greenery and quietness. Check in exceeded our expectations. We could not attend the morning continental breakfast so, they provided us with the baked goods and oj the night before! Room was very clean, linens spotless, completely comfortable. Only items of needed improvement would be the need to regrout a few sreasin the bathroom and porch could use a power washing. Neither hindered our stay by any means.

Super Smithville lodging!

3 couples stayed 2 nights at Historic Smithville in New Jersey.  We had rooms 205, 206 and 207.  These rooms were all in the same old bldg.  The furnishings in each room were very nice, the bathrooms were adequate and the rooms were all very clean.  Rms 205 and 207 both have electric fireplaces and both of those rooms were very spacious.  Our stay included a nice continental breakfast each morning.  Everyone was very pleased with our stay.

Nice getaway weekend

Beautiful hotel with very pleasant, helpful staff. Spent two nites there in mid week. Can't complain about the location: our specious 1-bedroom ranch style cottage with cathedral ceiling was a short walk from the main office and in the middle of Smithville. Brkfast basket was a nice touch: warm muffin or croissant, juice, very good coffee or tea, yogurt. Throughout the day, stop by for complimentary coffee and tea and delicious shortbread cookies. The sizable bath included a steam room/shower. Room was very clean, wuth good internet connection.
One nite, treat yourself to a 5-star dinner at the wonderful Smithville Inn Restaurant, within walking distance of your room. Excellent food, great service, in an old colonial bldg overlooking a big pond. (For 2 people, appetizer and entree will be about $85, without drinks.) 
For lunch or brunch, I recommend the Lakeside Grill, with a good variety of dishes and very lovely staff. For a quick bite, try Costello's Pizza. These last two eateries are next to each other, right on the lake's boardwalk. Very affordable.
As for Smithville itself, well, one day is more than plenty to visit the shops. If you're a vinophile, Smithville is in the middle of NJ wine country, with many wineries nearby. In fact, there's one in Smithville (Tomasello). 
In summer there are paddleboats on the lake. All year there's a kiddie train and a merry-go-round.

Great place for a 1- or 2-nite getaway, nearly Atlantic City and Philly

This room is exactly what I was looking for. It was quaint, spotless and I'd definitely go back again. The only things that I was not thrilled with (and they were certainly not deal breakers: )  It was a little confusing knowing where to check in. You had to go to another building in the middle of the shops. I was early, and they did their best, and got me in my room super fast.  I was greeted with a smile, and iced coffee (my choice of beverage).  Also, the bed has noisy springs. The air conditioner cycled from silent to quietish, to loud.  But it worked really well.  Again, didn't bother me, but it might be annoying to others. Breakfast was continental. I chose a croissant (light, crispy and hot). It came with butter and two flavors of jelly, Juice, coffee/tea and a full sized yogurt were included. They also had muffins. You can get it served in a basket, or "to go".  All in all, if I ever visit Smithville overnight, I would certainly stay here.  (Room 312 if you want to look it up).

Just what I needed

Located in the heart of historic Smithville, the hotel staff were very nice and helpful, the room was everything described, the hotel has great little touches that make the stay comfortable, overall a nice getaway.

One suggestion for improvement, the bed wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked - the mattress was too firm, but that could be a positive for many.

Good choice for a getaway

I was  in town to visit friends and family and stayed at the Barn for three nights.  The room was very clean and well appointed.  Staff is very friendly and helpful.  Enjoyed my breakfast as well.  If you want to visit the casinos but be away from the hustle the bustle, you can easily stay here since it is only 15 minutes away.
