Was headed back from seeing my daughter in San Diego. The hotel was nice. The area left a little to be desired, but I wouldn't say it was bad overall. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. I would stay again if I needed a room in Fresno again.

Had some business in town and just needed a no frills place for the evening. It exceeded what I thought I would get for the money. Everything was clean which was my main concern, and the bed did rest well. If I had business in town in the future I'd stay again.

I have booked a non-smoking room at Rodeway Inn, 1240 N Crystal Ave,  Fresno California two weeks in advance and made the full payment with my credit card.  When I got there I was shown three rooms- all very very dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke.  Dirty carpet, very old and dirty linens.  You don't want to stay there even for a sec.  The whole place smelled of cigarette smoke.  Also the area does not feel safe at all.  I did not stay there and I did not get my refund either because I was told I paid the non-refundable rate.  I even did not pay any attention at the time of booking if I am paying a refundable or non-refundable rate because I was sure to go to Fresno and needed a place to stay. My booking was for a non-smoking room which they did not have and therefore I should have got my refund. I would not stay there free.
Also if you stay there, the management takes a copy of your ID.  I suggest that you register with a credit agency for a fraud alert.

Dirtiest hotel I ever seen, unsafe location

I am not one to write negative reviews but I feel a moral obligation to warn society of this place where vacations go to die. This was just a stop on our way to Yosemite and we were just looking for a low budget place to crash which I have done many many times. I don’t have high standards.  Maybe I should raise them a little..

Cons: 
-air conditioner smells like a swamp
-TV broke
-phone doesn’t work
-bathtub varnish is peeling off in chunks and 4 roaches came up from the drain to say hi 
-key card reader broken
-sounded like a motorcycle show was going on outsdide the whole night
-bad area of town 

Pros:
-they have beds 
-close to Taco Bell 
-we didn’t get murdered

The worst. Stay away.

This « hotel » was the worst ever. There were prostitutes, pimps and dealers all over the place, in front of the room and on the parking lot. It didn’t feel safe at all. Then the person at the office desk gave us the key. When we accessed the room, it was very dirty. It hadn’t been cleaned. The bed sheets had hairs on it and dog paw traces. The AC was broken and we could see mold on it. There was mold on the shower curtain as well. Even if the hotel is quite cheap, this is absolutely a shame to make people pay for that kind of service. It was so dirty that we left the place without spending the night. They did offer us another room but considering the first one... no thanks! The person at the office wouldn’t give us a refund, that’s a shame too considering the room they gave us. We had to find another hotel late at night. A nightmare !
