We came for a weekend.  The site needs updates, and the roads are run down. We had full hookup, so we did not need to use the other facilities (bathrooms), but I did see other reviews that said they needed updating as well.

On  the plus side, the staff was very nice, and we had no issue with set up. There are also a few paths for exploring.

Retreat by the lake

We love carolina landing! We come through every year. Depending on our plans we will stay more than once a year. We will be back! A must visit in the area is Cheryl's Potato Kitchen and the spotted pig. 

Traveling right along

Easy check in/out, comfortable stay. Water was turned off 3 times during the week, and we were only notified once, which was an inconvenience (but we also understand unexpected issues during winter) staff was accommodating when a mistake was discovered about initial reservation length and we appreciated their reasonable response. We will stay again and recommend this to any who appreciate quality campgrounds

Comfortable campground

This campground was very nice. It was wooded and very peaceful. The staff was AMAZING. Our site didn’t have sewer hookup but they had a complimentary honey wagon service which was very much appreciated. 

Lovely Campground

Our Thanksgiving week at Thousand Trails in FairPlay, SC, had its highlights, with amenities like mini-golf, a playground, and a clubhouse. However, the campground’s reality didn’t align with its online portrayal. Instead of the transient feel we expected, around 90% of the sites seemed permanently occupied, cluttered with unattended campers, sheds, and unregistered vehicles.

Our assigned site, nestled in uneven woods, lacked upkeep, was barely wider than our RV, and had no room for a picnic table. Meanwhile, other sites boasted large decks, ample parking, fire pits, and level ground.

Proximity to the bathhouse was convenient, but its lack of cleanliness, overrun by insects and spiders, was a disappointment. The staff, although generally friendly, provided minimal information at check-in, mainly a laundry list of rules.

Overall, a 3/10 experience—we wouldn’t consider returning.

Oh, I forgot to mention; If you intend to play putput, beware there are fire ants all of the course, and it is not maintained.


Thanksgiving RV trip

We enjoyed the room, stocked well, and close to the pier. Had fun in the game room and playing mini golf (could use a clean up and a few repairs, but overall very good) Many stores and restaurants nearby. Plan on going again in the spring, hopefully when pool opens.

Nice place with lots to do

Very nice and clean love the campground and staff was very friendly and checked in us thoughout our stay will defintely be back!

Cabin was outdated. Central air or heat didnt work. 3 ac window units none worked. Wall heater in back bedroom didnt work. It was 46° the one night with no heat.

Would not stay there again

Staff is excellent— check in process is smooth and convenient.

The amenities are decent, however the laundry CSC app wouldn’t work any time I tried to use it. Other guests admitted the same. We had to use our card, which is fine. Playground is awesome! 

The common areas are clean and nice.

The “lake access” is not much to get excited over. Boats lined the entire bank.

The worst part of this campground is the site quality. The sites are stacked on a hill, with RVs nearly on top of one another. I can’t sit outside without sitting next to my neighbors sewer drain. Took us forever to get level. 

The roads into the sites are extremely narrow, and with such small sites, people have to park their trucks sticking out into the road.

In order for us to pull out of our site, we will have to ask two of our neighbors if they can move their vehicles, which isn’t cool.

There is no trail to get from your row to the bathrooms, so unless you’re willing to walk through someone’s campsite, you’ll have to walk alll the way around the campground to get to the amenities. 

Overall, not a bad stay. Will we stay here again? No.



Nice Amenities, Friendly Staff, Poor Sites

Great location. Would be nice if there were more full hook up sites (50 amp, sewer, water). Currently the only full hook up sites are a little small and not very level. We enjoy camping here and will come back again.
