I would recommend this hotel for the very specific circumstances that I stayed there under: you have an early morning flight out of MSP and need a cheap hotel close to the airport for the night before.

It is obvious that the rooms were recently renovated. Hardwood floors appeared to be fairly new. The rooms were clean, spartan and small (bathrooms were very, very small). Hallways were narrow and looked like the carpets could use a good cleaning.

The clientele is .... interesting.  Saw a lot of guys hanging around that looked like day labourers. Despite signs that claimed you needed a room key to enter the hallways at night, all of the doors to the hallways remained unlocked at all hours of the night.

For a one night stay at $50/night, it was worth it to make sure that we got to the airport on time the next morning. For anything else? Spend an extra $30/night and find a different hotel.

Not Awful, But Not Great Either

It is almost 3am. Reason I bring this up is:

The bed is old, rock hard and has springs that make a loud noise every time I move.  

There are people in the room above me that sound like they are partying.  

The window unit AC / heater, that I had to climb on a chair to figure out how to use (I am 5'10"), is so loud and I can't control the temp. I set it to 70, it was blowing cold,  set it to 71, it has to be 80 in here and won't turn off. 

This place is beat to hell. The furniture in the room is falling apart.  Doors falling apart. 2 lights out, bare wires going to a lamp, mold in the bathroom,  dirt and debris everywhere in the room. The smell of marijuana in the halls. Very questionable individuals running around the halls and just hanging out the whole night, even with their security guard standing right there playing on his phone.  

I booked this room to save me some time getting to and from a job. I figured I could get a few more minutes of sleep before having to get up at 5am by staying close by. Big mistake and waste of money! At this point I don't think I will get any sleep! 

Pull the flag off this motel 6! 

I would like to first say that I have a low expectations when booking motels.  I do not go into any motels thinking that it is a 5 star hotel.  While most of my encounters with Motel 6 vary from mediocre to great, this Motel 6 was quite disappointing and rendered me writing a review about it.  

The location of the motel was convenient for someone who wanted to visit Mall of America and was on a road trip across the midwest.  It was situated within minutes of the Mall and the interstates.  

At first impression, there were people hanging out outside of the motel that were very interesting. The check in agent did not seem approachable.  There are smoking and non smoking rooms (even if Booking.com say that it is non-smoking).  The agent was helpful in regards to my mistake (according to him) of booking a smoking room. I was given a non-smoking room on the first floor.  Interestingly enough, I had to show the second person's ID as I booked as a double room.  It was my first time to be asked for other guest ID's.  I chalked it up to big city problems, my boyfriend chalked it up as they get a lot of unregistered overnight guests.

On the way to our room, we noticed that the hallway has not been vacuumed in a while.  There were a lot of debris on the carpet and the hallway smelled of smoke.  When we arrived at our door, the door was ajar.  My boyfriend went to front desk to inform them and possibly get an explanation but the agent just said "Okay."  He did not care at all.  When he got back to the room, I suggested we ask for another room but deterred from it as some of the reviews said that they ended up getting worst rooms.  

Entering our room, the floor was sticky like it was cleaned with glue.  We were afraid to even take off our shoes as we felt that the floor was unsanitary.  The front panel of the bathroom door was coming out, the toilet had stains and the bath tub had some off black marking around it.  It was really run down motel room.  For a reservation that said two people and had double beds, there was only one bath towel.  We used it as a mat on the floor so that we could take off our shoes for bed.  Needlesstosay, we did not use the bathroom unless necessary and opted out to take a shower in the motel and left as early as we can the following day.  We checked in around 6:30, left to not to relax and only came back to sleep.  I should have just booked an AirBnB.

Check out was okay.  The agent was vacuuming and someone else was at the counter (may have been maintenance).  He answered the phone and called the counter agent to talk to the person on the phone.  The agent stopped vacuuming and took the phone from the guy on the counter.  Apparently, a candidate asked when her interview was and the agent asked to call back later when the hiring manager came in. Once she finished with the phone call, she almost went back to vacuuming until she saw me and asked me if I was checking out.  It was odd as I had to walk beside her as the door was where she was vacuuming.  She went into the office to access the computer.  She was friendlier than the check in agent.

Overall, for the price (~$90), this motel I felt was not worth it.  I've stayed at hostels cleaner than this felt.

Very Disappointed Stay

Like many, we were looking for an inexpensive room to get close to the airport.  We read the negative reviews and decided to go for it.

The faux wood floors were incredibly dirty. We found a "dingleberry" (google it) on the bathroom floor as well as no shortage of sand.  That's when we decided to wipe a wet washcloth on the bathroom floor (4 feet by 3 feet).  The white wash cloth was disgustingly (see picture). It was dark brown on color. That could only mean that floor hasn't been washed for more than a month. If I didn't wash my personal bathroom floor for 6 YEARS, it would be much cleaner.  

The same thing happened in a 3'x3' patch of flooring in the main room; it was black in color.  Under the bed was full of dust and sand. The worn out black hallway carpet wasn't vacuumed for a long time as well showing all kinds of dirt.

My wife began to wonder...  Were the sheets changed if they looked clean enough from the last guest or two?  She decided to sleep in her clothes. In hindsight, a much better spot to stay overnight was in your car.  

You have been officially warned.  If you assume this couldn't possibly be true, make sure you use the white towel test on the floor.  You will see what I mean.

The outside looks ok but the room was not clean. The sink didn't drain. I would not use the shower. The floor was sticky. I took a towel and wiped a bit and it was disgusting. We had already paid and were only there a few hours. The beds are not comfortable
