Secret Garden

What a delightful place in a delightful city.  If you want to chill out in a country style home, then look no further.  Every comfort is available in a gorgeous surrounding.  I can't wait to stay here again !

We had family here to check out the U of O campus (they have a high school junior interested in attending). The Secret Garden is right on campus and allowed them to stroll the campus area at night (to get a better feel for things when the sun goes down...good to figure out where the campus lighting is the best to map out safe routes back to the dorm!)

The Inn is clean, comfortable and has a great staff.

Our stay was only one night as a stopover on a long roadtrip.  The accommodations were very nice, clean and comfortable.  Airconditioning was welcome. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at a French restaurant, Marche.

I wish I could keep this a secret

good location near University of Oregon

The location adjacent to the University drives a significant portion of the traffic but it's like they don't have to try because of that. The rooms are nice, the Apiary was certainly large enough and well appointed. Reception was cool, bordering on professional but more of the "why are you bothering me, I'm busy" approach or "I should have a better career than this". Maybe just having a bad day but it we only stayed one night. Advice on where to eat in walking distance was good. 

WIFI did not reach the Apiary, all I could get was a neighboring frat and it was secured. Another guest said it was spotty in his closer to the center room and I ended up in the nice sitting area on 2nd floor. There's a Keurig there but no water so you have to go to your room to retrieve water in glasses for the device. Big espresso machine at the front desk but never saw it in use. Breakfast was "this is what we have, is that OK?". I'm guessing you could object and order a la carte but wasn't that brave. Breakfast was OK, again just kind of missed. 

The garden in front is a bit overgrown but may be a conscious, separate the inn from the campus approach. Parking was adequate but might be a problem on busy weekends given spaces versus number of rooms. Rang the bell several times to checkout but the kitchen is noisy and no one heard me. Some bike dude came out and went back in and got the receptionist for me. 

Secret Garden has the potential to be lovely and maybe some guests experience that.

The Secret Garden is no longer in business.  After some remodeling the building is now housing 30 Evans Scholars who attend the University of Oregon. It is called The Evans House. This is as of June 2016.  Evans scholars earned their scholarships through good grades and caddying.
