The staff was very nice and helpful, the check-in/out notes were important.

This place is well maintained, clean and tidy, plus the staff makes sure that you have everything you need (towels, soaps, coffees) and will clean your room on daily basis. It's very convenience to everywhere (downtown, stores, restaurants). People are nice and helpful that's why I always feel safe everywhere in here.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient.

The triple room does indeed have three queen beds. One is in a separate 'room' with a closable door. I put room in quotes because you can hardly walk around the bed without awkwardly turning your feet to fit. There is not really dishware as indicated on the hotels.com site and the coffee maker didn't work but there is a working mini fridge. We couldn't find anyone to check out with so we had to use the key Dropbox. The location is convenient. The beds are comfy enough. The shower has great pressure and the hot water gets really hot (and stays that way through the whole family's showers) and the cold water is refreshingly cold even in the heat of summer.

Very clean inside.  Good value for a low price. Disappointing outside. Area is quite a poor rural town.

When looking from the outside, the place looks like a dive.  We were pleasantly surprised, clean rooms, comfortable beds and nice staff, no frills is right.

We stopped on our way back to Canada for some rest. Great price. Awesome soft beds and a nice big bathroom. Very cozy and nice.

Safe and convenience

I stayed here twice , on the way to Great Basin National Park and on the way back. The owners seem to be remodeling the motel, maybe one room at a time.  On my first stay I got a room that was not fully remodeled - and the room had many defects. I'd give that stay a overall 2-star rating. On my second stay I got a fully remodeled room - and, I'd give it a 4-star rating. Considering the low price (compared to nearby hotels like La Quinta) I give this hotel a 4-star rating.

Decent hotel and economy priced

My husband and I were driving to Montana after exploring Arizona and literally cruised into Ely on fumes. We were tired and looking forward to sleeping comfortably after having been camping and hiking.  I did not want to relive the most awful experience at a Howard Johnson Hotel in Tuscon over a week earlier, so I was a bit uncomfortable that the Great Basin Inn was located on what appeared to be a rather shady area and the office itself was located across the parking lot and connected to a liquor store. That is the only negative. I wasn't so sure the room would be ok but was too tired to ask to look and didn't want to drive around searching for another one. I was very pleasantly surprised with the room. It was clean and the owners put some effort into adding a little charm to what could have been just a regular boring room. The bed was very comfortable, the bedding was colorful and not standard hotel looking. the room was spacious, we don't care about television but there was one. There was a cute little end table with coffee pot and microwave unlike any of the other places we stayed. There was also a little fridge in a charming armoire. Of course it's nothing fancy but we aren't into fancy as much as comfortable and charming-which it was. Also had free wifi. If our travels take us back we will definitely stay again.
