Loveland Heights Cottages

Although the wife and I had to leave a day early we really enjoyed our stay here. Loved the rustic historic cabin feel. We'll be going back for sure. If you're looking for the Hyatt this isn't it. It's relaxing and beautiful though and so worth the stay.

We come to Loveland Heights nearly every year when we visit Estes Park! We love it here! We stay in cabin # 2 or the old log cabin #18. Many cabins  have wooden decks that overhang the Big Thompson River. It’s so peaceful and accommodating and close to restaurants, shopping and entrances to Rocky Mountain National Park.  We also love the little kitchen as we like to prepare our meals before and after our excursions in the park. This is a family owned property and they always take very good care of us during our stay. Can’t wait till next year! ♥️

This is the best place to stay in the Estes Park area.  Cozy, clean cottages with the best views and location on the Big Thompson River.  Amazing private decks with picnic tables and chairs directly on the river! This family run business takes good care of the property and the clients. I can’t wait to stay here again

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the the Loveland Heights Cottages. The cabin was very clean, and had all of the amenities we needed. We were looking for a place to call home for a couple of days while visiting Rocky Mtn National Park. This place was simple, yet perfect for us. The calming river flowing behind our cabin was awesome. Bev and her family take pride in their cottages, and it shows. Thank you Bev and family for a great stay!

I love this place. We started coming here in 1988 and have visited most years since then.The cabins are comfortable and clean.The river flowing by the deck is amazing and the mountain view is special.The owners are very accommodating and friendly.I have my reservation made for 2025.

This is an awesome place to stay, The views from the decks are great, saw lots of wildlife on this trip elk, baby mouse, blue heron, great access to Estes Park and Rocky mountain national Park, the proprietor and staff are friendly, helpful and respectful. This is our second stay here. The prices are reasonable, the cabin's are older but well kept and clean, we rented cabins 16 and 7 and 8 . So if you want to enjoy nature and decompress this is a great place, and we will be back.  If you're idea of a mountain vacation is fast Internet and cable TV this place may not be for you. Our stay was awesome in fact my daughter I son in law and 3 grand kids extended their stay from 3 nights to 6 ,   we all had an amazing time if you can keep the kids from gaming , the Internet is good enough to share pictures etc with the family. Never turned on the TV., highly recommend this place and we will be back.

We spent 6 nights in cottage #1 and it was exactly what we wanted our vacation to be. The huge deck overlooking the river was my retreat for the week--I loved having morning coffee there and a glass of wine in the evening. Watching the hummingbirds catch bugs and just the sound of the water flowing over the rocks was so soothing. We were visited by a pair of bull elks one night as they nibbled on vegetation by the river. It was our peak wildlife experience of the trip. Coming from a brutally hot Texas, the cool temps were like heaven--the tall pines a refuge. I actually loved that we didn't need AC while there (I'm very sensitive to heat and had been worried I wouldn’t be able to sleep, but we really didn’t need it, even during the warm part of the day). 

The cabin was not fancy for sure, but comfortable and spacious, quiet and private. We cooked most breakfasts there and a few dinners, but Estes Park is so close, it was easy to grab food in town too. We went to both the Safeway in Estes and to a smaller market near the entrance of the park a few times. Our teen daughter had one room and my husband and I the other, so it was nice to have some space. Without much wi-fi access, we ended playing epic games of gin rummy late into the night, and just reading books. We never turned on the TV the whole time, which I loved.  

I had booked our stay months ago on the phone and was surprised to see that the place wasn't full, and that the cabin next to us either was empty or occupied by a series of one-night stays of people passing through. It's a reasonably priced place and a great base for RMNP--we went 3 separate times with timed entries and spent a good 10 hours in the park. We used both the Fall River and the Beaver Meadow entrance--both equally easy. The owners were nice and friendly, but it's not really a hands-on kind of place. They don't clean the cottages while you're there, but you can turn in your used towels and get fresh ones at the office—and charcoal and lighter fluid too. But everyone was helpful and there was a nice gentleman who showed my daughter and me the older rustic cabin, since it was empty (I’d love to stay there too). When I was having trouble canceling a hotel in Denver he offered to let us use their landline. The whole location and setup for our cabin worked for us, we were very happy and relaxed there, and would definitely go back. Back home in the triple digits of Austin, I'm missing cool Estes Park and the peace and quiet of Loveland Heights.


There is no better fishing and view in Estes.  The cabins are indeed rustic, but a chance to get away from it all is exactly what we wanted.  The kitchen has all you need to cook meals.
The deck is right on the water.  The owners are helpful and kind.  We have been coming to these cabins for 25 years.  

We stayed here 9 years ago and loved it! So we booked here again! I just love how the cabins are right on the Thompson River. We can sit out on the deck and watch the River flow by. The owners were very accommodating and always so nice when I’d call for more information before our trip. Very clean and cozy!

The cabins are in a beautiful setting. Just a couple miles from Estes Park. Very cozy and peaceful. Kitchen had stove/oven, full size fridge, microwave. The deck is huge and is right on the Big Thompson River. Has a bbq grill. Loved room number 1. Very nice owners. Will definitely be back.

This place is well-loved. The owners are very nice and lovely. The room I stayed in, Suite 5, was very clean and nice. The room felt dated, with the decor and the TV, but overall it was comfortable. The deck was alright, and the paint was peeling heavily on the deck floor, making it uncomfortable to walk on without shoes. The walls of the deck were also pealing with paint. I've stayed in many places in my travels, and when I first saw that, it didn't bode well in my mind. However, everything else seemed fine. Recommendation to the owners, have someone refinish that deck.

Here on TripAdvisor, it says that they include high-speed WiFi, and that wasn't my experience. As I was using the WiFi, I noticed how slow it was at loading webpages, so I got it to run the internet speed test and found out I only had 2.5 MBPS download, and it errored out before the upload could complete. My second recommendation to the owners is to update/upgrade that WiFi.

The final recommendation would be for the windows. The window facing the river had a screen on it, so I could open it at night to cool down the room, and bugs couldn't get in due to the screen. However, the three windows at the front of the room didn't have screens in them, so I didn't want to open them, especially at night when bugs were out, so it made cooling down my room a bit tricky.

This place is only a 10-minute drive away from Estes Park, so it was super easy to get over to Rocky Mountain National Park and other things in Estes Park. Overall it was an enjoyable stay, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay somewhere off the beaten path a bit.

We live in Boulder and my family was looking for a place to escape from our house for a few days because of being cooped up for three months. I knew that I wanted to find a place that was close to the river since we all love the sound of rivers. We were not disappointed by this place. It is definitely "retro", but it was cute and clean and had everything we needed. And the deck is absolutely lovely. We opted to pay a little more to have a cabin right over the river and it was worth it. We spent hours on the deck reading, playing games, napping and relaxing. The beds were also quite comfortable, which is a plus. It did not disappoint.
