For more than 20 years my family has benefited from the "cocoon of care' provided here.  Ease of booking accommodations, underground safe parking, doctors" offices 4 floors below, 3 food venues (all great), wonderful library offering computers, and the usual intellectually stimulating materials, beautiful chapel providing quiet for prayer time, long, well designed, and attractive walking pathways help regain strength always filled with staff whose only desire is to help patients get well ......coupled with the finest medical care in the country.  All at very reasonable cost.  What a blessing.  May it always be part of Baylor Hospital.  

My original review has not changed in terms of the hotel, but I ended up hating Freshiis, the healthy place to eat. I strongly recommend that if you are going to be there you might want to bring some groceries. You should have a refrigerator in your room. I am having kidney stone surgery and this time I'll stock the refrigerator with things I like to eat. I'm all for healthy, but Freshiis missed the boat and was never consistent in their food. And I won't pay $$ for bottled water when I can bring what I like from home.

I am in Dallas TX with my sister who has surgery at Baylor University Hospital one day ago.  Baylor Plaza Hotel is located within the hospital.  It is most convenient, the room is extremely clean.  Furnishings are simple, the room is not large, but it's all you  need when the majority of your time is spent with patient in the hospital and you basically need a place to sleep, shower and dress.  The front desk staff is most accommodating and friendly.  Checkout is 11:00 AM, but they will extend it until 1:00 with no additional charge.  Rate is $85 plus tax, which brings it to $99 per night, which is less than the average rate for other hotels in the area. Definitely no frills...not even a hair dryer in the room.  Laundry room available though...where you will find an iron.  Even so,  I would definitely stay here again.

Within the hospital there are two options for eating.  Truett Cafe' and another little sandwich shop located in the Robertson Building lobby, next to the gift shop.  Truett Cafe' has an excellent omelet/breakfast burrito bar.  More than you can eat, fresh ingredients, made while you watch, for $5.99.  Freshly prepared sushi is available too, They also have a grill, where you get a burger and fries, and a hot bar with meat/vegetable choices. 

The sandwich shop has an excellent Salad station where you can have a salad custom made from a wide variety of vegetable choices and protein selections.  $5.99 gets you a large salad...enough for two people.  Sandwiches there are very tasty too.  They too have a grill, where you can place an order for a burger made with your choice of toppings.

No sugar, or anything with sugar, available on the grounds.  Everything is diet, unsweetened or sweeteners available.

My husband and I had an emergency trip to Dallas for our son's unexpected illness. We were so happy and relieved to find this hotel in a seperate but connected wing of Baylor Hospital. 

Our room was very clean, simple, and very affordable compared to other hotels nearby. We were able to visited our son's room at any time and still be in close walking distance to our own room...without ever leaving the hospital or getting lost in Dallas!!  The staff were all very nice too. 

With all the emotions running high, it was really nice to find such a wonderful hotel as this.

IT'S ALL YOU NEED AND RESONABLY PRICED

Wonderful Surprise Hotel!

We were at Baylor for some medical visits, and read promising reviews, and thought we'd give it a try. 

The good news is, the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Ingrid was especially helpful. Also, the room was clean, and there are rooms with windows if you ask. There is also a small refrigerator. The bad news was the size of the room. Somewhere between dorm room and holding cell. There is no closet, just a hanging rack and a shelf. There was a desk, chair, small dresser, and a recliner. After rearranging the furniture, I had it some what livable where you could sit and open drawers. The bathroom is tiny and run down. Think of an interstate motel for 29$ a night, and you'll have an accurate idea, only this one is much smaller. The back breaker, literally, was the bed. My wife and I are not large people, and we can sleep in a full size bed comfortably, but this mattress was as old as I am. It was rough. It was the cheapest set available when it was new many years ago. It belongs in a landfill. The springs were loud, and shot, and it smelled like a musty old mattress should smell. The linens were of similar age and condition. There were two pillows that belong in the overhead storage on a ValuJet flight.  I asked if all the beds were the same age, and was told yes. We checked out three days early, and moved to a hotel downtown. When asked about our stay, I told Ingrid about the bed, and she said that they would look into replacing them. I hope she does. 

The Baylor Plaza is a great concept. There are no other options in that part of Dallas, and if you have a loved one in the hospital, it's a great choice for convenience, but beware. It will do in an emergency, it beats sleeping in the car.
