Sands Motel and RV Park

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Sands Motel in Carrizozo while on vacation in southeastern New Mexico in August 2018. Carrizozo is a really neat little desert town with the Valley of Fires, the Lincoln National Forest, White Oaks ghost town and other beautiful New Mexico scenery nearby. The Sands is a cute little 1950s era mom and pop motel and harkens back to the days of the classic motor court before the ubiquitous chain motel took over the industry. Excellent accommodations will be found here, especially for the budget minded traveler. Our stay here came out to $53 per night, including taxes - and it was well worth it. The property was attractive and well kept. The pleasant lady at the front desk was very helpful and attentive. I liked the pink trim on the outside of the building as well as the classic 1950s style Sands Motel sign out front. Our room was clean, the air conditioner worked well as did the bathroom/shower. Good water pressure and the hot and cold were in working order. Nice comfortable bed to boot. There was also a little picnic table out front which offered a nice place to sit after dark and view the spectacular New Mexico night sky while sipping a cold beverage. The entire property was quiet and relaxing - a nice place to rest our heads and offer a break from tent camping on our trip. For the traveler with an RV, there are also hookups next to the motel if you would rather utilize them than get a motel room. In summary, the Sands Motel will most surely be on our itinerary the next time that we stay in Carrizozo.
