Carlsbad Seapointe Resort

This was our first trip to the west coast and after a relatively long flight from New York we were pleased with the resort, room, and staff. We flew into San Diego (SAN) airport. The resort is about 45 minutes north of the airport, depending on traffic. We were welcomed upon our early arrival. Our room was not ready, so they took our phone number to let us know when we could return. They also gave us a key to all the common areas so we could roam the resort and park our car. The text telling us the room was ready came an hour or so later and well before the advertised check-in time. Our room was on the second floor with a balcony looking toward the ocean. The room was spacious and more room than needed for two people. The bathroom included a large soaking tub and a glass door shower. The kitchen included a full-size refrigerator, dish washer, and a gas range/oven. There was a dining room table for four people and a breakfast bar for two people. The living room area included a gas fireplace which we did not use. Our only complaint is the one-bedroom condos do not have washer/dryers. You need to pay to do your laundry in a common laundromat on the same floor as your condo. We did not realize this when we booked so we packed limited which required we do laundry one night. This did not negatively affect our trip. The sunset can be viewed from the balcony of most if not all of the condo balconies. We have some great pictures to prove this. We used the adult hot tub and pool a few times. It was nice. Some people did bring their kids to the adult pool, but everyone was well behaved. The beach and ocean are across the divided road in front of the resort so there is a little bit of a walk to the beach. The beach is very rocky and attracts many surfers. The ocean water was cold in mid-March. San Diego is 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away depending on traffic. We highly recommend visiting the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari. Both took a full day each to see everything but well worth it. There are some great restaurants and shops in Carlsbad, which is about 3 miles north of the resort. There is no reason we would not return to this resort!
