In the back. Nice quiet room. very comfortable bed. Even had a kitchen if we wanted to cook. Loved it. Would do again. Perfect spot to HQ in for various brewery visits. Check-in and Check out was easy and the clerk was very helpful about local events.

Loved it. Close to everything important. Quiet and comfortable.

$80 a night.

I have to keep repeating that Mantra.... $80 a night.

I guess you get what you pay for, but I think even for $80 a night, we should have gotten just a bit more - like, clean sheets.  

Let's start at the beginning.  We met friends of ours this past weekend to see a concert in Canandaigua, NY.  Because it was last minute, we booked at this hotel. If nothing else, the Cedar Lodge is right next door to the CMAC Performing Arts Center, so there's that.  I booked 4 rooms back in June - which is last minute for the Finger Lakes.  A recent change meant we only needed 3 rooms, but when I called back to tell them that, they could only find 2 rooms in my name.  After arguing with them, they found a 3rd room to give me.  But then the day before we arrived, the manager informed me that they found the original 4-room reservation.  Part of the issue was that they don't/can't email confirmations to anyone.  Also troubling was that they initially were going to charge me 2 different prices for the 3 rooms, even though the rooms are identical.  I'm not blaming the manager, she helped me work through all of this mess.  But nowadays that kind of stuff shouldn't be happening.  As we were arriving after 7 PM, the manager also had to leave our keys (real keys) in an envelope under the mat at the office - which, by the way, is at their other property, the Finger Lakes Lodge - because the staff goes home by then.  I don't know about you folks, but that didn't give me any warm fuzzy feeling of security.

The rooms themselves were reasonably clean, and they do include a refrigerator, stove, and 2 double beds.  And as I mentioned earlier, the linens seemed to have been laundered (although I got a faint scent of sweat from my towels, but that could be their choice of detergent), but the sheets on the bed, while clean, had many stains.  It just doesn't make you feel like relaxing when you have to sleep on stained sheets, even if they're "clean."  The carpeting seemed humid and I'm not sure it was vacuumed.  Some of the room amenities didn't make sense.  There was a desk in the room, but it was right in front of a full length mirror, making the mirror unusable.  No hangers in the closet, no electrical outlets by the desk, non-working wifi (we all got the message "Maximum Users for this Voucher Exceeded" when we tried getting on the free wifi with the code the manager gave us.  Lots of little things like that.

Luckily, we spent the weekend touring the area, so we didn't have to spend that much time in the room itself.  But I believe that this property is a cash cow and that the owners aren't spending a dime more than they absolutely have to to keep it afloat. 
Bottom line, it's only $80 a night, but for that, I still expected a tad more.  

If you're in the area, it can't be difficult to find something better.

Find Something Better

When we arrived we faced a challenge finding the office, which is another motel nearby called the Finger Lakes Lodge.  There is no sign at the cedar Lodge to tell you this, so it took some hunting to find the office.  Otherwise, this place met our basic criteria.  There was a clean, comfortable bed and clean bathroom.  The kitchen was more than we expected with a full stove and oven, sink and large fridge, but no utensils.  The AC worked very well.  Having said this, they offered little else.  When we arrived, there was no TP nor any hangers in the "closet."  There were no bedspreads, not all lightbulbs worked and one lampshade, in particular, was very dirty.  They also did not have an ice machine.  We learned that during the academic year, this is used for student housing and the owners didn't want to spend any money on the property.  At night the property and the stairwells are poorly lit.  We would not stay here again.

You get what you pay for

Wanted to stay here for walking distance to concert. Looked At rooms first. They both had dehumidifier running one smelled of mold it was at best a 1-2 star. Other smelled of mold and cat urine! I would rather camp in my clean tent! We canceled our reservations. W iwe travel often this is the first hotel I've ever walked out on! 

I have sent this property a list of 12 issues I had with this place. I wanted to cancel immediately upon arrival when they didnt have an office or someone there to let me into my room. Suffice it to say, don't stay here, it's not worth even $49/ night.
I'd give it 0 stars if possible.
