Friendly staff. The rooms are functional and clean, just what I was looking for.  I will stay here again.

Walking into the hotel it was beautiful and such a girly spot, we were greeted with an amazing morning staff. Checked in early !! The room was small but perfect for 2, clean and the air conditioning was AMAZING. 10/10 would go again!

They accommodated my early schedule, as I had to check out at 4:30 am, and were able to hold my luggage until I got back at 12:00 pm.

Basin faucet needs updated. Except from that everything is fine. A male receptionist was so helpful that he brought hot water bottle to my room. Thank you.

We had a sweet and it was beautiful. We love the view from the top deck. You can see the ocean and the boats coming in.

Polite staff, proximity to downtown area.

Wonderfully peaceful and the staff are gracious.

I loved the location of this hotel.  There’s a grocery store just down the road (3 min walk), restaurants, shopping and beach within 5 minutes.  Our room was so nice and was shared with the room next door but we lucked out not having anyone there.  Gabby was the front desk clerk and was amazing.  She gave me great recommendations and helped me book an extra night stay.  Housekeeping was very helpful and did a nice job of cleaning the room.I also loved the jetted bath tub.A few things I’d like the hotel to upgrade are:  a small fridge and coffee maker in the room and fix the bathroom sink nozzle so it doesn’t spray everywhere.  The shower curtain should also be replaced as well as it does not keep the water in the shower area.  There’s even a note posted on the wall about not flooding the floors and to use the extra towels provided.  lol I highly recommend!

This Victorian boutique style hotel is simple but very charming.  It’s about a 5 minute ride from the Catalina Express Avalon dock and if you book a ride on Ride Circuit, it’s $2 per person.  The property is old but the rooms are nicely done.  I loved the shared balcony (especially since the room next to us was empty so we had the balcony to ourselves).  The view of the town and ocean is amazing.  The jetted tub was very nice and I made sure to pick up some bath salts in town and took a relaxing bath before going to bed.The front desk employee (Gabby) was so nice and helpful.We loved it so much we booked another night. 😍The one thing that would have made it even better is if the windows had screens on them and if the windows could open more than a few inches.

The room was a good size but the building was older. The bathroom could use an upgrade. For the price we paid per night it would be nice to have a coffee maker and fridge in the room. Definitely over priced with no amenities other than coffee in the lobby (unfortunately we booked at the last minute).

The gas golf carts drive by throughout the day and late into the evening. We had a room on the distant ocean view side which was nice and basic. No fridge, just a bed and nice bath with large shower. We didn’t spend much time there as we were down on the boardwalk. Great view from 6th floor patio deck ! Clean, basic..

Hotel is super cute but a little outdated, mainly the bathrooms and lamp shades in the hotel room (a small detail I know but still affects the vibe. It's such a simple fix why not update the late 80's lampshades? Lol).  Hotel is old which is part of the charm, but walls were paper thin, I could hear the woman in the room next to us coughing all night.  Felt like she was in our room.  Lastly, they don't let you store your bags after checkout.  I've stayed in dozens of Catalina hotels and this is the only place that does this.  All of these things aside, the room was clean, cute and had absolutely amazing views if you have a room with a balcony, which makes up for the cons. Location is good, but slightly up hill, so definitely a bit of a hike to get to with all your bags if you're walking,  but still in town (about a 3 min walk from the boardwalk).Would stay again for the views.

“Not a chance” is what I said to our friends, “No way we’ll get a room anywhere on the island last minute!”  I call the last phone number I had and the nicest woman said, “Sure, and just so you know you got the last room on the island.  We just had a cancellation, so it’s yours!”  Four hours later we were wandering the streets of the island, then checked into our rooms.  We loved it!  Friendly staff and very pleasant.  They warned us if we were in town and heard the loud siren we should seek shelter.  My eyebrows shot up until they explained and we all laughed…. “The wild Buffalo like to come over from the other side of the island, through the streets and meander down to the shore, not often but it does happen.”  Sure enough three days later here they came.  Really something to see.  Our room was clean and always refreshed daily.  Really nice room!  We didn’t go to spend our time watching t.v. We went to enjoy the island with friends and we appreciated Hotel St. Lauren.  
We’ve spent a lot of time on Catalina since childhood and it just keeps getting better.  Best snorkeling you’ll find.  

Oh Yes we Have a Room!

We loved our stay at Hotel St. Lauren! We booked the hotel about 2 weeks out and Hotel St. Lauren was the only option available that was reasonably priced, given that it was Labor Day Weekend in Avalon. We arrived early afternoon, and the staff was very accommodating. All staff members were very friendly through our stay. The hotel has an old time charm in design and lobby furnishings. The hotel spaces are smaller with no extra amenities, but the room was updated with a great tile bathroom, a comfortable bed, great A/C and a good amount of room. We are very particular about cleanliness, and we found the room and hotel to be maintained perfectly. We especially enjoyed the 6th floor patio that overlooked the city. Also, the location is so convenient to the grocery store just 1 block away and great restaurants close too. Hopefully, the Covid questionnaire that we had to fill out will go away soon. We failed to see the benefit of that. Otherwise, a perfect stay!

Old Time Charm, Modern Comfort

Our visit was not in June of '22. (Cannot change date) it was actually May of 2017. Part of a 37 day trip to the midwest and west. 

Lovely place. Easy access to everything. We were fortunate to see the beautiful glass art at the museum down the street. We could see beautiful pieces lit up at night while sitting on the roof patio. Truly recommend the St. Lauren... E&G

So, I was actually terrified to book and stay here due to all the reviews - but I’m so glad I went forward with it. 

First, it was considerably cheaper than the other options on Travelocity. 

Second, every time I interacted with the staff they’ve been pleasant and helpful. 

Third, sure the room is ‘kind of’ basic/simple … but it is VERY nice in comparison to the reviews. The place is clean, has clearly been updated, bathroom totally renovated, etc. 

Fourth, ppl were complaining about the outlets … but, at least in my room, there is one directly by the bed. 

I’ve got zero complaints at all. So…. Maybe I’m getting the VIP or maybe different management. Regardless, I’d be happy to stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.  Great location just a few blocks off the main street.  Room was clean and spacious.  Only thing I would say was a glitch in our stay is we found out on arrival  there was an email sent out by hotel we never received which I'm sure had helpful information for the current situation of Covid 19.  This information would have been helpful to know ahead of time as we didn't know there was not luggage storage and had to lug it to the dock to be stored.  Other than tha, we still enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
