Blackhawk Village Inn & Lodge

Needed a place to stay as I was participating in an event at Gov, Edgar Panther Creek State Park. Convenient to the location.Nearby restaurants and shopping, Area had everything I needed.     The Hotel is clean and well maintained. WiFi and Pet friendly.
Reasonable and knowledgeable staff in finding location to park.Great place for the Sportsmen and Sportswomen.

If you are looking for a place to sleep, nice people, affordable prices this is the place to stay. While there isn’t a pool or gym it is in a nice setting and plenty of grass to hang out and throw a baseball. We stayed in the “ drive up to your door” motel style rooms, but I think they have regular hotel rooms in one of the main buildings. Their continental breakfast included cereal, hard boiled eggs, donuts and waffles. The WiFi wasn’t bad either and we weren’t right next to the office. Beds were comfortable, rooms were small, but clean and  all of the staff was friendly and accommodating.Just to the east there is an apartment complex and an abandoned factory next to that but we stayed on the west side of the hotel with a view of a small horse farm. Next time we are in Jacksonville for baseball we will be staying again.

Old motel style place, small, quant, clean comfortable rooms.  Good enough for a place to sleep for a night or two.  Rates are reasonable for what you get.  No pool is located on the edge of town so not anything within walking distance.  Breakfast is not much and seems to be preserved from previous days.  Bread slices were in individual ziplock baggies.  The waffle iron was very gross looking...caked on black and well overused.  They need to invest in a new waffle iron.

Clean, comfortable and affordable

Decent stay for a older “motel”.

Took my kids to see a school friend's opening game at Illinois College. We stayed at the Knights Inn on E. Morton. We picked this hotel because it was the cheapest in the area and we didn't want to pay out a lot for just one night.  I'd requested extra wash cloths & pillows during the reservation. 

When we got there we could see the sign a ways back but when we came up on it I drove past it even though I was looking right at it. Why?  It has no curb appeal at all. So I turn in the very last exit and make my way to the front office. 

When I opened the door I immediately got the feeling I was walking into my great grandparent's house. It had that old antique and faint mothball smell. The lobby was tidy and spacious and had a eating area off to the side in a separate room. But what caught my attention is the notice taped on the desk telling customers they must live at least 40 miles away to stay there. Hmmm, ok, that put thoughts in my head. 

The front desk clerk was very nice and had me checked in within minutes. We had a room with two queens and a sofa sleeper. 

The first thing we did was inspect the room. It was a nice size but cleanliness was a factor. The toilet wasn't clean, the shower head and handles were covered in scum and with the dim lighting I was scared to see what the tub held. 

Next we pulled the bed covers back. I didn't have to look long to see there was hair on the sheets from where it looked like the bed was just remade with the same linens from the previous guest. Took me back to the notice I'd just read at the front desk. And none of the extras I'd requested were in the room. 

I went to the front desk to inform them of my inspection finds and she said first, she would have housekeeping change the sheets but then decided to put us in another room. The new room was slightly larger and cleaner, as the smell of bleach was still present. The bathroom was clean and so were the linens. 

This hotel is on the quieter end of Morten away from all the food and shops. It would be nice to see a little out front to make it look more inviting. I know it's a budget hotel but I would imagine those who don't have a lot to spend would like to feel they're staying some place nice as well. 

Overall, the staff was very nice, but the place could stand a thorough cleaning and a little sprucing up. But it'll suffice is you only have a few dollars and need to lay it down for the night. 

Budget but no appeal

We traveled as a very large group and it was a relief that they could accommodate us...we had two rooms that were right next to one another. Which seemed to be perfect! 
When traveling you want to have the comfort of your own home in a sense, outside the heat was almost unbearable so going to our room we thought it would be better but with a barely working AC and heated floors in the bathroom that wasn’t true. The second day we asked about turning off the heated floors and for them to check the AC in the room and drop off a fan to help move air and they said they would have maintenance check it out-when we were leaving we saw maintenance and tried talking to them...but the guy wanted nothing to do with us! When we arrived back that night nothing was different and no fan was delivered! The very next morning we went and spoke to them and they grabbed us a fan. This helped but not much! 
The second room had parents with kids and they were getting bit up but not by mosquitoes but by bedbugs...yes you read that right! This isn’t something we thought would be any kind of issue and was the furthest thing from our mind but everyday more and more bites, we still never thought about it but one of the children said they killed a bug that was crawling around on the bed-black brownish colored! Everyone in that room got bit up have tons of bites all over in patterns! 
Third complaint-they do not clean the rooms very well at all! Cobwebs were throughout, the rug in front of the rooms had filth and leaves all over it we were dragging them into our rooms and decided to ask for a broom to clean the rug! We left a bunch and housekeeping would come in but not do anything but take out trash! 
This wouldn’t even be half a circle for the review but it’s not an option! Don’t stay here!!!!

It wasn’t what we expected

Sheets were wet and they were extremely rude. I will never book a room to this hotel ever again. I recommend anyone that considering booking a hotel in Jacksonville to try their best to not book a room here.

Terrible service

Was booked thru a third party team reservation originally for 3 nights only stayed 1 because didn't have time to find another place before game time. All rooms were smoking rooms smelled musty , beds weren't comfortable and bathroom tiny. It was probably a nice place about 1970.
