Green Mill Village Hotel & Suites, BW Signature Collection

My wife and I recently decided to attend an Amish/Mennonite auction in Arthur to benefit missions in Haiti. We decided to spend the night at the Best Western Plus in Arcola. The hotel is located right off I-57. There’s nothing really around the immediate vicinity of the hotel. TIP: On the other (west) side of the interstate there are several fast food choices. The hotel is about six years old and bills itself as a convention center. It has two ballrooms, a fitness center and an indoor pool. The lobby is decorated in bright colors and has several seating areas. The free breakfast is served in a nicely set-up area next to the lobby. Check-in was efficient and friendly. Free WiFi is available. Our room (327) was huge, almost like an efficiency apartment. We entered into the first section, which had a kitchen setup (microwave, small fridge and coffee maker). The large closet also stored the iron/ironing board. There was a desk in this section along with a bathroom vanity sink along the far wall. To the left was a separate room with a tub/shower and commode. Water pressure was fine. There was a selection of Pharmacopia Citrus toiletries and a hair dryer. And a set of ear plugs, which were unnecessary. The bedroom/sitting area was on the other side of the wall and was also surprisingly spacious. It was nicely decorated in earth tones. The king-size bed came with four pillows. (The bed was firm, but not overly so.) There was a dresser, bench. lounge chair and ottoman. And a large flat-screen TV. TIP: The hotel brochure says the furniture is Amish-made and it was beautiful. The hotel was spotless. A card in the room indicates how you can go green and make life easier for the maid staff. We were traveling with a friend who stayed in adjoining room 329, which offered the option of pass-thru doors. Her room had a different layout: two queen-size beds. Otherwise, it was similarly decorated and comfortable. The free breakfast offered a multitude of hot and cold items. If you can’t find something you like, you’re obviously too picky. The coffee could have been a bit stronger in our opinion. With taxes and AAA discount, our room was just shy of $130, which we felt was reasonable.
