Ashley Guest House

Just spent a wonderful family weekend at Ashley House. It is a lovely, well equipped, beautifully decorated house, with plenty of space and lots of character... we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The fresh flowers and the basket of goodies definitely made us feel welcome and were a lovely touch. Bedrooms are all gorgeous and very comfortable. The location is great, being only a 15/20 minute walk into York and all it has to offer. 'Bishy' Road looks like it has some great shops and eateries, although we didn't partake on this occasion. We have visited York many times, but never really seen this side of town and we really liked it. We enjoyed a couple of walks along the river, once into Bishopthorpe, which is lovely (and where we stopped for 'refreshment'😊). The nearby Rowntree Park is also lovely, and well worth a visit. As the weather was kind to us, we were able to enjoy the little courtyard at the house, which was perfect. Thank you to Phil and Emma. They are lovely hosts and made the whole process of booking easy, and were happy to share any advice or information about the area if asked, without being intrusive. (When we booked they gave us access to an app which had lots of useful information). They clearly want their guests to feel relaxed and comfortable during their stay, and they definitely achieved this. The house is a great place to share with family and friends, and a brilliant location! Absolutely recommend.
