I have just spent 2 nights at Hamnavoe and was very impressed. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There was a TV in the room and also tea, coffee, and snacks. The breakfast was good and plentiful with a choice of cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cold meat. Gordon  the owner was friendly and helpful and was happy to go the extra mile to make sure my stay was pleasant and comfortable.  If I was in this area again I would certainly stay here again

We stayed here after cycling into JoG. Gordon was amazing, attentive and a fantastic host. The beds were comfy and the breakfast suited my Gluten Free diet. Thank you Gordon for your hospitality and recommendations. It was lovely to stay in your home from home. 

The Hamnavoe is a homely B&B. Gordon was a helpful host & provided a very plentiful continental breakfast. Great location for the JOG signpost & the Duncansby lighthouse & stacks. The room & bed was comfortable, the only downside was the shared bathroom, which we hadn’t been expecting (our fault for not checking). 

Host Gordon went above and beyond with helping us get around. I don't know how we would have enjoyed John O'Groats and the Orkney Islands without Gordon's help. The B and B itself was great value for the price and we loved the quiet and cleanliness. John O'Groats, "The Stacks" and the Orkney Islands were the highlight of our 11 day vacation.  I'm missing it already and hope to return in the future.

My sister and I had travelled from the south coast to john o groats by bus, using our bus passes  (two oldies!!) Hugging the coast roads  all the way up, although  not able to use our passes in scotland. .....anyway.......the Hamnavoe b and b was our very last stop and it was excellent . The lady bus driver on our 30th bus....stopped outside to drop us off!  It was clean comfy and homley. Our lovley host even took us to the local  restaurant  for our evening meal.  He took us to the 'signpost ' for the obligatory photos , and  the next morning, after a very comfy nights sleep, and a breakfast of cereal ,meats ,cheese , toast,  lovley, he took us to catch our bus back  to inverness to start our long journey home. Its was a lovley last night to end  our 1,015 mile... 30 bus......8 day adventure. ......what a giggle.  


Had a great stay here. Gordon was fav with directions and recommendations. We were late arriving but that wasn’t a bother. Room was clean and had everything we needed or would want (tv, WiFi, hairdryer cute wee snacks etc) with the bathroom just next door. Breakfast wasn’t cooked but was plentiful and the offer of more was always there. Perfect wee stay and would stay again!

Gordon is a warm, and helpful friendly host.  An excellent stay after completing the John O'Groats Trail.   The continental breakfast was more than adequate, and the berries were excellent.     My room was well equipped.

To say I was blown away is an understatement and I am not talking about the wind at the countries end or start . 
Gordon was a true Highlander who could not do enough to help or assist in having some of the best couple of days I’ve travelled.
The weather magical the views walks unforgettable breakfast a great start Gordon’s service was the BEST quality food bedding comfort . As my ex Governor of California use to say I’ll be back . 

Stayed here the year a couple of year ago and couldn't have asked for anything better.. lovely accommodation and great breakfast! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who might be staying in this part of the world..

Genuinely lovely family bed & breakfast. A very warm Scottish welcome from Gordon & Elly. We only stayed one night ( doing the North Coast 500 route) but could have easily stayed another.Clean, spacious, well equipped room. Simple but plentiful continental breakfast. Homely and a wonderful view of Orkney from our bedroom window. This is an authentic old fashioned B & B and Gordon is one of the loveliest people we met on our travels.

Highly recommended

Visited on part of the 500. Decent room and good bed. Tea and coffee etc in room. 

It is a shared bathroom with isn’t great tbf. More of an air b n b feel than the traditional b n b. Breakfast was good, served around a big table with other guests. Again, not an issue but more air b n b

Would recommend as a base for the night. Very friendly homely feel and Gordon was helpful with requests.

Our host Gordon was a gentleman, nothing too much trouble and served up a great continental breakfast, cheese, meats, fruit and lots more and lashings of coffee. No dinner here so off out, this late in the year not much on offer, book ahead is a good idea. Would certainly return
