so so helpful and i didn't even meet them
i rang when i arrived and the gentleman i spoke to was brilliant the key to my room was on the desk waiting the room was great tv, tea and coffee really comfy beds and brilliantly presented amazing price i just wanted one night up next morning for a bike ride would definitely recommend

FANTASTIC

We were told our room was No 8 but when we got there the check in details said room 4 very confusing. I rang the helpline and was told just stay there all the rooms are the same!!! My partner flushed the on suite toilet and it leaked every where when we checked none of the plumbing was connected. Rang the helpline  again and they said we'll fix it tomorrow use the communal toilet and we will give you  discount!!! If there was a minus star rating I would have given it that. Weekend totally ruined

Nightmare

The Chedburgh - All fur coat and no knickers with farting & burping. 
Where to begin? - from the start I suppose - from the outside The Chedburgh looks great but then you go inside -  we had no issues entering the accommodation - outside lock box key etc with our room Key left on a sideboard in the hall  - no sign of the owners just a text to advise on method of entry which is all fine. 
The family room - we were allocated the King Suit - not as grand as you imagine for £105 per night without breakfast for a family of 3 people. 
The lounge - great size room and comfortable to sit and watch TV but then down to the detail - the electric fancy fire did  not work and visible cobwebs around the unit tells me it’s not been looked at for a while.  Tea and coffee tray nice idea until you realise the kettle is on the other side of the room  on a table but the lead doesn’t reach the  plug socket - you have to put the kettle on a chair or the floor to make a brew. 
Next the double bedroom -couldn’t get the radiator to work so the room was freezing.  No bedside tables or lamps so knocking around in the dark and in the morning the high level windows let the light in as you have to be an 10’ giant to roll the small blind. 
Next the bathroom - good size but windows that won’t close and are permanently ajar, a large number of live plug sockets (3 doubles & a coax  i think) which Im not sure would pass building regs being in a bathroom.  Unfinished skirting boards and half painted (you get the picture) The toilet is on an extremely noisy saniflow system that would wake everyone up but not as bad as the next bit. 
The second bedroom with 2 single beds - ideal you’d think for kids until your daughter who’s on her own asks at 2:00am to swap beds as she can hear someone though a very thin locked door thats in the room. I swap and she jumps in with my wife . I enter the room and  I’m thinking ok - but then realise that on the other side of the very thin locked door must be a kitchen as someone is noisily making burnt cheese on toast (or burning something) in the middle of the night and the bedroom now stinks of burnt food and to top that off the man in the kitchen is farting and burping loudly - must have been a good night wherever he’d been but not great for us as he’s scared our daughter hence the reason for writing this review as I’m sat up in a single bed at 3:00am  in a room stinking of burnt Welsh Rarebit listening to a symphony of bodily noises. 
There’s a brand new Premier  Inn down the road that guarantees you a good night sleep in a family room without the bodily orchestra for nearly half the price - lesson learned

On arrival heating wasn't on. Room was cold and window didn't shut properly. Floor was filthy with someone's dead skin on it. When I complained we were given a room that wasn't much better with an extractor fan and blind that was broken and TV was filthy. My pillow had blood on it.  You don't get to meet the owner which is probably best for him!
AVOID!!!!!!

Absolute Disgrace!!!

Lovely, clean place. We were greeted by the owner who couldn,t have been more helpful. He got our room ready an hour early. Everything you need for a comfortable nights stay. Clean bedding and towels and lovely view of the sea from the top room. Will definitely visit again. Locsl eateries on your doorstep, the beach a short walk away. Fantastic.

Loved it!

Very noisy , no toilet paper for 2 days , its has workers staying there a lot , so banging doors at 5am , didnt feel welcome and didnt really feel relaxed , loud music and drunken workers .Did inform the owners ,they didnt seem bothered , seems they remove any negative reviews , of are willing to accept good reviews ,you have to accept bad reviews .Stay clear ,wish i had .

Dreadful ..noisy ... unwelcoming... 0/10

Booked for two nights using clubcard vouchers. Immediately disappointed. Room outdated,  in a state of disrepair and in need of a thorough clean. Shower disgusting.  I have no idea how this accommodation got positive reviews. Host informed us, after showing us our room, that friends and family were visiting that night. On returning to the accommodation at approximately 11pm it was noisy downstairs and this continued to be the case with me having to ask two young children to keep the noise down, at 2am! The noise continued until after 4am and the children continued to run around and chap at our door long after me asking them not too.
I was so glad our young Son had opted not to stay, and stay with family, or he would have got no sleep. For all the reasons mentioned we decided we could not stay for a second night and thankfully managed to find alternative accommodation, which was fantastic. On leaving. I gave the host the room key and stated we were leaving to go somewhere else. To my absolute disbelief, he did not ask why. He took the keys and said he was sorry. If he had asked me he would have received this review directly, rather than reading it online. 
If the owner/s are in doubt about my review I have pictures which I would be happy to share if necessary. 

Avoid!

Amazing find , the hosts Paul and Louise couldnt do enough to help and answer any queries , the room itself was large with ensuite facilities and we both got a lovely couple of nights sleep in really comfy beds.

The owners work hard as well as having jobs - the room was spotlessly clean , we didnt have breakfast but i can only presume this is as excellent as the hotel.

The location is superb , 2 minutes from town , 2 mins from beach and 5 mins from Train station , parking was free on the road.

If you are expecting a Hilton Hotel for the price you pay - you will not find this anywhere in the World - but if you are looking for a fabulous little hotel in the heart of Whitley Bay for a good price and impeccable hosts - then this is the place for you - cant find anything to fault this hotel , even the cleaner Val was lovely to talk to.

Also Paul - no joke get that photo on your wall shown to someone at Tourist Board for Whitley Bay as it is amazing and looks as though it has been taken by a Professional Photographer with years of practice - breathtaking.

Once again many thanks for our fabulous stay - we will be back on our next business / pleasure trip.

EXCELLENT HOTEL A***

My dad and I stayed here for one night after driving from London. We stayed in a twin share with the shared bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The shared bathroom was good; clean and user friendly. Louise is welcoming and cooked a decent eggs and bacon for breakfast.
