We stayed in room number 7 on the top floor . It had a shower room with toilet , spotlessly clean . The bedroom with double bed was very comfortable and lovely sea views. 
Very large room with sofa , chair and coffee table . Electric fire and tv, limited tv channels but that was fine . 
The kitchenette was very clean with cooker , fridge, hob and enough pots and pans etc for two people. Would advise you bring all condiments ie teabags salt sugar etc. lovely sea views again . 
Very easy to access the room with the codes provided. The lift is out of order so expect to climb lots of stairs. 
The only criticism I have is the shower, if you are a larger person you won’t fit in it . Other than that 10 out of 10 .

February night away.

Having stayed in silver Street 1 in October we returned as the location is central and car park right next door, we did take our own pillows though. It was a cosy warm room which is why we returned. Unfortunately even though I requested the same room we were upgraded! This was nice of them but not what we wanted at all. Blue bell cottage had 3 levels, stairs a steep as Robin Hood Bay and no TV in the bedroom which is a must for us to watch in a morning and evening. We also don't want to walk down 2 flights of stirs to make a cuppa. The company did sort this straight away and we were put in silver Street 15. Again car park good, we had again bought our own pillows but it was very basic, heater broken and just a bit tired but it did have the TV in the room and we had a lovely 2 nights. The spoons in the room were dessert spoons and they still just put loose tea bags and sugar ect in a freezer bag. A better tea tray would be nicer please! We will return as its comfortable and close to everything but I will book direct and ensure I get the discount and room I want.

Central location , comfy room, few touches needed

We had booked with discovery accommodation last year (2022) - we booked a mini suite for a week on Silver Street. The mini suite was really nice and clean and we had no issues. 

This time around we were a little disappointed. We booked a 'premium' room for a week, which was No1 Beach House, but struggled to see what was so premium about it. 

On one hand, it was a good location near the town centre and has a nice cafe around the corner, decent appliances (microwave, oven, kettle, and toaster), the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean, clean bathroom, good WiFi, and there was plenty of space. 

However, we were not informed that there would be workmen in the building ripping up and replacing the carpets in the hallway. This would not have been an issue until one of them opened our door without knocking to get the piece under the door - luckily we were decent and had the chain on but it left us both on edge. 

On top of this, we were not provided any sponges or tea towels for cleaning the dishes we used, there was food still on the cutlery (I am assuming from previous guests not having these either), the tap in the kitchen was loose when we arrived and eventually became fully disconnected which we fixed and is now secure, there was dust on the bed from where a smoke alarm had been fitted above it, lots of dust on light shades, lots of dog hair on the carpets, the heating was set to a cool temperature and was on a timer so the room was freezing, the walls are thin so we heard everything in the building, and excessive noise early hours between 3am and 6am - in particular people walking up and down stairs which are located above and next to the bedroom and slamming doors - (not sure if from workmen or other guests). 

I will also add that parking on the street is a nightmare so I would not bother with the scratch cards, I recommend the car park on Silver Street if you don't mind a 2 minute walk. 

I think next time we visit Whitby we will book elsewhere. 

No1 Beach House 

Just awful! Dirty, uncomfortable, tiny bed in a huge cold room, duvet is more like a sheet, pillows are paper thin, kitchen splash back for a headboard, and to top it off, on one of the coldest nights of the year we have no heating!!

No sink, any pots have to be washed in the dirty bathroom! This place and all the discovery accommodations in Whitby need shutting down! No idea how they get away with it!
The whole company and accommodations are a joke!

Beware! Never stay at this accommodation

great location on the crescent parking close by if youre lucky.clean and beds comfy.expensive for what it is.very poor wifi.very poor tv channels not even freeview.no dishclothes or teatowels provided so had to buy some.interior doors dont shut well .no lock on bathroom door.needs a shower door or curtain as it makes a mess.taps dripping kitchen and bathroom.

lacks value for money

Lovely sea view room, with everything we needed for our short stay. Located on the cliff top a short walk away from the beach. We were pleasantly surprised by the room after reading some of the reviews. It’s was very clean and we found all the staff to be helpful & polite.

Lovely clean accommodation in the centre of Whitby. It’s a five minute walk from the beach, shops, pubs. Bigger room than expected for the price we paid. Self check in was easy to use, found the property using what3words.

No parking, had to park 2 miles away, notified prior that had someone in a wheelchair,  gate padlocked in evening couldn't get car in for wheelchair  nobody on site to help, person I spoke to had no idea where I could park. Very basic don't use, booked 2 nights, couldn't stay came home early

Awful stay

AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS. 
I am 7 and a half months pregnant, and upon walking into our mini suite on Silver Street we were greeted with a strong stench of urine to the point that it made my partner and I feel sick. As we walked around the room it became apparent that the room and bathroom had not been cleaned for some time. There were:

- Thick yellow urine stains on the bathroom floor 
- Dried urine on the toilet seat 
- Blood / poo stains smeared on the sofa 
- Dried blood on the hairdryer 
- White powder smeared all over the table in the bedroom 
- Dried thick white stain on the kitchen counter
- Coffee stains all down the side of the fridge 
- Rubbish left out on the kitchen side 
- Stains and patches all over the carpet 
- Unbearable smell in the bathroom 

We took photos of all of these things but unfortunately I was limited to only upload 4 photos to this review. 

We immediately called the customer service phone number to complain about the state of the room. Shortly afterwards, a staff member came to our room and we pointed everything out to her. At this point, they tried to offer us another room which still needed to be cleaned so it would not be ready for a number of hours. As a heavily pregnant woman, this was not acceptable given I had been walking around Whitby for 4 hours until we were able to check into our room at 3pm. I also explained I had no faith in the company after seeing our room, as this was a health risk to myself and my unborn baby. The lady PROMISED us a full refund once we told her we would be leaving and driving home (making our total journey mileage for the day 240 miles). A cleaner then appeared in our room who also couldn’t believe the state of the room. It was disgusting and I would not even allow a dog to stay in there. 

As requested by the staff member who came to our room, I sent all of the information of our complaints to their email address and since then they have lied and refused to give us a refund or any compensation whatsoever, and not even an apology!!! They have been extremely argumentative and have taken no responsibility for the state of the room whatsoever. It’s clear to see from the photographs that the room was completely unacceptable and a risk to anyone staying there. 

They have now decided to stop replying to my emails and the last comment they made was “we will not be commenting about this any further”. SHOCKING customer service! 

I will now be reporting this accommodation to Trading Standards, Health and Safety Executive UK, and the Whitby Tourist Board. At this point, it isn’t even about getting our money back. It’s about the company taking responsibility and preventing this from happening to anyone else again! So please do yourselves a favour and if you are considering staying with this property, DO NOT!!! 

Blood, urine and faeces all over. Hadn’t been cleaned in a while - a health and safety hazard. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 

I probably did not do enough research as to how Discovery hotels  workThe Virtual customer service once I got through was polite and helpful but it took 40 minutes to get through.  I was asking for a blanket as duvet was very thin.  The heating was nt very efficient and in December more detail should be givenHousekeeping - if you could find any -  very nice and helpfulWould book again in summer
