Place is ready to close (March 2023). Course awful, Clubhouse awful. No Food at all. Watton Town is run down. Not much to attract me back tbh.
Heard that the place is up for sale. Hopefully new owner spends some much needed time and money on it.

This resort is a home away from home. Located in the town of Watton. The people of Watton were very welcoming and friendly. The resort is abut 1 1/2 hours outside London, but is still accessible if you have a rental car. Overall, we had a great holiday and hopefully when this pandemic is over we will be able to return and complete our trip.

Friendly staff and good amenities in a pleasant rural setting. Perfect if you are a keen golfer and excellent centre for touring the area. The units are fully equipped and the only dowbside is a lack if WiFi

What a great place to stay. The room was very comfortable for us. We had an end unit. No close parking, but could drop our luggage & then park in the general carpark. A good base to visit area like Norwich & Kings Lynn. The town of Watton was within walking distance & had a good sized Tesco for shopping. Watton also has a great deal of history with many old buildings.

Pleasant surroundings in a quiet area with a view of the golf course.  We were welcomed in the club bar, where we enjoyed a drink and snack, whilst reading the newspapers. 
The apartment was spacious and comfortable. 
Easy access to the nearby town and to Norwich.

We have just enjoyed a lovely holiday at this resort . It is quiet and in well kept surroundings. It is a short walk into town where there are shops, pubs and take- aways. 
The staff looked after us and were very helpful. 
If you are looking for some peace and quiet this is a good place to unwind.


We stayed in a one bed apartment. Facilities were ok kitchenette was small but we didnt use the cooker just the kettle, could of done with more tea bags though. It was clean and tidy. The bedroom was upstairs bathroom downstairs so if you dont mind then it's ok. Breakfast was ok alot of everything (could of been slightly smaller). I dont think I would stay there again but would recommend it as it was a nice quiet place.

Had some points that were going to be lost , so use or loose.
Local small town very run down
Decent size Tesco about 1 mile away at other end of the town.
As a base for a visit to East Anglia very good. Blickling Hall (A Jewel in National Trusts Crown), Norwich, Holt, North Norfolk Coast, Sandringham, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge  all about an hour away by Car
No wifi in the apartments, can sit in the Club Room, when it is open
"Food available at all times" = No Cook, No food!
Gas and electricity extra!
Apartment 25 (disabled access) clean., bright,  smart allbeit somewhat functional. Kitchen well appointed. 25 is only appartment you can park your car outside.

Richmond Park Golf Club  at Watton10 miles from Thetford. Small 1 bedroom apartment sleeps 2 with sofabed in lounge. Suitable for summer season but in colder months advised by reception that electric wall mounted heaters expensive to run. Thought that window and wall insulation inadequate. Beds most uncomfortable due to age as was the sofa in the lounge area. But the clubhouse and proximity of course makes it attractive for golfers..  

Thetford Staycation alternative.

I self checked in and there were no clear instructions on how to do that. There is bad internet coverage  the area and there was no wifi available in the room in 2024? there was an additional charge electric usage. Even the heater was very old.

Property and service is last century. NO MODERNITY

Resort is tired and in need of updating. No wifi in apartments. Mould in bathroom. Cobwebs in kitchen and main bedroom, Electric appliances dated and power hungry. TV so old it only had scart connections. Location for visiting Norfolk is fine. Apartment walls are thin. No food available although it is advertised on signage adjacent to the resort.

Below Par for the number of points used.

The apartment was very cold due to draught coming from the bottom of the main door. The fixtures and furnishings are very dated and cannot see where any of the owners maintenance fees have been spent Small TV (20") ,  uncomfortable beds and sofas. The position of the cooker is unsafe as anyone coming through the door could catch pan handles on the hob. Clubhouse and restaurant had limited opening hours so no chance of a meal in the evening. Would not recommend.

Very run down resort

We stayed across two houses, one on the path from the clubhouse to the 1st tee, the other overlooked the 15th fairway. 

The first house could have 6 people, the second had 4. Both of these would create quite a crowded house. We stayed for a week and the overall impression is that the whole place needs some TLC.

When we first arrived into the reception, there were certificates for an excellent resort in the 2010s. Sadly, the COVID pandemic hasn't been kind to this place, staff are at a minimum and the maintenance has suffered. A lick of paint inside and out would really help. So would a decor update. We had to bring across a toaster from the second house in the mornings, the kettles leaked water, I tried to hoover the apartment and the cleaner fell apart as I brought it out, the windows and window sills were filthy and I went out to give them a clean. There isn't any internet and the signal in the second house (down in a dip, trees all around) was patchy at best (I basically only had 1 bar when on the far end of a sofa, craning my neck). The golf club restaurant is still shut, so a guide for the local take-aways and restaurants would be really helpful. Ditto a guide to local attractions like national trust parks.

However, the staff who are there are very helpful, kind and attentive. They obviously care about the golf club and resort and are trying their best in a difficult situation. Overall, the apartments are clean. The water pressure is brilliant! I slept on a really comfy sofa-bed, the duvet was lovely and warm. 

We didn't have any problems with noisy golfers.

The resort works best as a base to get around to other local locations like Kings Lynn, Norwich, the Norfolk coast.

Good base for local area

We were very disappointed with our accommodation at Richmond Park. The apartment was outdated and very tired. The furnishings were old and stained, as we the carpets. The kitchen was old and not very clean. The cooker was greasy. The fridge was small and the freezer compartment was broken. No frying pan. There was nothing in this unit that was of any good quality. The bathroom cabinet was rusty and we couldn't use it, and the beds were rock hard! Very small tv and no radio. We had to find a receptionist when we arrived to book in and on departing at 9.30am the reception was closed. We found a cleaner and gave her our key! The place is open but run on a skeleton staff. Sorry but would not recommend this golf club accommodation at all. 

Poor accommodation

We had to cut our 2 week holiday short after only 5 days. We went in January. The apartment was cold on entry and we were told to turn the heating off when we went out as the storage heaters were very expensive to run.(£67 for 5 days) Onlys saw one person when we arrived to get the keys, then reception was always locked. Some other people came that evening at 6pm and could not get into their apartment or get a response to the telephone number posted on the locked reception door, so went home. Furnishings were old, tired and not clean. We paid an extra £85 a week for an upgrade to a 3 bedroom as it had 2 bathrooms, what a waste of money. The walls are paper thin and when golfers get up at 6am in the morning, you can hear every word, the kettle going on and the shower. Altogether the worst holiday we have had. Complained to rci as I don't consider this golf club is good enough for rci timeshare holidays.

Not advised for a holiday

We booked this resort via RCI and the following is our findings.
1) Very run down and broken and tired furnishings.
2) Absolutely now WIFi on site and told was available in the clubhouse which is not true!
3) The Resturant is not in operation and has not been for the last 1.5 years. We were told the chef has just left-Not True as told by the bar staff.!
4) A tiny 20” TV with no CD .
5)During booking in we were told-warning us that the Fire Alarm was very sensitive, Just boiling some vegetables set off the Fire alarm in our apartment causing evacuation of 
the whole  adjoining apartment block.Then told by the resort owner its also ‘Heat sensitive’. The day before our final seven day stay,  and leave the alarm went off at 5am in the morning and all of us  evacuated our apartments.We  had enough by this time, so left one day early. No idea or explanation why the alarm went off..
Just poor maintenance of dirty alarms, and our 1st alarm had to be cleaned by the only person on site - the Green Keeper.
Our worst experience ever by far with RCI and this resort should not be offered by RCI .
Features on their site need to be updated to reflect the resort.
DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT!!
