We stayed at Achill Guest House for one night before starting a canal boat trip from Alvechurch Marina. We appreciated that it is a family-run guest house with a funky charm one doesn’t find in a chain hotel, even if the walls are a little thin and we could hear our neighbors a little bit. Bed on the soft side but still slept well. Good location very close to a charming high street with Tudor era buildings, a pretty parish church and dining and breakfasting options (the bakery is fabulous). Very friendly and helpful owner.

Everything was as described and being able to use a fridge and microwave proved very useful.The owner was excellent providing us with everything that we needed.Highly recommend.

Very handy place to stay for our two-day event at the NEC.  Friendly and helpful owner and very comfortable beds. The village is picturesque and has a good range of restaurants and pubs.We'll hopefully be able to get a room here next time we're in the Birmingham area.

Was pleasantly surprised by the room and happy to have my own entrance direct into it. I was met by a very friendly lady who could give me lots of insight into the area. Very clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

Friendly and helpful staff. Whilst it feels a little dated, the value for money was excellent, and would definitely stay again

I had a lovely 2 night stay here, the owner couldn't do enough to ensure I had a lovely comfortable stay. The room was well furnished and clean. The kingsize bed and pillows were soft and very comfortable. Loved the disco lights bath feature! Towels, toiletries and kettle facilities all provided with easy access to extras if required. Also bonus use of fridge and microwave on the landing if required. Great guides for local facilities and recommendations on food places and things to do. The village itself was lovely and quiet. Fish and chip shop - brilliant food! 15 minute drive to NEC so ideal for what I needed and will be back again.

We stayed for two nights with our grandson, had all the facilities we needed in our room and a local Toby carvery walking distance away for a quick and easy breakfast before we went out for the day. Room was comfortable, clean and welcoming, tea and coffee facilities available. Grandson enjoyed the party lights around the bath!! No issues with parking. Would definitely recommend.

Very comfortable bed, large bathroom with both bath and over-bath shower.  Super easy communication with Mary.  Easy access to the National Motorcycle museum for my conference.  Easy walking access to shops, cafes and restaurants in lovely neighbourhood.  My only negative would be that the microwave had old food on the glass rotating plate - this may have been left by a previous user between cleans. great to have access to fridge and microwave.  Thank you for a very comfortable stay.

Wonderful place to stay!

Upon arrival easy to find, just off the main road through the town, has a stone drive way with 4 spaces available outside for free parking, if these are full there is a large lay-by opposite, 

The first impression is this is quite a small property, but it does go back a long way when inside, the outside looks a little dated but in good condition, when inside the lobby is well decorated and very modern,

There is a huge modern looking spa in what I imagine used to be the lounge with extensive extension work done on the bottom floor, 

We were met by “Laura” and every friendly bubbly personable young lady, who showed us to the room, the key was in the door ready to go,

Walking into the room boom it was quite large with a huge super king bed and a single bed, nicely decorated and welcoming, 
- BED: very comfortable, good quality bedding and choice of firm or soft pillows

- TV: smart tv connected to the WiFi, very slow but hey I wasn’t here for tv I was here for sleep and an event in the close by city 

- Bathroom: Clean and in good repair, bath tub has party lights around it so you can rave whilst having a soak, this amused my 6 year old greatly 

- The window in the bathroom had a broken lock so wouldn’t close, this didn’t bother us as it was hot so we had them open anyway, but if it was winter it could’ve been an issue  

- NOISE: so the only bad point we had was a very noisy neighbour being loud til late and up early again, nothing the B&B can do really as sound proofing an older building is near impossible 

- BREAKFAST - no breakfast

Check out was easy as we had prepaid we just left the key in the door and left. 

Spa: they have a spa on site you can book into with a discount as staying guest, we were going to book but it was a “Mother and daughter” package and I was a “Father and daughter”

So wasn’t sure if we could or whether males could book Treatments so didn’t want to pre book and pay for a treatment that wasn’t possible!

All in all we will Happily return for the next event in Birmingham

Comfy room - unclear if males can use the spa?

Used the hotel for one night as travelling early from Birmingham airport. Booked the family room. Reasonable price, easy for airport, on site parking.  Friendly and helpful owner. Perfectly reasonable and nice for a short stay.  Walking distance to restaurants and pubs for food/drinks to suit different budgets.

We had our daughter’s 7th birthday party at Achill Spa this afternoon and it was just wonderful. From start to finish the team made everyone feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble. My daughter shared her party with another child from her class and Achill Spa made both the girls top priority, making sure all their friends were entertained and each of their personal needs were met ie, dietary requirements, any allergies and health conditions. These ladies are worth their weight in gold as I was able to sit back and relax, chat to other parents and just enjoy my daughter’s special afternoon. She had a smile from ear to ear all afternoon!!! Loved the cute relaxing eye masks and the choice of nail varnishes!! The children’s afternoon tea was so lovely and plenty of it!! Parents enjoyed the left overs as much as the children enjoyed the choice of delicious foods. Thank you to all the staff that made our girls party just perfect!!

7th Birthday Spa Party

Lovely place to stay, although we were a little late arriving we were welcomed by Laura. Obviously the room was still being decorated/updating, but would have preferred a shower for ease of climbing in and out , as it was a bit dodgy because the bath was a bit "slippery" after the shower. The massive bed was really comfortable, probably the best we have slept in on our stays. As with most places now, the breakfast was not included and maybe should be? Fortunately our evening meal tided us over until lunch on the way home. PS the "Disco bath" was novel 😂

What a treasure! We needed a place close to where we were picking up our rental narrow boat and this place fit the bill. We were all very pleased with Laura's place. The spa is on the main floor and just a very few rooms upstairs.  Laura is a great host, very cheerful and accommodating. Our flight got in early and she just worked with it. Breakfast the next morning was so special. We paid an extra 12 pounds each and her husband came in and we got a full fantastic English breakfast cooked for us, along with lots of humour and fun. He even brought out blood pudding if anyone wanted to try (only one took the challenge). The couple are personality plus and make your stay fun. 

Achill Guest House will make you stay special

Easy to locate from M42.Conveniently to the village for food and exploration especially if interested in history. We only wanted a room for a pre early departure from Birmingham airport which was a 15 minute drive away and will consider doing so again. It was a very hot night so a fan had been provide. On the landing was a fridge, toiletries and extra tea &  coffee etc.
