We had a large bed which was comfortable and clean and a satisfactory breakfast with delicious vine tomatoes. Provision was unpretentious and the hostess was kind. We stayed in order to attend a play at Stratford and found the location pleasant, quiet and easy to find.

Comfortable without frills

Very Disappointed with our stay here. Booked an overnight stay with friends to extend a nice evening out in Henley. We were looking forward to meeting up at breakfast to reflect on our pleasant evening out on the high street. 
However we were all disappointed with our rooms which were all cold and bathroom facilities inadequate. The heating had obviously not been  switched on until we arrived.....as the building dated back to the 16th century it was extremely cold in the rooms. Very uncomfortable.
The breakfast room was musty and cold too. Poor breakfast served cold. No vegetarian choice for one of the group. No green tea!  Very poor choice. At £90 per room per night we were all very disappointed. Will not return or recommend sadly.

Overnight stay with friends

Musky smell throughout, appreciate old building, air fresheners required. Asked for payment 5 mins after arriving, nice welcome! Room small, smelly & bathroom very dated with mould in shower. Would have left immediately if not for meeting up with friends for pre Christmas get together. Breakfast room again very dated with mouldy snell, Sadly would not recommend.

Just awful

Staying for one night only.Checked in late afternoon for 20 minutes as had to be somewhere nearby early evening.Room awful so dark and depressing,badly in need of update.Bathroom even worse, maceraton loo so noisy too.Room overlooked the road so noisy as well.Bed so uncomfortable and like a board, bedding looked not too clean.We came back later in the evening to have a shower and bath, suddenly bedroom door was opened and hammering on the bathroom door, I asked them to wait a minute ( lock not working on door), owner comes in saying water was coming down the ceiling!! Having got over that, was in the Bath!! Again she lets herself into the bedroom and pushes into the Bathroom, convinced water was coming from our Bathroom.Totalling embarrassing.To finish off next morning, breakfast disgusting ,coffee in teapot revolting, sausage undercooked, tinned grapefruit !! Quite simply the worst place I have ever stayed in.No apologies from Owner at breakfast or before we left about stomping into room twice either.The whole place needs refreshing, especially bathroom , and new lock on Bathroom door would be nice too.

Appalling

The exterior is as expected for an old property. The car park was limited. The Owner/Manager was welcoming and showed us to room 2. The bed was a very large double which took up most of the room, which was very musty. The bedding did not smell fresh although the bed was quite comfortable. The whole place needed refreshing. The breakfast was included and was not very tasty. The sausages were just cooked on the inside although looked cooked on the outside. The fresh tomato were good. The tea was one step away from plain water. The coffee was the same and the pot had been filled to the absolute top so it spilt as you lifted it. I would not recommend. It was vastly over priced and I would not call it an hotel just a B&B.

Not as expected

The exterior of the building looks quite good, updated and in keeping with what you would find in Henley-in-Arden and good parking at the rear of the property.  The proprietor was pleasant and welcoming and this made for a good first impression.  I was unprepared for what I saw next, I am not one for being over critical and prefer to focus on the pros rather than the cons.  Unfortunately, what came next challenged my way of thinking.  

There was an overwhelming musty smell and the property is badly let down by the interior.  The carpets on the stairs and in the room looked scruffy and worn out.  I stayed in room No. 1,  a small double for single occupancy and smelled of damp.  The bedsheets and pillowcases were an off white, discoloured, marked and worn by years of over use and washing.  I noticed the under rim in the toilet, which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for years, stained by mould etc - massive hygiene issue! I felt very unwell.  The place has been neglected and badly in need of updating, you cannot run a property like this these days and get away with it.  

Good From Far But Far From Good

Great location is all that’s going for it.  Will not be staying here again, and would not recommend... fusty old place, letting Henley down badly.  I booked here because I’d grown up in Henley and it was always a local stalwart, but bitterly disappointed I’m afraid
