Stuart House Boutique Bedrooms

We stayed in Fox, an upstairs room. Cosy but well appointed and full of character as you would expect. Lots of niceties and with a comfy bed and pillows. About a 5 minute walk from The Fox pub where we checked in, with private parking. Staff were delightful and very helpful and friendly. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are steep and tight - you have been warned! My only negative would be that the toilet was clearly on view through the floor-to-ceiling frosted glass door, I had to constipate myself and wait to go for a poo in the pub. Overall, a delightful place to stay, peaceful, quiet and affordable.

Great place. Stayed here for one night visiting after the Gold Cup in Cheltenham. We stayed in Grouse. Lovely room, great bed and lovely little extras in the room. Central to Stow, we will be back. Friendly hosts and  excellent food and drinks in the bell.

We stayed for one night as part of a Secret Escapes Deal which included dinner & breakfast at The Bell.  We chose an annexe room - The Dog which was lovely.  A large room with Queen size bed and a sofa and with a nice walk in shower. Enjoyed the free treats - Sloe Gin & choc brownie chunks.  Would choose this room again when we return.  A definite bonus  was the free parking facilities at the back of the hotel.  We loved the courtyard with the rattan furniture - spent a good two hours here enjoying the sunshine with a couple of other guests.  This was our second stay at Stuart House and won’t be our last.  Only one small criticism - we were shown to our room by the housekeeping ladies but they had no knowledge about room keys.  We managed to find out from another guest, that the keys have to be collected from The Bell.

W e stayed overnight and we were not disappointed. The rooms were absolutely fantastic, bed was super comfy, rooms were clean and smartly decorated. Complementary water, small wine and shortbread! We got a free room upgrade (the grouse) which was really appreciated after a long drive and being stuck in traffic! Breakfast was perfect, prompt, hot and delicious - complementary with the room. The owners and staff were so friendly and accommodating, service was perfect. We will certainly be recommending and returning.

Stayed here for one night this bank holiday weekend and it was perfect! We stayed in room 3 in Stuart house which is a small double boutique room on the ground floor, it was so cosy and welcoming perfect amount of space for the two of us with rustic cotswolds decor 😊 The Bell pub is a couple of hundred meters down from Stuart house which is right in the centre of the town, so it’s based at two different locations (check in at The Bell pub where they give you keys to access Stuart house and your room) I thought it was quite nice walking down the road to The Bell for dinner and then back to Stuart house in the evening to stay. The staff at The Bell pub were superb and nothing was too much trouble even while they were super busy. We had an evening meal there and the food was beautiful and the atmosphere cosy and welcoming, highly recommend booking a table! ☺️ Only downside is parking, they have about 7 spaces outside the pub so it’s a race to get them or you have to park else where like the long stay car park but it’s quite a walk out of the centre or on the street but they are also super busy until about 4/5pm. Other than that absolutely loved staying here!

Room was of very good size and convenient to the town.  Modern appointments with very good comfort. Staff at the pub were friendly and helpful. Easy walk to pub for breakfast which had a very good selection included.

We stayed for 2 nights in late July. We had a seamless check in at The Bell. On arriving in the room is was fairly small but was very tasteful and had everything you needed. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean and well stocked with local toiletries. The location was perfect, just slightly down from the main square (close to all shops, pubs and coffee shops). 

The Bell pub itself was very nice and the breakfast (and service) was first class. Excellent choice in great surroundings. We would definitely stay again
 

I booked a night in a boutique bedroom at Stuart house, with my daughter.  It was such a delightful stay. The building is quirky, full of character, and in the centre of beautiful Stowe on the Wold. Our room was accessed by small, spiralling stairs. We are agile and found this added to the ambience. The room was cosy and perfectly boutique! There was a welcome bottle of port and homemade biscuits, labelled, complimentary. Everything was as it was described in its advertisement. 
Breakfast was a short walk away at the Bell. A very inviting room, set out well. We were welcomed and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. 
I would love to stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in the Stuart House accommodation, two rooms, one at the front and one at the back.  The rooms were small but had everything we needed.  Port and biscuits were a nice touch on arrival.
The rooms were very hot, and unfortunately we could not open the one window in each room.  A lesser tog duvet would have been a good idea.
Food at the Bell was excellent and good value for money.  A £32 bottle of rose wine was served at the table at room temperature and on asking for something to chill it, a bucket and ice were brought to us.  However, we had finished our main course by the time it was cold enough to be pleasant to drink.

Booked via Hotels.com. we were expecting to stay in The Bell. This was better. Central to Stow. We expected the room to be small. It had some lovely touches like hair straightners, a Bluetooth speaker, and a tiny bottle of port. Huge shower and great towels. Big draw back was that the extractor fan was on all night. Mentioned this to staff at the Bell and we were upgraded to a larger room! Great. This extractor fan also stayed on all night, but the door to the ensuite was thicker.

Beautiful location, peaceful and quiet, lots of character and loads to do in the area

Free upgrade due to fan. 

We booked up for two nights 8th - 10th October with friends. We were given rooms Squirrel on the downstairs floor and Fox which is upstairs. Both rooms were very small and Squirrel is so small our friends had difficulty in such a confined area. Squirrel had no cupboards or draws for storage and the only hanging facility was several hooks along the wall at the end of the bed. Our room was Fox and was upstairs. When I say upstairs the staircase is a step, narrow spiral affair with a banister going around at hip height and a vertical banister going top to bottom. Some people would obviously find this difficult but we were both ok. Fox was slightly bigger than Squirrel and did have a hanging built in area for clothes but like our friends we lived out of our suitcases. 

Our Shower area was excellent but again there was nowhere for you to put your personal items. A few shelves or a wall mounted cupboard would really assist. The one thing we never liked at all is having an obscure glass door especially one with the toilet immediately behind it!! Anyway it is what it is, but although the glass is obscure you can still make out quite clearly things you would rather not see. The glass door is also not a snug fit and on the hinge side you have a 10mm gap from top to bottom which is off putting. Anyway apart from that we loved the shower room which was very clean and tidy. Also the bedroom has all you require with an iron, coffee and tea facility and they even have a fridge with drinks and snacks you can buy if you want.

Breakfast at Stuart House is taken at The Bell Inn which is literally only 10 minutes walk away and this was simply perfect. You also pick up your keys from the Bell Inn when you arrive but you can leave them in a secure key deposit area when you check out. Stuart House has a great parking area off the main high street through a narrow archway. 

All in all we loved staying here although you may think my review flagged up a couple of negative comments. The Cleaning staff and Bell Inn staff were simply superb and extremely helpful. Our friends in Squirrel room found there room far to hot on the first night and they immediately turned off the towel rail power as the valve on the towel rail was not working. There second night was much better for sleep quality. I would just finish off by saying Stuart House has in the main block four bedrooms downstairs and three upstairs. Some guests may find the upstairs a challenge with the staircase and I have attached some pictures to assist with the review.

We enjoyed are stay but some may find it difficult.

Enjoyable Stay

Wonderful

We enjoyed our stay at Stuart House, which is part of the bell inn.  The Bell is a short walk from stuart house where you will need to check in and go for breakfast.

Our room was comfortable and everything we needed but a little on the small side as we found we were getting in each other's way when trying to get ready in the morning.   

The breakfast at the bell was lovely, had lots of choice and the staff were very friendly.

There is no parking at Stuart house and you can try and get a space outside the bell, we were lucky and managed to get parked but there is only about 6 spaces outside.

Nice Stay

Stayed at Stuart House which is part of The Bell just down the road. It's all part of the Youngs brewery chain.

The room was a nice size and the shower was lovely. It needs some work doing in the bathroom as paint was peeling off quite badly and carpet needs replacing or cleaning. 

There is no parking here so have to try and park at the Bell which is tight on space for about 6 cars and some street parking if you can as it gets very busy. 

We would stay again but the rooms need some work.

Really lovely place to stay

We stayed for 1 night at Stuart House which is about a 5 min walk from the Bell. Our room was clean and tidy, albeit a little small but a decent size ensuite bathroom. We also had an evening meal at the pub which was really nice. The atmosphere and the staff made it a lovely anniversary meal. Breakfast was just as good. Full english with all the trimmings. We would stay again. Due to Storm Ciara our weekend was cut short but Stow is a great place to stay.

Stayed in room 3 which was very small with a small cupboard for your clothes and no drawer space .Also anybody over 6 feet 3 tall would struggle to stretch out in bed bathroom was nice but overall slightly disappointed with the accommodation.The Bell served a very nice breakfast and we had a late Sunday lunch which was excellent
