Absolutely disgraceful accommodation. 

We had to leave the room three times to request basic items like hand soap, bathmat, wifi password, CLEAN cups (we were provided dirty ones) and teaspoons. At one point there wasn't a staff member even around to assist us.

The shower was a mere trickle and the inside of the head fell off in my hand, scattering questionable black bits everywhere. Not fit for purpose.

There were squashed bugs on the wall of the room, the bedclothes were discoloured, the beds hard, the carpets filthy, the back of the mirror had come away. 

Having had a long day and no other options in the area, we put up with this shoddy place. In the morning, when I wanted to complain, the pub was locked up and there was not a soul in sight.

After returning home and speaking to the manageress on the phone, she claimed the room was "budget" and a "good price for the area." "Budget" does not excuse dirty, broken facilities.  

I paid £70 for this joke of a room. I wish I'd stayed in a Travelodge, it would have been a 100% upgrade from this hole. It seems as though the management at Copley Arms knows they can get away with terrible service. Why else would they continue to sell this room?

Where "budget" means dirty and broken

A fantastic lunch yesterday afternoon. Lovely old pub, really friendly service and one of the best lamb pies I have had in ages. Will definitely be returning with friends and family. Have driven past plenty of times before, now know to call in!

Brilliant Old Place

Visited for Sunday lunch with local U3A group and our starter was good but the roast main course was served on cold plates and the food was also only warm.  The presentation was messy with undercooked boiled cabbage and parsnips and topped with watercress!  Service was slow and the staff were unable to provide working salts cellars. If we hadn’t been in a group we would have sent the food back.  The meal was not cheap and represented bad value for money. The manager was not on site and a request for a call to discuss the poor experience has not been forthcoming. Will not be visiting again. 

Sunday lunch ruined

Visited this evening with my husband, son, in-laws and their dog and we had such a lovely time. We shared some starters - mussels, scallops, camembert and pigeon. It was all so beautifully presented and delicious. For mains we had fish and chips and the three bird chicken burger, again SO tasty and really big portions. The staff were so lovely and welcoming too. We have been to the copley before on a few occasions and its always been lovely but this time it really stood out as being fantastic. We had a great family meal thank you. Looking forward to coming back! 

Amazing! Definitely worth a visit. 

We popped by for a quick meal and there was plenty of space for us and the two dogs. The setting is lovely, it was raining when we came but I'm sure it's beautiful on a sunny day.
The food was good and the staff were very attentive. 

Good pub

All round excellent experience. Great food includingj fish and chips - not at all Greacy and nice touch with the Sanfire - plus  a large scotch egg starter. Traditional pub atmosphere and hospitality.  We will certainly visit again. Thank you

Proper British Pub

My friend and I booked again for our joint birthday lunch today.
As usual we were not disappointed.
The food was superb and the staff really helpful and friendly.
The pub is beautifully decorated for Christmas and the fire welcoming, warm and toasty.
Absolutely can't wait to go again!

Another fab meal!

We had a super Sunday lunch, a warm friendly welcome. The dining area was clean and cosy, the menu was good.
We had 3 courses all of excellent quality, which we were told was a high proportion of local produce.
Special thanks to the chef and Megan our waitress.

Super Sunday lunch

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while…

I work all over the country carrying out works for a large specialist government contracted electrical company. I am used to staying in bland premier inns/ travel lodges that offer no character in such locations as London, Wales, Plymouth, Leeds Etc.

However, The Copley Arms was an absolute breath of fresh air. I was unsure with my company booking an independent form of hospitality….

As soon as I walked in to this timeless pub I realised it was special. I felt instantly welcomed by the locals, roaring fire places and vibrant staff. It was halloween on my arrival and the pub was fully decorated in spooky gear, in real detail! I asked for a pint of  my hometown beverage which was a Thatcher’s haze. Was perfect, even in Cornwall. 

On arrival to check in to the B&B the restaurant area of the venue was absolutely rammed full of holiday makers with top class food from the head chef, EX Navy trained Richard running the kitchen. 

After a long day travelling and working I instantly felt like I was on holiday down south. 

I stayed in the B&B for a few nights and always looked forward to having a drink at the bar before heading off to bed. 

If your looking for a get away with a real British pub vibe pease visit this place. The owners are really investing in making the pub the core of the village and is a real gem.

I hope the owners read this and realise that you have one hell of a business on your hands.

Proper UK Southern Pub

We only stayed one night, room was lovely, clean, tidy n comfortable, getting there was a bit like climbing a mountain, 2 flights of really steep stairs, to get to our room.  Once there,,Wi Fi was difficult, so many different passwords, depending on where you were.
No breakfast was an issue, as all signs at the hotel say ,… Bed and Breakfast
