This is a cracking wee site.  I was booking on the go while I was touring and this place was recommended by the folks at Crofters Snug.  What a result.  I was welcomed to the site like an old friend and the view from the pitch was totally amazing.  Okay it was a bit blowy but it is the North Coast!!!  The dog walking area was brilliant and my boy goind the Muddy ditch!!  Would definitely go back

Small is beautiful! Lovely friendly campsite on the NC500 with outstanding views over the bay. Close to Dunnet Head Lighthouse and plenty of wonderful walks. Really peaceful setting, would highly recommend. 

There really is no other place like Windhaven. From the warm and friendly welcome from the minute you pull up to the warm goodbyes when you leave. Phil’s breakfasts are just the best and the views are spectacular. Lovely and clean rooms with everything you need. Can’t wait to come back.

2 night stay in one of the B&B rooms.  Wonderful views across to Orkney with seals on the slipway below (and whales & dolphins seen at other times). Phil and Clare are really friendly and give the place a really informal, cosy feel.  I ended up on the tractor cutting the grass within 20 minutes of arriving!  Saturday night spent in the 'man-cave' with other visitors and a local playing guitar, squeeze box and fiddle and singing folk songs. Basic accommodation and campsite facilities but all you really need. 2 lovely dogs on site.

Brilliant little cafe on road side can't miss it. Camping & B&B also. Lovely coffee and nice Sandwiches, cakes were good too.  Service was great, IF ver passing to Dunnet Head would make a point of calling in for lunch. Highly recommended if you want a light lunch or a cuppa and cake.

What a great camp site situated on the northern most part of the British mainland. Our welcome was warm and sincere and the site is on top of the cliffs over looking the Pentland Firth, amazing. The facilities are modern and clean and electric hook ups are available on some pitches nearer to the house, best to ask for these when booking if needed. Dogs are welcomed and across the road from the site is an enclosed field where you can let them off the lead. From the site you can watch both Common and Grey seals below in the bay with the odd visit from Orcas. The road up to Dunnets Head is right outside the site with easy if not slow access up to the lighthouse and some fantastic views. This site is well placed as a centre for touring the north coast as well as a night stop location.

We stopped off here as part of the NC500 and we needed a cup of tea as the weather wasn't great.
The young man working was very helpful in advising us to park our parks in the car park due to big trucks passing.
He also told us all the sandwiches on offer and the traditional cakes etc and even threw in some Highlands trivia. Hes a keeper for you guys.

Sandwhiches were super soft and tasty, and a good cuppa.

Fantastic views and the most friendly owners. Phil goes out of his way to make sure you are happy.child friendly environment. We were also blessed with the most gorgeous sunsets. 
Bit of a queue some times, but really not a big problem, given all the positives

We stopped at the cafe and found it to be considerably charming and cosy.
A friendly and polite young chap served us and the nosh and beverages were excellent.
Would happily make a return visit to Windhaven cafe.

Stayed with Phil and his good lady Saturday 16th April. Very welcoming, couldn’t do enough for use. We pitched up in our Campervan and …. Well what a view ! The facilities are clean, you can grab a shower, water ( out/in) and sneak into the mancave which phil had a roaring stove on the go. Please ask Phil about all the stuff he does i.e coastguard duties and large marine life rescuers. Incredible couple!!
Wished we could have stayed longer but we were on a route to cover over limited days. So, if your on the NC500 West Coast Scotland , just detour off, go see the lighthouse at Dunnet Head and stay over with a really decent, caring loving family ❤️
Promise - you won’t be disappointed. 
Can be a bit windy given the location but, just be prepared as you would do camping in the wild.

Great stay

Great little cafe with amazing sandwhiches.

Claire and Phil run this B&B and campsite from their home in Brough.  Advertised as the most northerly B&B in mainland UK and you can't argue with that. It's a mile or so south of Dunnet Head, the most northerly point of mainland UK (not John o' Groats as most people think). Dunnet Head has a lighthouse and viewpoint to see several types of marine birds. A 2 minute walk from the B&B and you can walk down steps onto Brough Bay, a secluded little area not signposted so stays nice and quiet. We saw a dozen seals yards from us sunbathing on the slipway - magical! Only about 10 miles away, just the other side of J.o.G is Duncansby Lighthouse where a short walk takes you to a gorge in the clifftops where we saw dozens of Puffins, Kittiwakes etc.
The twin room we stayed in was small and had a tiny en-suite. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the lounge next door, shared with the people in the other room. The shower was functional but not very powerful and the cold water tap in the sink gave little more than a dribble. 
Claire and Steve are very friendly and helpful hosts and we had a lovely cooked breakfast. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the North East of Scotland.

We stayed at Windhaven as part of our road trip along the NC500 and it was absolutely perfect! Phil was super helpful throughout and really friendly, made us feel really welcome. The site was well equipped - there was electric hook ups if needed, a water tap and a brilliant bathroom with a warm shower! Thanks so much!

Ideal NC500 stop

Me, my fiancée, daughter and dog was doing the nc500 6 month ago in a motor home and was looking for a place to stop for the night and we found this place by chance and we are so happy we did. The gent that owns this is an absolute legend from what I remember he made everyone feel welcome and did everything he could to please us and he made us laugh everytime we spoke to him. Even thou there's not much on the site, this is the one place that sticks out to my family. We only stayed for the night but wished we had stayed longer. We're planning on doing the nc500 again in 2023 and we will make sure to come back here and stay longer.

Stayed here in the main house (not on the campsite) which was very enjoyable, a bit of a home from home after staying in hotels touring the highlands and islands. Clean and comfortable.  Interesting too on account of the seals in the bay. The owners were friendly and accommodating and put on a nice breakfast in what serves a cafe during the day.

Interesting and Nice Place to Stay

We stayed at Windhaven for two nights as part of our journey around the north of Scotland. The campsite is located on a ridge that has incredible views of the bay below and is a great spot for exploring the local area. Phil was amazing and the campsite had a very relaxed and friendly vibe which we loved. We would stay there again and highly recommend it to all campers!
