Having checked into and immediately checked out of the worst Air B&B ever on Ramsgate in Stockton on Tees, I searched Tripadvisor and discovered what turned out to be a wonderful port in a storm. I telephoned Jane and explained I was in dire straights in a strange town and just the tone of her voice immediately lifted my spirits. A short taxi drive from the town centre and I found myself in a quiet cul de sac and my hostess smiling at the front door. My room was light, airy and spacious with tv and a fabulous en suite bathroom complete with jacuzzi. The room also had tea and coffee making facilities, a flask of filtered water and even a tempting menu offering light meals. There was also an information pack of the local area, taxi service etc. It was a million miles away from the grubby little place I had just escaped from. The added bonus for me was that Jane has two beautiful Irish setters called Scarlet and Poppy, the proud mother of 9 puppies. The pups were 8 weeks old and soon to go to new homes so I felt very privileged to have met and had a crafty cuddle before they began their new lives. I cannot recommend Buttercup House highly enough . Thankyou Jane for a brief but lovely stay.
