Excellent food and great, friendly staff, except for one in particular - the person who serves the carvery - obviously not a 'people person' or a 'people pleaser' and should really be kept out of sight and definitely out of customers way - perhaps he would be happier being a toilet cleaner, hence not in the public eye?!

This so called 'gentleman' (who really is NOT), was extremely rude, belligerent, hostile and particularly unprofessional - at one point, I even witnessed him giving a member of my family a seething, evil look! He 'barked' orders at staff which, again, I find very unprofessional, but very typical of his mannerisms.

What a shame one person can ruin a reputation otherwise perfect!

Sack the server of the carvery!!

The food and service from most of the staff was lovely
However… 
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the man serving the carvery. Attitude was terrible, spoke incredibly rudely to all of our group and others that followed after us. Such a shame that what would’ve been a lovely Mother’s Day meal was completely ruined by one person. 
Every other member of staff was so incredibly welcoming so to have their hard work spoiled by this man is such a shame for us, for them and the pub as a whole. As a family we have been going to the badger for years and I have never experienced such abysmal hospitality and service from an individual. I imagine many others will feel the same way and so will the other staff who were spoken (well..shouted at) by this man. Such a shame.

Awful customer service

A very rude,ignorant little man serving the carvery ruined our mother's day meal.Bar staff,waitresses brilliant, just a shame he was so unpleasant to us and people around us. Won't be going back as long as he works there.I feel like his customer service needs some refreshing.I would be sacked from my role in the NHS if I treated people in this way.

Lovely pub! Visited with friends today & we all had a lovely meal. I had the fish bites, best batter I’ve ever had, really light & not at all greasy! Very reasonably priced too considering how crazy expensive things are these days! Definitely recommend

Lovely pub!

I am absolutely disgusted with this pub! After parking in the pub’s own car park for only a quick drink, on our way to the beach, I received a £60 parking fine in the post today. Apparently,  I have now found out ( through other similar complaints on Facebook) you have to give your registration to the bar staff. 
Private car parks are always free when you are genuine customer, as opposed to public, council ones. Why would you look around the car park for signs therefore and no staff at the bar mentioned this. 
We are now escalating this matter to St Austell brewery.

Disgraceful parking fine as a customer!

Pub it self is fine and garden nice but the parking system is shocking. Went with friends one Sunday lunchtime for drink in the garden and received threatening letter about parking fine which says final reminder in red (even though this was the first correspondence)! Had to follow appeal process even though when I called was told the pub could help on Monday!! Signs were not visible or on table outside as I was told I live locally and would not return or recommend it to my friends or family.

Parking nightmare

On the occasion we visited, we didn’t have a great dining experience and since I use reviews a lot I think it’s fair to share our experience. 

Booked a table for 6, which wasn’t ready when we arrived. Not a huge deal as the party which were sitting there vacated pretty quickly and we were served a drink promptly at the bar. 

After that however, we just didn’t have a great dining experience, and I guess that’s where I feel like it depends what you want from a restaurant/ place to eat. 

I can only assume the young waitresses must have been brand new, because their lack of experience was evident - we had meals for other tables brought over to our table incorrectly twice, and the second time we were still clearly still eating our starters - so even if it was our meal, what were they going to do? Put it in the middle? 

Saying that, when our main meals did come over, they hadn’t cleared our starter plates, so we started shifting the plates around and the girl said ‘I’ll clear them after’…. Then not taking a single plate away and went to get the rest of our mains…. Where was she going to put those down? I had to ask another one of the girls to clear them before she came back. 

We requested a side as a starter, which was missed until I chased it. Cheesy garlic bread which was more like cheese on toast.
Also told that we couldn’t swap the chips which came with a dish for new potatoes (which appeared on the specials menu) which seemed a bit odd if everything is cooked fresh. 

Then, halfway through our mains, bingo started! I’m not against a game of bingo, but we weren’t told when we booked that it was on and it killed our conversation as to not want to speak over the bingo calling. 

The two ladies behind the bar were friendly and clearly more experienced.

The portion size is huge. 

I would have offered this feedback when asked how it was, but standing at the bar next to where the bingo was being called, didn’t feel the right place to do it!

Not a great dining experience

The food was wonderful.
The staff are polite and friendly.
Great choices for evening meals.
I chose sirloin steak and husband chose sizzling steak with wraps.
We cleared our plates. Staff are allergen aware.
I would have given 5 stars but like most places they have gluten free choices there was no nut free or nut allergen friendly pudding choices otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
It's needs updating but the low level of light makes for a very romantic meal and the fairly lights are lovely. 

Lovely little place to visit.

The carvery was OK, the meat was nice however it slightly put me off being served by a rude man who clearly had no respect for his colleagues. He asked the young boy to get some potatoes and as he didn't bring them in 1 minute flat, he continued to be really rude and nasty and said "what do I need!". This wasn't the service I preferred and didn't particularly think it was respectful to the young man. Hopefully he will read this review and consider his attitude in future

Rude server no respect for colleagues

We visited the Badger Inn in 1992 honeymoon some things never change. Needs a major overall for the price they charge a night £165 including breakfast which was very nice. Appeared to be short staffed so food delivery was quite slow and the drinks were expensive £2.95 for a tonic water. The bedrooms were adequate if a little small but the windows were only single glaze and you could hear the road traffic which was a busy road. On the plus side the garden was great car park good and Sunday lunch was beautiful and it was very busy with locals enjoying it.
