We booked on the morning of our visit, we’re welcomed by a friendly woman, we were surprised by the value for money, given that some meals were cheaper than a sandwich at another pub we recently visited. The food was great, good portions and they were happy to accomodate a few additions. The Chef was so pleasant, chatted to the table a few ones through our meal and made us all feel very welcome. My parents have just moved to the village and this will definitely be a favourite to visit in the future!

Saturday Lunch for 10

A lovely pub with welcoming members of staff, especially Nico. We had a bad experience from another pub down the road and it was really nice feel welcomed by The unicorn. If you are visiting Somerton, I would highly recommend this pub for your choice as a non bias pub with friendly locals. Nico your customer service was exceptional and you are an asset to The Unicorn! Thanks again.

Stayed here for a business trip 
The rooms were filthy, bins  were full with rubbish from previous guests.
Bathroom floor dirty the white towels were black with dirt.
Very noisy from the bar area considering meant to close at 9.30pm 
Did not serve food 
Would not stay here again or recommend 
Did email the hotel to complain and not even an acknowledgement or response.

We hadn't visited The Unicorn for some years but booked a Sunday Lunch and couldn't find any fault with it.

Excellent service from all of the staff and our party enjoyed their respective meals they'd chosen. 

Good sized portions too, so we'll be back.

Fantastic Sunday lunch

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Unicorn hotel and all the staff, in particular the chef, for a really lovely Sunday roast. We had a family party weekend, and it was so nice to have a delicious Sunday lunch cooked for us before they all headed for home. The welcome was warm, the surroundings were lovely and the staff who waited on table were friendly efficient and very quick. The cost was reasonable and it made a lovely end to a busy weekend.

A lovely experience

Was given a room right above the disco  music..even though I asked for one as far away as possible.. so no sleep at all.. no soap provided..no milk sachets for morning tea.. no breakfast.. dangerously low headroom into the bathroom.. windows could not be opened or closed..very basic shower unit and washbasin taps..dirty room.. certainly not worth £75.. But the food in the restaurant was lovely and likewise the staff

I’m almost never bother to write reviews. But these guys took an impromptu booking at 22.30 and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. From letting us sample different drinks, to running around looking to try and purchase us toothbrushes.

If the manager and the staff worked for me, I’d make sure they all had pay rises, as service like this is genuine and incredibly rare

Unbelievably friendly service and way and above what is expected

Stayed for one night with my husband as we had a birthday party in the town. We booked the large double room for £75 which didn't include breakfast. We were able to park in a large car park behind which was really handy  Our room was old fashioned but the bed was comfy. The bathroom was clean, sizeable and had a big shower which my husband said was really good. We initially didn't have much toilet roll or any towels, but after asking they were brought up fairly quickly. 
The pub is busy and loud so we could hear plenty of noise from our room. This was mentioned to us on booking and it didn't bother us at all. We arrived back just before closing so wasn't disturbed of sleep either. The staff were all friendly and check out was as easy as dropping our key in a drop box on the way out. The only thing I'll mention is the 'loose' coffee granules that had been there so long they had solidified. Thankfully neither of us wanted a coffee in the morning. Would absolutely stay again though as it was ok value and the pub has a good atmosphere with friendly staff. 

Overnight stay - Did the job.

On a weeks holiday near Somerton and booked Sunday lunch before we left home a few days prior.  Booked it based on Tripadvisor reviews for ‘Sunday lunch times’.  On arrival we realised we were in a very old tired dark local pub.  Most of the lagers had run out so it must have been an eventful Saturday night! 

We were the first to arrive at 1.15pm and within 10 minutes,  two other tables were occupied.  I asked for the music to be turned down a little as it wasn’t easy to hold a conversation (given there was nobody else there really) and which the waitress, Charlotte, kindly did.  Not sure why so many places misunderstand what level “background music” should be. 

There was only roast dinners on the menu and we chose the beef and turkey (not on the same plate!) which was a full plateful for sure.  Meat was tender and all well cooked and tasty.  Staff were pleasant but the ambience wasn’t our cup of tea. That aside it was good value.  We read the reviews before booking as some had favoured The Unicorn over other pubs in the vicinity,  but personally we wouldn’t revisit.

Met work colleagues to go through some usual boring numbers. But spent more time interacting with the friendly staff. Rio behind the bar was great and had my order sorted before I got to the bar, excellent service.
