We are staying near by and booked a table for Saturday night . We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and what I call a real village pub . We had a curry which was as good as any Indian restaurant. I had a fish pie . Would definitely like to return and maybe stay in the future.

Evening meal

My friend and I were staying at lower Knapp farm nearby. This pub was nearby and just about within walking distance. It was dog friendly, clean and welcoming. There are as an excellent menu with a specials board and a curry selection. We both had the home made fish pie. The portions were huge and the taste delicious. The bar staff and locals were very friendly. The price was also reasonable. We would highly recommend.

Great food and welcome

Excellent stay, food is exceptionally good quality well cooked and presented. Hosts are very friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend this place to anyone wishing to tour the Sidmouth area

If you are down this way, a stay at the Red Lion is an absolute must. Comfortable rooms, amazing food (you must try the home made curries) and the hosts are outstanding. They make you feel so welcome.

Amazing little Find

We stayed for one night in The Red Lion.  Richard and Bibs couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming.  The rooms were lovely and comfortable with a great view across to the church.  We ate there in the evening - generous portions and really good pub grub.  Our breakfast was also very good.  We would both highly recommend it and will come back and stay again ourselves.  A lovely village,  just a 15 minute drive away from Sidmouth.  Just a pretty, unspoiled, local pub.

A lovely and welcoming place to stay

A wonderful stay at the Red Lion. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Richard and Bib could not have been any more helpful. An absolute delight to stay here, which we will certainly do again. Highly recommended.

Glorious gem in beautiful Devon.

Tried to contact the Red Lion as advertised as B&B on list for a buyagift stay.
No reply to email enquiry, so rang and spoke to member of staff, and explained our enquiry.
They took our name and number, saying they were really busy and didn't have the diary for room bookings, and said they would ring back.
Two days later, we are still waiting for a reply to our enquiry.
Very disappointing.

A small inn in a small village with four letting rooms; recommended - good breakfast, good pub food in the evening and welcoming hosts. Sidbury is only ten minutes away from Sidmouth and a good alternative.

Mid Week Break

This would have received 20 out of 10 if possible the staff were friendly right from the start the room overlooking the church ( room 2 ) was exceptionally comfortable and clean 
Breakfast was served with a smile and was excellent we would love to revisit  thank you so much for a wonderful stay Winnie our dog had a fabulous time well done see you again soon

At the time of writing the U.K. is in lock down for the Covid 19 Virus so we are unable to go out for a meal. The Red Lion in Sidbury, Devon provided a delicious take away of possibly the best fish and chips I have ever had. The delivery came at the agreed time and was well presented, piping hot and delicious. I now look forward to the time when we can once again visit the Red Lion for a meal.
